I think Mark and Sam are the best at these kinds of interviews because how much they know about comedy history and have such reverence for it.

yeah maybe it's because they're a few yeas older than me, but it's almost a little wild just how long they were into comedy before even getting into it, really. With Mark, Sam or Shane Gillis, being young and having their own style, it doesn't really come off on stage that they have so many strong influences or are as intense of comedy fans as they are.

I'd also add they have more depth due to their insights to other knowledge on various topics and tidbits that provide links, allegories, analogies, and Anal G's

ya, last time you saw Judd he was on Jim and Sam shitting on Louis CK but hes cool again!!
I love mark telling Judd a Garry Shandling story that Garry told on The Green Room while sitting right next to Judd
I love how this was the one episode that Dangerfield is referenced tons of times and the one episode Sam doesn't do his Rodney impression lol
Love the intro. Classy. Straight the point.

Much better. Couldn't describe it better too
And this is why the podcast format is king. I get to sit in on a conversation and hear stories that you probably wouldn't otherwise. Like a fly on the wall
This was the best interview Judd has done during his whole podcast run. I think it's cus they didn't try to make it so much about the Chris Rock and Will Smith tweet and just were obviously interested in having a good ass conversation

The Chris Gethard special is so good. Definitely a solid rec if you haven't seen it. Rory Scovel's all improvised special that he recorded in Atlanta over the course of about a week is wild as well. It's here on YT. I'd love to see him on the pod riffing with Mark and Sam. He's such a unique weirdo. Great episode as usual, gang!

Chris Gethard was sobbing the night Trump was elected and destroyed the film of his election show that night lol. He is an absolute loser, there are tons of stories out there about him being a controlling egomaniac. By all means, check out his special if you want to hear a woke, neurotic, out of touch hypocrite whine about how he was suicidal once.....because that is unique.
Love both of you gentlemen and this pod.

I really like the closing credits custom song, and getting rid of that intro and using cool jazz music to kick things off...the production keeps getting better...wish this episode was longer...I've busted apatows chops before but I highly respect and interested in his knowledge and tales of comedy, seems genuinely nice grounded person and comedy nerd
Best intro yet
Mark has great stories from his childhood that would be great written into movie or TV show ideas.
love this podcast
Big Hollywood Judd not knowing the name for The Illuminati is hilarious....IlluminatiConfirmed
Keep it guys! You’re killing it in the comedy game! SAM IF YOURE SEEING THIS YOU NEED TO MAKE MORE OF A DIGITAL FOOTPRINT ON THE INTERNET ESPECIALLY KZread. I DONT SEE ENOUGH OF YOU ON KZread LIKE I DO MARK

Anyone who chooses to work with Pete Davidson or talks about him positively loses my respect, not that my respect means anything to them.
Best comedy pod around! I found Mark & Sam a couple of years ago & they both quickly became my new favorite comics & I love that they are good friends doing this show. The Critic is an all time favorite also.
I loved the bubble it was so crazy hilarious 😂
HAPPY 100K BOYS! ON THE WAY TO THE MILL!

Glad you guys changed the opening song … subtle quick piano right into it … boom …
Fuckin love Appatow on podcasts talking about comedy. Couldn’t click this fast enough.
Absolutely loved this
Nice Frasier opening
Love you guys, bring back the intro song…it’s perfect.
45:02 Holy shit. This thing that Judd is sharing about Norm...the story about the difference between being on stage which feels amazing and timeless...and being just...right over there...just 10 feet away and how the manager is over there telling him he's running too long and all his problems are waiting for him...he must've worked that into a bit because it was my favorite part of his set when I saw him in concert just a few years ago...it was funny but also a profound study of the way art can touch a timeless state, at least for a little while...but then it's back to the world and the clock. But not just a "study" or a bit really...I mean I felt like I could *feel* him feeling what it was like to be where he was, but also feel him looking at what was waiting for him in the wings, which is always the same thing in one form or another: everyday life and the inevitability of death. I'd love to think it was going to be in his special. I really hope someone posts a bootleg of it, I'd love to hear it again. And again.
holy name-dropping batman!
Yes! Thank you sir’s! I just got drunk
Im here for the boys
Really good episode, thanks guys!
Classy intro with guest #12 Judd Apatow! My eyes widen up at 5:40 so fast! And interesting outro
Goated new intro. Thank you!
Did Cake finally complain about the theme song??
Love the new minimal intro! punchy!
Billy Joel had the theme song for Bosom Buddies
I wonder if the comic who gave Norm weed was Tom Segura with Ryan Sickler, heard a similar story on 2Bears or Honeydew
i was really hoping for some heavyweights stories
Idk why anybody in the comedy scene hold this dude in such reverence. The dude encourages the theft of jokes.

I wonder if Mr. Apatow meant to reference Norm's "hypocrisy" bit about Cosby, or if he had an "irony" bit about OJ too haha. (Also, is it pronouncer irony or i-rony?)
I wonder what time it is wen they film🤔
This was an awesome ep!
Fermented and good.

Straight Story is great!
41:47 Normally Marky, that would be correct...pun intended...but apparently, the moth joke was not prepared. He thought he was done and then Conan told him he was on for another 8 minutes...he had nothing...but he remembered the moth joke which I believe Colin Quinn had recently told him, so he made sure he knew how much time he had to fill and stretched the joke to fill it as only Norm could, pulling jokes out of thin air along the way to the punchline. This was something I just loved about Norm, that he didn't even need a good joke to make you laugh. The moth joke is a chuckler but by the time Norm gets to the punchline, he's already cracked you up a dozen times along the way and he's brought in all these Russian literature references, basically wined and dined you so well that you're ready to give it all up at the end. He told many street jokes as part of his act. I also think it was conscious, like he was saying to the audience, I'm so good, I can make you laugh with a bad joke. ;~)
Great guest!
We might be Crunk.
Surprised this thing didn't go on 45 minutes too long
