Just got back from the Cape last week from vacationing in Yarmouth. Perfect weather, good food, great biking and best of all, I got to sleep in with no itinerary for each day. That's a vacation!

I spent summers in Wellfleet for close to 50 years. I think it is the nicest town on the outer Cape. So unique, from the fresh water ponds, to the Ocean beaches to the warmer bay. I cried as a child when the Penny Patch candy store burned to the ground in the town center! I used to curse getting up on chilly summer mornings for swimming lesson at Gull Pond. (PS, thank you Robin the swimming instructor who succeed in dragging me out way over my head and made me tread water for 30 mins) I watched businesses come and go. But standing at the end of the Jetty it all feels eternal.

Oh the Penny patch after a breakfast at the Light House restaurant, and square dancing on Wednesday nights behind city hall.

Wellfleet is and always has been it’s own place/world on the cape, which is extremely hard considering you could say the same about any town on the cape but something about wellfleet and it’s people make it soooo different
