Instead of making a dev exit, make it a bonus room with 1-Ups, to reward the player for exploring. Because putting a dev exit is one of the worst things you could add to a level

Yep, mm2 is pretty dead. When it became all about the trashy hot garbage levels my heart sank. I have spent alot of time making quality levels that get almost no plays and then I make one super bad level with little to no effort at the skill level of a 3rd grader that course gets 6 times the amount of plays, I shake my head in utter shame. What is this game now?

Dave didn't really seem to be feeling it today. Hope you feel better soon, and if I'm over analyzing,I do apologize. Love the vids! They've really helped me get through a lot.

Dave after he fell for parts he didn't fall for before: This level!! MOO! Am i the only one who thought "just throw the spring on the spikes, and jump on it to grab the flag"? Maybe i'm wrong, but it seems Dave was either tired or annoyed that day, right?

It's sad really. Every once in awhile I'll find a short level that I love to Speedrun, but mostly I just find lame and boring levels. Mine aren't much better but still 😂

@@brianinja I actually don't really care about him being "fun to watch". I think the appeal of DGR back then was that he was genuinely happy and having fun while entertaining others. Even when he died over and over he seemed able to keep it together. Now it just seems like... Work. He's just working and that's it. That's what I'm really worried about.

I do miss his more enjoyable content, but the reason it was more enjoyable was because he seemed so into it and he’d laugh/make jokes and obviously be having a good time. Now it all seems forced as you say. I think how fun he is to watch correlates to how much he is enjoying the game as well.

Mario Maker 1 died because Nintendo needed to direct the attention to the newer version, Mario Maker 2, also that way they would make customers like Dave but their new console Nintendo Switch in order to play this new version. It has nothing to do with the levels, and Mario Maker 2 has not died, it's still online an runing like a charm.

This man HATES this game at this point but feels stuck playing it because that’s what his audience expects. Y’all need to watch more of his non SMM stuff so he can break free from this game.

I don't have this game, but it looked like there was grating you could climb in that last level. Or is that something only the cat suit can use? Because it looks like the gratings that Mario could climb in castles in Super Mario World, and you could climb those regardless of powerups.

I can tell you're having an off day when you get almost nothing but hot garbage levels.

I challenge you to beat those 3 levels I made long ago: Chapter 1: RY5-WMR-MWF Chapter 2: 37K-DMR-YPG Chapter 3: KV3-JDP-NDF No dev exit, however those levels are insane hard. It took me hours just to beat them myself AND by also knowing the solution :D Ps: would be cool if you recorded all attempts and not just the solution^^

Mario Maker's a strange psychological trip. I want this concept to soar. I want this concept to be completely and totally.... I want to edit Mario's very official CANON with creative tools through a game! xD I love love love the idea of user made Marios. But Nintendo has had a circular cycle of making these, them getting old, then a new one comes out and that takes off. And the old one? People are still to this day playing it. Possibly for the difference. I am now wondering how MM3 would be like if it just totally lets you do every single thing. Will it recieve new energy? Or are the slopes the last awaited thing for the series as a whole?

And Nintendo could simply fix the dev exit rule by adding it to their maker rules where if found your level has a dev exit your level could be deleted and you could be punished for doing it it would be so simple to implement into their rules like no glitches I hope this is done in Mario maker 3.

Honestly this would seem like a lot of work. Im pretty sure Nintendo has better things to do than to constantly delete levels with dev exits and stuff like that. The only reason why bugged levels were the only exception was because they already have a system that could automatically detect bugged or corrupted courses in the game.

Videos like these are why this channel died. I don't literally mean it, but I miss the old days of stuff actually being made for KZread and not just random stream clips.

@DGR: If the only correct exit is the dev exit, then the dev exit is not a Dev exit. Also they are situation where a dev exit is just an alternate path, since depending on the way you build the level for example dying at check point to progress you need a dev exit to be able to upload the level, and the dev exit as to be complicated to find, and if someone does happen to found it, it waste the player time, so no world record can be done with it, compare to the intended way, if you know the fast way out of the maze without using the dev. exit, since the dev. exit will be garantee slower except if you don't know your way out of the maze

If you HAVE to make a dev exit, please just make sure it's really well hidden. I had one in one of my old levels where to get to it you had to backtrack under the falling bullet bill towers, without getting crushed.

Dave, i think it’s time for you to give up SENSEC. I’ve never seen you more miserable than you were in this video (except when you did the one-chip challenge, but I donated out of pity for that one). Your random uncleared expert videos are way more enjoyable than this. So are the UNOMAS videos (though i realize those take more to put together). And your mariothon idea is awesome, but I can see it’s probably taking more effort than you may have anticipated. Either way, do what you love. That’s what we enjoy watching the most. If you’re truly unhappy, it’s not fun to watch.
