Random teenager here. I won't pretend to be one of the people who listened to this song originally. But my dad loved this when he was my age, and it's thanks to him that I'm here. There's this feeling from special kinds of music that you can't find anywhere else. Some day, I want to inspire the same sort of feelings that this did for me and my dad at such different points in time. Love this music.

I firmly believe that someday our lives will be laid out in front of us for us to see and it will probably be explained to us because all we. Did was go through life? We never knew what was going to happen tomorrow but all the crazy things that did happen all the crazy things we learned. All the crazy things we went through and did we'll. Be laid out? For us? And then we'll understand. And we will all meet each other and we will know who we are. It won't be necessary to give out names because we already know that when we meet and I hope everyday of my life this will happen.

Many may not be familiar with his name, but millions across the globe will recognise this Taiwanese traditional singer's voice. A sample of his plaintive Elder's Drinking Song chant was used by Michael Cretu as the backbone for Enigma's Return to Innocence which went on to become one of Enigma's biggest selling singles. However Cretu had not obtained Difang's permission prior to using the chant which prompted a court-case in 1996 that saw the two settle out of court three years later with Difang being compensated. The controversy around the case propelled Difang into the international spotlight, and Dan Lacksman (whose most famous project had been the first Deep Forest album) approached him to produce an album together. Released by Rock Records Japan in 1998 Circle of Life is a mesmerising combination of Lacksman's usual electronic drumloops, ambient synths and sounds carefully constructed so as not to interfere with Difang's heart-felt singing based on traditional Taiwanese songs of love, work and celebration. Slower, more laid-back beats support songs like Visiting Song and the contemplative Fully Laden with Riches with its tinkling piano instrumentation and Difang's characteristic yodelling calls. However the more upbeat tracks like Love Song (with Deep Forest style lead synth-flute) and Working Song (with its dark string theme) are the real highlights of the album. As an obvious reference to the court-case with Enigma, Lacksman made his own, gentler modernisation of Elder's Drinking Song as well as including the original version of the chant unaccompanied on the CD. With the layered and more reverential sound of Circle of Life we see Lacksman mature as a world music producer, in comparison to his previous outings such as Pangea. Difang was a prominent producer and supporter of Taiwanese aboriginal artists. His last work was to be the solo-outing Across the Yellow Earth in 2001, sadly just as Difang was gaining much-deserved international acclaim, he passed away (blood poisoning due to a centipede bite) in March 2002 at the age of 82. His wife who, whose vocals accompanied Difang's chants, passed away a month later.

I sat for 2 hours on my own going through every single song we ever listened to together, and this song came on and I cried 😢 😭 this was dad's song for as long as I could remember. So this played as the catafault was closing and his body been lowered. Perfect fitting song to the most amazing human to ever grace us with his presence.. HE RETURNED TO INNOCENCE. I noticed while reading the comments that most of you feel nostalgic for your childhood when hearing Enigma music. We are all different ages, different looks, and different countries, but there is always something that unites us as human beings. We are all connected. The old man died and his whole life flashed before his eyes in reverse order. He remembered where he had been, where he worked, whom he loved, how he walked under the same pear tree when he was a child. And he even remembered the moment of his baptism. He was apparently a good man who lived an honest decent life. Goosebumps. An ingenious clip!

Love Devotion Feeling Emotion Don't be afraid to be weak Don't be too proud to be strong Just look into your heart my friend That will be the return to yourself The return to innocence The return to innocence And if you want, then start to laugh If you must, then start to cry Be yourself don't hide Just believe in destiny Don't care what people say Just follow your own way Don't give up and use the chance To return to innocence That's not the beginning of the end That's the return to yourself The return to innocence That's return to innocence

Your so right, what happened to us all, greed, a person/people define themselves by how much they earn, have you noticed one of the first questions asked is what line of work are you in, you answer, they define you on that one thing, not knowing anything else about you, even if you were doing allot of charity work, in the back of allot of people's minds is the level of money they earn and the higher they earn the more worthwhile it is to hang out with them, it's lunacy.

This song changed my Life. I was 15 around the time it was released getting into trouble pretty much giving up on everything and putting stress on my Mother. I've always loved Rap music apart from today's mainstream so never really cared about Enigma back then. Return to Innocence would pop up on the radio quite often. I woke up one morning and turned the radio on and here's this damn song again lol.. I sat there just listening to this song while my mother was doing dishes looking stressed. I started feeling weird I was getting emotional. I got up and helped her and started to realize the importance of taking care of her, being there for Her. Will always love this song

The grass always seems greener on the other side..Truth is the internet can be a beautiful source of knowledge and many socially awkward people find friends and comfort online not to mention the aid the internet gives us in emergency situations , recipes ,news, communication, entertainment and of course music....if there was no internet yet someone told you about it you would probably long for it...everything can be used for evil, but dont forget the good....and also remember you can always just turn off all your devices and disconnect for as long as you like,my guess is you wont disconnect for too long because the internet is a huge convenance in your life ...i pray you embrace this privlage that many cant afford to enjoy.. ...God bless you!

This song is brilliant - it shows how life can be short but still, it is carved with naive, emotional, and impacting moments. It makes us think about our anxieties, hard work, family, stresses, etc. To sum up, it pushes anyone to rethink life and sort out the real relevant things from the useless ones. By far, this piece of music is made by highly intelligent artists.
