Hey Rach and Wills, Ah we absolutely loved this guys! I (Shell) was in the secret seven camp too as a child. My twin sister and i also loved reading the short stories by Enid Blyton, she really knew how to capture children's imaginations 🥰. There was certainly lots of inspiration in Dorset for the books, Corfe Castle is just stunning 😍 🏰. Think our favourite place was the whirlpool, how pretty! And the blue pool was also lovely (nice drone shots by the way Wills 👌). You guys packed so much into three days! This was a nostalgic watch, brilliantly put together as ever. Jolly well enjoyed that 😊🙌. Have a fab week ahead, Shell and Pete 😊👍

The whirlpool at stair hole is gorgeous as are the views over lulworth cove from there. Cheers again 🍻

The weather and countryside conspired to make this a gorgeous video. A really pretty region. I loved Enid as a kid. I don't think I read any of the Famous Five books though. Funnily enough whenever Aldi here has a kids book sale they have boxed sets of Famous Five or Secret Seven available so they are still very popular. I think our Georgia read most of them when she was younger.

The Enid Blyton Trail is definitely something I'll put on the list of things to see and do when I'm in the UK, it's such a beautiful part of the country. Reading some of your comments I thought it was interesting that Americans didn't really know her books, I had thought she was like the JK Rowling of her era, known and read by children all around the world. Seems like she was mainly read in the UK and definitely Australia, the books are still in bookstores here, and there wouldn't be anyone over a certain age who hadn't read an Enid Blyton book, or had them read to them. The Magic Faraway tree was made into a picture book and popular with young children (My university job was in a bookshop!)

Oh my oh my - Dorset has just gone right up my places to go list for this year. Enjoyed every moment of this one. I read all the Famous Five books but read and re-read the Secret Seven books as I grew up, I assume those were inspired by the same areas though. Warm wishes from Millionaire Paul :)

While Wills was in the gallows, you should have locked him in! Is it called the gallows? I’m not sure. The stocks maybe? I should have looked it up before I commented. Sorry.

It doesn't! It's in the care of the national trust. If it becomes dangerous, it's repaired. We have quite a few different trusts in the U.K. that look after different historical sites. Membership helps to preserve them so they can be enjoyed. Do you have trusts like that in the USA?

I don't know why people feel nostalgic about Enid Blyton, I hated most of her books when I grew up in the 60s. I thought they were crass, class biased and silly.

Each to their own I guess. I can see where you're coming from, but as kids we just got lost in the adventures and didn't see anything outside of those. Cheers for watching though. 🍻
