you always make sense to me Tom, and not only about my number or my wings. I always need a dose of your lectures as a reminder to be more tolerant, more aware, but also kinder to myself. I always feel lighter after listening to you. With deep gratitude, 8w7

Wow! You nailed it Dr. Tom! As a 7w8 I have had so many of these experiences. I remember when I realized that I truly had a problem being still. When I had my daughter 20yrs ago and was getting used to breastfeeding, I felt so trapped by having to sit down to feed my baby!😂 I remember thinking - OMG, you mean every couple of hours I have to sit still so this little thing can eat?! And if she doesn’t eat it’s my fault!! haha. Talk about a 7 Mom’s wake up call. I went through 36 hrs of labor only to have to do the one thing that drives me nuts? Sit still! 😂😂

😂 That was SO HARD for me, too! 7w6, and I had a really difficult time with newborns. I felt so trapped 😭 It's just responsibility and holding still and tiredness. And then people want you to do baby slings and share a bed yet??? No, please let me have a few moments of free movement! For me, around 6-9 months was when the light came back into life. Still quite limited by nap schedules, etc, but the baby gets really fun and interactive. It feels weird to be the only one who doesn't miss them as a tiny baby, and was kind of glad when they were done with breastfeeding even though I did my best to get to a year with all of them. But on the plus side, I found the "terrible twos" not terrible at all, I thought it was funny and fulfilling to see the child's personality emerging. I loved having my pack of littles, it was like a constant game of improvisation "where's my lobster?" And I have to come up with an acceptable answer about this imaginary crustacean companion and then suddenly we're dancing, there's a dramatic interlude while I rescue the baby from falling off the counter (how did she get up there, she can't even walk yet?!) and comfort her in her rage and despair that I won't let her hold a steak knife, and now someone is screaming with joy because he found a "snail what loves me". Absolutely hilarious chaos and joy, every day. And if I'd make playdough or a sofa fort, they'd lose their minds with joy and gratitude. 🥰 I still enjoy my children at 9,11,&14, but I'm definitely nostalgic sometimes.

I'm watching this, as a 7, and realizing I'm listening doing dishes to not be bored which is so 7. Part of me wants to deny my 7ness but as I look back on my 40 years, it is written all over my resume and the 5 states I've lived in. What I've discovered is to embrace my 7ness and do many jobs that I'm passionate and skilled at with excellence. It keeps me busy, not bored, and I'm creating for others the satisfaction I've chased through life which is a nice consolation prize. My wife keeps my spending and gluttony in check. She's a 1, and a perfect 10/10.

@twlahue perhaps you can write a song w/ guitar for each enneagram type - 1 is all organized and precise, 2 is emotional 3 is serious business 4 just breaks all the rules 5 is like a 1 but more logical without emotion 6 follows trends 7 just rocks out 8 is similar to 7 but puts things in perspective and 9 is safe and tries to make everyone happy

I burst out loud laughing numerous times listening to this.😂 Great insight Tom. Chasing after.... yup. There's something wrong with me... not really. I'd rather "struggle" with my 7ness. I'm so glad I'm a 7.🎉❤🎉 Am I bored or hungry? That's a question I need to ask myself at 4:00p.m.!😊 The other day I was in the dentists chair for 45 minutes and was about to go crazy! 😮 Contentment is great gain!

@@twlahue honestly I don’t know. But they help me put things into reality and help me stay present. Also I have a friend who is a 5w6 but people assume he is 9w1 or 1w9 because he’s handsome and confident. However as a 5w6 I’m able to recognize 5w6 behaviors. Another girl I know is an Enneagram 8 but people assume she’s a 2 or a 9 because she’s beautiful. It’s funny they are good at distorting reality.

@caramelunicorn8023 ADHD is actually a neurodevelopmental disorder, although many people with ADHD do have mental illnesses such as anxiety or depression as a co-morbidity. ADHD is part of my personality and how I perceive the world. it's the reason I can't just sit and relax, why I'm always looking for the next new thing (dopamine hit) and why I bring the fun to the party. it's also why I'm always losing my keys, and I won't remember your name after we've been introduced or what we talked about. sometimes it's an asset, but it also causes lots of problems (like being perpetually late because I couldn't find the car keys). I could go into what makes something a neurodevelopmental disorder vs a mental illness, but it would make this post too long.
