Do a reverse 100 mario challenge, where in endless easy or normal you try to reach 99 lives (99 is max) as fast as possible.

I’m predicting *Normal* will be the best difficulty level for this gimmick. I’ve enjoyed all the videos so far, but each of the other difficulties have bigger flaws: - Easy: too many “hold right” levels, hundreds of clears, only 5 lives to start - Super Expert: often no clears or only a few, so less suspense around actually getting the record - Expert: better than the above two, but still borders on the harder side, with fewer clears and a fairly repeatable process of “play once to scope it out, reliably get record on 2nd attempt” Normal?? Just difficult enough to avoid “hold right” and auto-levels, but otherwise lots of suspense around whether you can snag the record

watching panga getting frustrated by that one koopa refusing to get crushed had me dying. rip run

personally I like this format the best. Not knowing what the world record is and ending the run if you dont get it is by far the most entertaining. The suspense of not knowing if you were fast enough just makes it much more enjoyable to watch :)

The thing that makes easy levels so hard for world record is one grind them out but two theyre so jank and filled with awful geometry it’s hard to optimize any sort of movement

People optimise easy levels all the time, especially if they're looking to hold WRs. It's actually pretty interesting optimising these levels; pratically forces you to run through them with wild abandon, disregarding the more obvious and safer route in favour of getting that frame perfect time.

@@stompingpeak2043 It's more about efficiency than quality. It's far quicker to secure five WRs on very short bland levels than it is to grab one WR on a tougher level. The one level may be more enjoyable and more rewarding to play, but that's not really a factor in securing WRs. Also, I'd argue that frame perfecting easy levels require you to have extensive knowledge of how the game works, taking advantage of every trick in the book to ensure nobody can take that WR away.

I've always wondered how ppl cld possibly have died in some of these types of levels...all makes sense now

people are really annoyed about not knowing this WR thing... I personally like this version, the game mode is a factor too! I'm fine with anything Panga, just enjoy what you're doing.

I think that knowing the WR is fine or quit for now and get the WR afterwards. It's impossible to tell if someone actually grinded something out and too many lifes are just wasted for thinking that something was too slow

It also makes it more of a risk management game. You have very few lives to work with so it's actually a very important decision whether you throw one away to do a cleaner run or just hope the current pace is good enough, if you could check what the record is beforehand then that completely goes out the window since you'd obviously know when you need to start over and when you don't. You could argue for either system but personally I find his rules much more interesting since they heighten the tension and offer more choices to the player.

The first level surprised me for something listed as "easy" having a tracking enemy. I don't have Mario maker so all I know are Penga levels Haha. Hold right levels kinda suck imo.

0:42 I...have no idea what this level title is. T_T 4:10 level title is, "kinen!!!! Atarashii kyarakuta- fueta yo kinen ko-su ~fuyu~," or "Memorial!!!! New characters have accumulated memorial course ~Winter~" 5:55 level title is, "hajimete no sutoresu hassan ko-su. Kyou no sutoresu sayounara--," or, "First stress relief course. Farewell, today's stress--" 8:11 level title is...just kidding. It's just the particle, "sa." 9:43 level title is, "ko-su shokunin pointo5000 toppa kinen sora no soukai hanjidou ko-su," or "Over 5000 Maker point memorial sky's refreshing semi-automatic course." 11:50 posthumous level title is, "kumo juutan," or, "cloud carpet." 16:00 level title is, "noko noko wo 72 hikitaose," or, "Knock down 72 koopa troopas [nokonoko is what koopa troopas/koopas are called in Japanese--makes the 'nok nok shell' from Super Mario RPG make a little more sense huh?]" 21:35 level title is, "Akahamu ko-su. chotto hito iki yasumimashou," or, "Akahamu course. Most of these words I haven't heard before at all. I recognize hot water (yu), and despite looking up all of these kanji, I'm not getting intelligible words out of them really. furahari apparently means, "flying," probably as gitaigo [word expressing an emotional state, similar to an onomatopoeia but not quite the same]. Mitete means "look!" Rimu could be rim or limb. yofu and sobi are not even on jisho.org as words, and no combination of one or more of the kanji in the order they appear in the level title show up as real words either. Hafu means gable, sowa is more gibberish. Tate na means fresh. Everything after furahari is equally unintelligible to me. So, something about look at the rim, the hot water something something fresh flying something something. 結局に日本語が分からない [In the end I don't understand Japanese.] 33:02 posthumous level title is, "12gatsu kara wa tsubai sareta futsuu no ko-su," or "Tightened[?] normal course from December." Also you got a lot of Japanese levels in this video.

This might be a good way to add a challenge to Easy Endless. The only issue would be whether or not someone got a good time on the stage already (which I try to do when I find an easy enough course). If they didn't, it might be easy to get WR. If they optimized it well, you'd have to possibly do precise optimization tricks (like optimizing acceleration and jumps) or just give up on it entirely if it's too good of a time to beat.

how does he lose by less than a frame? how is that possible (for the ~11:50 level)

It's way more interesting when you are allowed to check the WR. Now you're just blindly hoping for the best and there's no real strategy to it.
