    See you soon, coming from Michigan at 30 years old. May not be the “kid” you’re expecting, but I’m looking forward to this opportunity like nothing else I’ve ever done in my life.

    The 75th ranger regiment should follow the national guard and have a direct path for rasp graduates to go straight to ranger school or make their own section of ranger school instead of waitind and competing with conventional units for slots.

    Ranger school is nothing more than a rite of passage in the 75th Ranger Regiment. There was talk of implementing a pipeline (RASP, SURT, School) but given the structure of the Battalions it wouldn't be beneficial enough to justify.

    Do the trainees go to Airborne School during or after the pipeline?

  • @LeadersRecon

    It largely depends on your orders. You don't automatically get an airborne slot when attending Ranger School, however many will attempt to walk on after successful Ranger School completion if their unit approves it. If you attend Ranger School without having attended Airborne School first, you don't participate in the jumps.

    @Leaders Recon thxs for the quick reply. I've been out of the active Army since 2016 as an 11B and was wondering if I rejoin the National Guard and go back to basic for 11B OSUT will I be able to attend RTLI ( Ranger team leader initiative) then to RTAC ( ranger training and assessment course) and ten to Ranger School My ASVAB is 78 and all line scores above 110. Haven't taken the ACFT yet though. My younger brother is joining the National Guard and going to basic training has 11B so makes me want to rejoin so we could be in the same National Guard unit

    If you're attending OSUT, i.e. BCT and AIT again, then yes, you could have a shot at RTLI. However, it depends on what your (re)enlistment process entails. In the past, depending on the length of your break in service, you didn't necessarily have to attend BCT and AIT again.

    Do the States the soldier belongs to agree to the soldier attending RTLI before he leaves for Basic or once your there and recommended to attend RTLI?

  • @LeadersRecon

    Typically, a soldier is recommended to attend while in initial entry training, and if the soldier is interested, the state will sign off.

    @Leaders Recon thank you so much!! And if a soldier is not able to obtain an opportunity to attend RTLI, RTAC, and then Ranger School right after basic training. How does it work in the National Guard earning a slot after you get back to your unit? I really appreciate your help

  • @LeadersRecon

    @LeadersRecon

    At the unit level, your are essentially competing for slots. A good way to get a slot would be to perform well in either the Best Squad Competition or the Best Warrior Competition. Depending on your region, if you reach a certain level (States, regionals, or nationals) you will be gifted your choice of school as a reward. We have episodes discussing both of these competitions if that is the route you decide to go.
