1:14:33 I disagree with the sentiment of "if Kong had time to prepare he could've beaten Godzilla" because he has both the knowledge the fight is going to happen as well as already having had time to prepare. At the point of their second battle in Hong Kong, Kong has grown accustomed to the city and it's surroundings now, especially after already having to use the city and it's surroundings to avoid Godzilla in the first HK match. Kong has the knowledge of the fight as well as the preparedness to fight, yet still lost because Godzilla is simply the stronger of the two. When it comes to purely one on one with no enhancements or weapons or domain superiority, Godzilla wins. However, I will say, Kong's ability to use weapons and objects from his surroundings like the construction crane and the top of a building as a shield, as well as his intelligence, puts him over the edge to be able to stand toe to toe with Godzilla at all.

I kinda agree on Skull Island being a bit confused, I think a better version of the script would have been to have Hank Marlow be the MC, have Randa bring Packard to the Island, they get attacked by Kong, saved by Marlow, and then the main conflict is between Marlow and Packard and their opposing views on what to do with Kong and how to proceed. I kinda think Tom Hiddlestone and Brie Larson were added to the script and casting because they needed a younger, handsomer lead to get butts in seats, but I think it kinda shows that they're a bit superfluous to the cast and story. I agree with a lot of points you made about KoTM, I've watched a lot of reactions to it, and a lot of people seem to get lost or miss certain plot points, and I think that's because it's so chaotic, there's barely a moment of brevity as soon as Ghidorah comes out of the Ice it's just 100mph until the end credits. I don't think the ensemble cast helped either, and as you mentioned, the Shield comparisons to Monarch are most obvious in KoTM, and it's to the films detriment, the films jumps around too much trying to handle the sheer volume of characters, the lore, the monsters, and the action. It seems cluttered and chaotic at some points. Like the audience and the people in the film barely get a chance to digest the fact that aliens exist, and the hollow earth civilisation. It's just a lot packed in, maybe it could have benefitted from being a 2 part film, having the first film end with the Oxygen destroyer, and Godzilla's unknown fate. 2nd part having the final showdown where Godzilla reclaims the title of King of the Monsters. If i had to describe KoTM in one word, it would be bloated. GvK much like KoTM I feel suffers from so much bloat in it's cast and plot lines, I think my biggest gripe with the MonsterVerse is that it's lack of direction and cohesiveness really begins to shine through in GvK and KoTM, there was never an overarching storyline or development and each instalment is just being tacked onto the next one which is really jarring at times, not to mention the constant shuffling of the cast, which just highlights how little planning there was, as each new film introduces and does away with characters constantly that you almost can't help but wonder what happened to half of them, however GxK did the right thing in bringing back some of the cast of GvK and building the story around them in GxK, personally it helps the plot flow a bit smoother as the film doesn't have to try and introduce you to 15 new people like they've done previously. I think if I could rewrite GvK, I'd completely remove the Madison plotline, it seems like they had Millie Bobby-Brown on a 2 film deal, but didn't have the scripts written or any plan really so they just had to find a way to stuff her into this film, but if i had to keep it I'd have Ren Serizawa team up with Madison as the Apex insider, rather than Bernie, and have Maya be the pilot of Mechagodzilla, it would have been a better plot line to have the son of the Dr. Serizawa be the one who realises how insane his bosses plans truly are and to try and alert the world to what's going on as he doesn't want the sacrifice his father made to save Godzilla to go to waste. Madison could also feel guilty, because of her mothers actions caused everything that led to Dr. Serizawa's death. They could do away with the Josh and Bernie for this rewrite just to slim the cast down and to make the plot more streamlined. You brought up a good point about Kong in GvK, that he was learning through out the entire fight with Godzilla, and in GxK when they fight in Egypt he initially has a much easier time than he did previously and that's what makes Kong a more compelling protagonist for a lot of people, because he's an ape, he's much easier to relate to, he has more human like features and behaviour, it makes sense why in GxK and GvK Kong is set up to be the main character and a focal point. I love the monsterverse but as you said, in each film there seems to be little nuggets of potential cinema gold that was just never really delved into, focused on or allowed to develop, a lot of it just gets lost in the madness Hopefully with the monsterverse films becoming more successful, Legendary will start planning the films and plots better as well as signing the actors and actresses on multi film deals so they don't have a revolving door of a cast

You mess with Kong, and you get crushed! It was a shame to see other characters either die or not get much screen time such as Hank, Mark, and Dr. Serizawa. I guess people were more focused on the Kong part of GxK to make people think Godzilla is a villain, when in reality he’s a hero trying to take down the real villain Walter Simons and his creation Mecha Godzilla. It also gives us the idea that there’s more to Kong than we think, he may be a titan but he still shares similarities to the common gorilla, being able to make sign language, understand human emotions, making human traps, and running on all fours to travel greater distances instead of just running like a man. I feel Godzilla’s idea to defeat Tiamat is to get stronger so he can be able to defeat newer and stronger threats to the humans. The idea of Godzilla taking the bullets for this kids is a heart warming thought, and his idea of getting stronger is almost like Mothra going through her metamorphosis to help Godzilla with Gidora. I’m happy to see Mothra again, after she used her life force to help Godzilla she was actually dead instead of turning into an egg and coming back to life like a phoenix, and it’s thanks to Gia that Mothra had actually come back to life in order to explain Kong’s situation to her husband, Godzilla so they can team up to defeat Skar.

Chiming in a bit early, around 17min, but when it comes to humans place in nature within the Monsterverse; I think Godzilla sees us as part of nature like any creature and thus will aid, or at least ignore, us but will quickly turn on us the moment we become dangerous to nature. Given the later revelations of humanities past with the titans I feel Godzilla also has a love/hate view of man since they continually aid and attempt to harm him simultaneously.

great video lode it now for me about the movie god... x kong ....... to be honest i didn't enjoy it i think they could have done better like a lot better and by the look of it i never see the movie about kong and godzilla it''s just kong. just like kong vs godzilla they did the same thig the movie was just about kong they never take the time to do something great about godzilla. godzilla should be the king and be more about him but instead not and to be honest godzilla's new look is wak but there is great thing about the movie like the characters was Osmo and the monsters was great like shimo , scar king , suko ... they were great and the fighting was nice but i feel ike there should've been more but it's okay but for godzilla i was disappointed that why i didn't enjoy the movie at all his the king and they should be focusing more on him it was like he was never in the movie at all beside the fight

The entire franchise is crap. What are you talking about? Godzilla was never meant to be a buddy to mankind. Godzilla was never meant to be some anti-hero that is the defender of humanity. Godzilla was meant to be a force of nature, a god of destruction, the consequences of humanities, destructive, behavior personified. Bro you sound like the kinda dude who has only watched Godzilla -1 and saw it as some sort of own to Hollywood and now think you understand the franchise better than it's own creators. Godzilla was doing basketball ads with Charles Barkley, he's done Japanese insurance ads, He shook hands with Jet Jaguar, a literal power rangers megazord. There's only about 8 Godzilla films where he is a destructive force, and a allegory for nuclear weapons, and consequence, the others are whimsical, almost comedic fun fests for children.

Godzilla -1 is a great film, GxK is also a great film, they're great in different ways. The Japanese don't run in fear of the Hollywood version of Godzilla at all, in fact the monsterverse movies have had higher box office in Japan than 13 Jaoanese Godzilla movies, more than a 3rd of all his movies. The creators do like the American Godzilla why do you think they keep selling them the license to make these movies. Toho was going to retire the character entirely until Godzilla 2014, which revitalised the franchise and is the reason why films like Shin Gozilla and Minus 1 could exist today
