Mate, we've all been there. First thing I thought when you said overheating was Blocked primary heat exchanger. Once they start clanging it just shakes off more debris thats coating the tubes of the exchanger. You later proved that from the curved flakes you got out. If the installer had properly chemically flushed the system when he installed the boiler, this would have been avoided. Good video, made me smile.

Hi Ollie, I've just upgraded from a 455 to a 458s and it works great. Direct co and co2 measurement. Like others, I've been disappointed with Tesco and anton. Videos are great by the way

Sometimes you can be lucky some boiler manufacturers have a filter fitted in the return boiler connection which can when cleaned allow everything to work fine again and at least it would warn of dirty system. Good video 👍

I have the 455 great piece of kit. If it commercial as in comcat work I would recommend a separate unit made by vent check. Fantastic. Basic. But accurate

Solder work was bit of a mess on the pipes considering a pro had installed the boiler. I was an electrician and my second trade was plumbing, my soldering wasn't too bad but I recently had my boiler replaced by a guy who worked for the local council. His soldering was incredible. There were no visible signs of solder anywhere. With glasses and torch I inspected the solder joints when he had gone. I could just make out a very faint ring of solder inside the fittings. Amazing, best I've ever seen.

@@HeatingGeek Yes I agree but as you know yourself you can have joint with tons of solder on it but it can still leak. I think this guy was just so experienced and definitely a master of plumbing. I think if you cut open one of his joints it would be perfect with a perfect distribution of solder. I'm a really tidy painter and never get paint anywhere except on the thing I'm painting but pro painters Qalwaysseem to get covered in paint. It's nice to see a craftsman these days.

You won't go wrong with the Eurolyzer STx analyser great for domestic and industrial, blueline industries. Small independent business with a super quick turn around on calibration. They send you out an analyser whilst you send yours off for cal.

How did I do it? I cant Remember? I never rewatch the videos. ;-)

I use a MRU delta smart..great bit of kit for commercial.. Has Bluetooth to the app and allows to send combustion report directly from the app via email. Also on commercial sometimes the probe isn’t long enough to reach the front, the app allows you to see readings on your phone. One good thing also is if the Co in the boiler is very high, it purges back to zero very quick once removed. I found the anton would need to be left on driving down the road to clear

@@HeatingGeek I’m in Ireland and there is an agent based here. I’m sure you’d find a company in the Uk from google.. Also if you use viessmann boilers, they have a points system and one item they offer is the MRU delta smart just branded viessmann.. I also seen the Riello engineers in Uk when I was over using these so they can be got. They are more expensive than others but worth it IMO. Hope this helps

It's a good idea to purge the boiler and system of the air you introduced into the system when you were working on the unit, just opening the filling loop to increase the pressure is not sufficient. Golden rule is never fire a boiler or system that's not bleed properly and when doing commercial and industrial boilers never fire the boiler without checking that there is someone in it

I have had the Baxi GAs fail in the same way. Just the display completely goes and need a hair drier to get it working.

I don't know if it's too many US Chemical Safety Board videos or The Shining but I could not work on boilers. Super hot water, potentially compressed steam... NOPE. Frustrating about the installer but cheers, this was fun to watch.

Sprint Evo 2 0r 3 are a great piece of kit

I use long nose pliers on the diverter. Sounds airlocked at start up. Worcester are like this in overheat mode.

Yeah, it does sound airlocked but it wasn't. I blead the air from the heat exchanger air vent too.

I used to own Anton v2 .. constant sensors faults cost me a fortune. So dumped it and hit my self a Testo 327-1 and never looked back since. amazing kit for what you pay for it.

I haven’t seen a Sage green toilet suite for a while .That noise was nothing compared to a large old fashioned open vented boiler with a dodgy boiler stat and no overheat .

Custards for ya! I had an ideal logic heating not leaving boiler so changed diverter valve. All fine two days later same issue so checked diverter checked boiler iso valves 50 mins swearing turned out was on a split heating system and 2X 2 port valves in airing cupboard ffs

:-) I think we have all been caught out by 2 ports on Combis :-) Made me laugh when I read that.

I never ran from the front of a boiler and I worked on a few thousand ...: P At a heating installation I had to wash the whole installation twice because when the installer built the installation he poured 25 liters of antifreeze into the installation; after 1-2 years it began to degrade and when it reached the boiler in the heat it turns into pieces similar in texture with a crumbly rubber that clogs all the pipes of the boiler. I only had negative experiences with heating installations to which antifreeze was added...

@@nuconteaza8642 poți sa pui antigel in instalații dacă mai întâi le speli bine de tot de resturi de flux de sudura; resturi de uleiuri anticorozive din calorifere… și apoi măsori ph-ul apei ca sa ii dai o șansa mica antigelului sa aupravietuiasca … dacă nu Riști sa obti o budinca rânceda in toată instalatia și sa o faci buna de fier vechi … Ieri am curățat chimic schimbătorul de apa calda colmatat de la un Viessmann in instalatia căruia s-a pus antigel iar după un an a foat golit dar schimbătorul s-a infundat cu resturi de antigel + alte mizerii din Instalatie intarite in interiorul schimbătorului … mi-a luat vreo ora și 2 feluri de acid sa dizolv tot ce a fost in el…

Nu a mai iesit cum trebuie, centrala fusese si prost reglata, la vana de gaz, mergea blana, ardea gazul ceva de speriat, se plangea de consum doctorul....vai si amar, daca nu am muncit atunci doi oameni sa spalam tot sistemul si centrala si moca, de pila lu patronu...A iesit multumitor, dar pe apa calda, la putere maximă tot mai puteai auzi un usor murmur. Culmea Boschul mai bine s-a curatat....

I know is late answer, but I am a Testo fan, I always trust them, doesn't matter, which one, I think, but 327-1 for me was a pleasure. I had many other analysers, offered by my employers, but those Testo....

I ordered a new 458s about a week ago but still waiting, I have heard they’re the dogs bollox.... I’ve used the new Anton quite a lot and I’m impressed by that as well.. it’s very easy to use. Been told to stay away from testo though

Kane 458s is THE BOLLOX...Foes upto 400kw and NOX too...it 10ddays together delivered...I received mine last week...I can use all my old accessories with 458S

I don’t have any real info on the testo other than I used to use a 327 a long time ago and wasn’t really that fussed on it, but a couple of retailers and other engineers have said they wouldn’t touch them with a barge pole??? I do however like the look of the 300 version

Sounds like the installer fitted that new boiler to a dirty system without flushing of putting a magnet cleaner on the return and caused the iron to back onto the main heat exchanger.

Hi mate i get the testo 330 lx Gete bit of kit for commercial jobs Or any type of job i have had other brands but i have found the the 330 lx is an amazing bit of kit its expensive but i have had other analyser the have let me down on 1am call outs. all so the testo will not brick its self if calibration is out of date i know got to get it done every year But you know there are time when you get busy and it get add to the to do list

Hi Ollie I’ve just upgraded my 455 to the 458s and there’s still things Kane are trying to iron out small issues with it so I’d hang on a while tbh! My 455 was great but Kane’s re-cert fees forced me to upgrade a perfectly good 455 to the 458s, and at the minute I’m regretting it, but it’s all part of there sales ploy! Have recently been informed also that a fair sized company are getting rid of there 458s and moving to another manufacturer due to the 458s flooding too easily??

@@HeatingGeek fair enough, I've heard the testo commercial range are quite decent, calibration is expensive though. You should only need 1 if you're working with force draught burners though. I've always been palmed off with a domestic analyser and got by ok.

@@HeatingGeek just grab a testo for your range it all depends on the BTU value you require and the ppm 1 million and under it’s a 475 I think 🤔 lots of info on there site mine is great beats everything else I have broken in 20 years

Christ you forgot your crystal ball . I use testo 330-2 LL great bit of kit . I spoke to testo about the 300 they still have software issues so avoid that one .

I went for the manufacture, so I get paid regardless. :-)

My knowledge is flushing the system is only for the whole radiator pipe system and radiators to clean and ensure the radiators working properly. I hear the first time the whole boiler is getting to hot aboutthis. From my experience if the boiler is getting to hot it has something to do with the heating chamber where ther whole burning procedure happens. Most i have seen the air flow been blocked and the combustion couldn't get complete to the flue and this heated the boiler up which is dangerous as well because it can damage the boiler and the worst part carbon monoxide could spill into the room because incomplete combustion. However I'm open for new facts i never heard or have seen. If you could explain it to me why the boiler was hot because the system wasn't flushed would be great because if I will have the problem in the future and my experience doesn't work then I have a new knowledge i can use to solve the problem. For me I dont even ask the customer what work they've had done or what's going on with the boiler. They're usually delusional. So you put it on CH and no overheating, but it is on HW. That rules out the pump and also the primary heat exchanger. Probably 9 times out of 10 a blocked plate heat exchanger. Let's say it's only over heating on CH, well that could be a closed system filter. If its overheating on both CH and HW I'd be leaning towards the pump and primary heat exchanger. It's simple really you've just got to look at what the boiler is doing.

ID stands for "Immediately Dangerous". Used when a boiler is a danger to life.

@@27forme2 Less prone to saturation. You can fit AA batteries if it goes flat and you don't have a power outlet. BUT I do prefer my 455 to the newer ones. I had a few problems with the sprint eco I had. Like the water trap getting broken or leaking. In the end I didn't trust it.

I can tell you what analysers to avoid. Antons. I’m a service and repair guy and I do oil and gas work. Unlike my mates who are installers and maybe use their testers half a dozen times a week, mine get used and abused everyday. I started off with a telegan years ago, then got a sprint when they came out, then another sprint, then an Evo2 and also an evo1 as a back up. I wouldn’t buy another Anton. Even though the Pro is out now, I’m not upgrading. I can honestly say, and this isn’t just a silly internet comment, these Evos have been the most unreliable pieces of equipment I’ve ever owned for my business. I’ve never had one go the full 12 months between calibrations without issues. Antons servicing leaves a lot to be desired as well. It’s slow, and twice I’ve had machines returned that didn’t actually work the first time they were turned on after a service. I’ve had faulty pumps, dodgy sensors, repeated temperature probe wires snapping etc etc. I’d personally stick to a Kane if I were you. When I was contracting to BG they gave me a TPI. After one week I chucked it in the van and used my own Anton instead. They are proper Micky Mouse. Don’t Kane do a direct measure tester? I thought their new one was?

I'm glad someone has said that. My feeling was the cases and water traps were weak and they over saturated way to easy. Thats why i Have stayed away from them.

80% of faults due to shit in the system ! Yes you do get electrical faults but mainly crap. Great vids !
