They have the advantage of not knowing how far off the literature the movies were. I tell everyone, thise Hobbit movies are alright... just don't think about it. Watch what we got, don't complain about what we didn't. The only issue I really have is the production... they used digital cameras at like 120 frames/second... so it looks fake. Like a video game. Its better resolution and FPS than our eyes can actually discern 😂. But the scenery is amazing and surprisingly Mirkwood, Beorn's House and the Palace Under the Mountain looks like the pictures in my mind when I read the books.

@@fatin6 oh yes, thank you. I love a good story, and I have always been impressed by a good film. Its such a different way to tell a story. You don't get internal dialogue, you aren't privy to charachters thoughts and knowledge, or all the history. Its gotta be shown or implied in a movie. And thats where the talent lies. I am a huge Tolkien nerd. I think I know more about Middle Earth than actual Earth. 😄 The Hobbit was written for young people, it is more fantastical and far-fetched. Its also Tolkien's first try, and LOTR and everything else came from it. It is supposed to be Bilbo's recollection of the events. He is the author of the book... which he no doubt exaggerated and took liberties with. Gandalf even says in LOTR that he basicly took Bilbo's version of how he got the Ring with a grain of salt. Likewise, the Hobbit movies were made more for kids, to be more like a fairy tale rather than a history like LOTR is. I enjoyed the heck out of the movies, despite the departure from the book and all the stuff they just made up lol. The only thing that really disappionted me was the desperate attempts to tie it in with LOTR. Its already part of LOTR but they insisted on referencing it as much as possible. That and the stuff from appendices and other books regarding Sauron, and what Gandalf was doing while the group was in Mirkwood with Saruman and Galadriel and all that stuff about Gundabad and Azog the Defiler and all that. It was cool to see it, a lot was part of the grand epic tale... just not part of The Hobbit. But what we got was well done. The acting was good, the sets were amazing, seeing all the locations was really cool. The battles were a little over the top and video-gamey but whatever. Still a great story and a great film.

One big complaint I have is how the dwarves were depicted. They were just little men. They didn't look like a different race of people that lived and worked underground, they were just short guys. I expected broad shouldered barrel chested stubby but powerful-looking guys.... like Gimli.

I love this series so much. Its very interesting to see what another culture experiences from these epics I all but take for granted at this point. I have read the books so many times, and have seen the movies in the theaters when they came out and 100 times since then 😂. And I have seen the cartoon versions as a child. I have always known these stories. I wish I could experience them for the first time again, as an adult. I am excited for more Star Wars with the guys. I also wish I could forget everything and see Star Wars in the order of the episodes for the first time. It has to be a much different experience not knowing Anakin is going to become Vader and he is the father of Luke and Leia. Be sure to show them Rogue One inbetween episodes 3 and 4. I do not speak the language the guys do... I do not even know what it is called. Hindi? But I can tell Babu has a stutter. But he does not stutter when he sings. I have a friend like that, he sings for a band, you would never know he has a stutter. He says he thinks faster than he speaks, but when he sings he does not think, his mind is clear so he does not have a stutter 😄.

Bilbo didn't steal The One Ring. The Ring abandoned Gollum b/c it knew Sauron was coming back. This is told in the beginning of The Fellowship of The Ring.
