Engine BURST INTO FLAMES on takeoff at Kennedy, JFK. REAL ATC

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

On January 13, 2024.
A JetBlue Airlines performing flight JBU355 from New York J. F. Kennedy International Airport (KJFK) to Ontario (KONT) just started its takeoff roll on JFK's runway 31L when other aircraft EDV523 noticed that the JetBlue's number 2 engine was on fire and emitting sparks. The flight crew was made aware of the fire and they were able to abort the takeoff. The fire was out by the time rescue crews arrived but other aircraft reported the engine number 2 was glowing.

    Yeah, no, it's not Boeing's fault, they don't make engines and they don't do maintenance on engines. So yeah, fair enough. Doesn't change the fact that their quality has gone down over the last 10-20 years, because they've put short-term profits ahead of long-term sustainability. And that is only sustainable for so long. It looks like the consequences of Boeing's corporate greed are finally catching up with them. The problems run deep, and other than the millionth Corporate Speak press release reiterating for the nth time how committed they are to quality while changing nothing, I honestly don't see how they can turn the ship around. Boeing's strongest weapon in competition with Airbus is the 'cheap' price of its planes. And if you want to sell cheap, you have to produce cheap. And if you have to produce cheaply, you usually cut corners. They simply can't raise prices or they'll lose a lot of customers. So nothing is going to change for the foreseeable future.

    It was probably MEL'd. I'm not a jB pilot or an A320 pilot, but at my airline on the 737 it's possible to dispatch on non ETOPS legs with the APU out of service under the Minimum Equipment List (MEL) Most airplane and most airlines have extensive MEL's which allow dispatch with certain equipment inop.

  • @CanyonBlue737Capt

    @CanyonBlue737Capt

    @@elderbob100 In the 3 airline AC I'm type rated in, the fire extinguishing systems are powered by either the battery bus or the hot battery bus. I can't imagine Airbus would do it any other way. So you don't need an operational generator to discharge the bottles. If you did, you wouldn't be able to write an MEL that allowed dispatch with no way to power the fire extinguishing systems.
