for the clutch claw only build, I like to use a customized safijiva bowgun with all atk with velkana divinity built into it. lets you squeeze in your favorite two piece bonus set. I like to use gold rathian for the squirmiest of monsters, I haven't tested out barioth's set bonus yet, so if the punishing draw skill counts for this, it might be fun to take to the soft-headed ice dragon herself.

You definitely want a recoil suppressor over a 4th close range mod on that spread HBG build. Having Fast recoil increases the fire rate and increases the overall DPS and safety of the build. (Also one of the few builds where I use an alpha armor piece, the Kirin Jacket a+ works well with gunner builds since a level 3 slot is useful for spread/pierce decorations) Also, I prefer to have level 3 free element on my Sticky HBG build. It increases the magazine size by 1 and gives you more breathing room in case you get interrupted before the auto-reload. It reloads both shots after an auto-reload.

For the *Pierce build* I can add a last con: you're going to be in a pickle if the monster gets into a vandetta against you in particular, yes you have a shield but the damage absorbtion is limited and blocking consumes a ton of energy. In the game-play footage he has a zoo with him (palico+boaboa+tamed wulg) so the monster has as less attention on him as possible. However having Evasion Window 3 can help with that if you can get comfortable with the clunky HBG roll ~ Thanks a lot for these builds Darcblade :)

I like the Zorah hbg over Rajang for cluster. You can use true spare shot for Hollywood bullets. This limits reloading. Also it's rare 11. So, you can throw extra attack augments on it. Or you can go full artillery and reg spare shot. Either way you can output constant damage without worrying about relaod animation with every shot.

Holy shit that sygian zinogre animation looks cinematic AF, its like watching a game trailer. Was this recoded on ps4?

Not really touched bowguns since Tri, but sets like these make me want to give them another shot. Nice work as always dude :)

I do really like your builds. All very convinient to use and accessible. Also they do not focus on dps only but they are for normal, not meant in a bad way, hunters who play and have fun. Thanks a lot. I guess I will update my pierce build 😊

For the crit draw build. Can the Safi snipecannon be used with that build throw on frost craft and the attack 5. Or does that set bonus not appear for bowguns?

Hey I have master rank rathalos armor that comes with attack and weaknesses exploit. I want to go for a raw power build either for normal or spread what else should I add ???

So most of the builds are pretty similar to my own ones even tho they vary slightly ofc like the rajang hbg build with guard skill (i used defense 7 in the armor not mantles and only 2 shield) which ofc doesnt matter since the dmg/survivability is basically the same. But for the clutch build i can recommend the fully custom-modded zorah hbg or the hornking blazooka as well. First one sadly cant use non-elemental but has a good clip of sleep and para which can be used to get some extra status for basically the same dmg output since it has a higher raw (build atk without buffs 557, with buffs 605) also instead of a shield mod i can recommend the wyvern snipe type 2 which hits 800-1k on a softened part

clutch claw frostcraft patched or do i miss something ? i got the frostclaw skill now but he wont do that claw atk ( playing with mouse )

The clutch claw build isn’t optimal for comfort especially if your running peak performance, run health regen augments and recovery up to produce a good dps while making you immortal basically since it’s high risk high reward if you don’t know the monster patterns well

Interesting builds. I too run the kadachi lion. I can tell you though you get way less benefit out of weakness exploit on a pierce build than you would putting those points into agitator or even peak performance. Most of your hits if you're playing right will be hitting regular body parts as it passes through. Best way to get damage up is to pump up those numbers. You generally only tick a hand full of times on the weak points with every shot until the end of the fight when everything is broken.

Brahm Ruzek agitator and peak performance lol if you already have your pierce Jewel and all that stuff that's directly pumping up your pierce and crit and all that, the best way to pump up pierce is with situational stuff like agitator and peak performance. Peak performance is great for hbg because you are generally not moving often. Just play with it. Best thing you can do is give yourself more ammo. So like spare shot and magazine mods for the gun itself all give you total dps because for say a 10 minute time period you spend more time shooting and less time reloading. Gotta thing beyond just raw tick numbers.

I have put together the artillery build. Its pretty close to what is done in this guide. I have 5 guard 5 divine blessing and 3 health boost. Defense sits at over 1000. But man Guiding Lands monsters are chewing through my health pretty fast with 4 shield mods and all buffs. Good thing is though I make a great decoy for the rest of the team. Its painfully obvious the monster AI immediately drops what it is doing to jump on me every time I let guard down to do anything. I have tested it multiple times. Did something change in a patch in the last year to make this build not as viable?

The Fulgar Anjanath/Banbaro High Bow Gun+ some armor with some skills and things is usually what I'd go with when using those HBG's personally. The bowguns add the ability to do substantially more damage than if you were to go without a weapon. The armor with skills and stuff not only has the benefit of providing you with a defense level that is not zero, as well as skills and stuff that do things and stuff which is EXTREMELY beneficial when shooting things and stuff OR pew pewing things and stuff. But really... Take whatever ammo type you're using... Look at one of these builds and copy the armor he suggested for the ammo type desired if you really need a recommendation for a specific bowgun.. If it's an elemental ammo desired then just build a set with ammo up rank 1,2, or 3 depending on which ammo level used.. Throw on the charm of the desired element OR get armor with skills that suit your playstyle or damage boosts like agitator that also has enough level one+ level 4 deco slots for you to use the decos you've got to boost the element desired.. This is if you've gotta use the spare shot charm in order to aquire some kind of spare shot because it's not on your weapon/armor. Then again this is coming from a guy who uses dual blades and is a TOTAL NOOB at using any kind of gun in this game... So assuming you've used guns at all, maybe you should just try and build a set yourself instead of requiring someone to hold your hand for not only every weapon type in the game, but also specific weapons within that weapon type as well (like wtf man seriously... You want him to give you a specialized build for every single possible HBG in the game? Wtf kind of question was this, now that you've had 9 months to ponder your idocy. Are you still waiting for his reply before you take the next step in the game or? Maybe you put your big girl pants on?) In other news: I am a complete and total jackass who commits crimes of the highest level of jackassery in this comment. I don’t believe that spare shot works for Rajang HBG, you still do the auto reload when firing the sticky. It probably works for cluster bombs and wyvern ammo, but it doesn’t seem to work on sticky.

I'm using the Rajang one for sticky and spare shot kicks in and doesn't consume my ammo. I mean after I shoot, sure the gun has the quick reload animation but when spare shot kicks in, ammo is saved

for lightbowguns you got a thunder/water build with the xeno lunastra lbg. not sure with hbg since i dont play that too much, but you could always use the razorsharp charm if your build doesnt relies too much in a specific charm

Joxny you are better off going for a sticky build for safi until you get the aqua shot LBG and set that up for either sticky as well or even better for rapid fire water. It obliterates safi wings and back.

Your pierce build needs more affinity dude, you're not going to be hitting tenderised parts all the time. Replace weakness exploit with maximum might for 100% affinity regardless of parts you are hitting. HBG pretty much always has full stamina when shooting.

It's a Sidegrade, also in MHW there are not always straight up "better" weapons it depends on your build, how you play and what do you want to use it against.

Ah yes, I've always wanted five hundred and firty-free attack.

In my opinion bowguns have always felt very poor in term of gameplay and sadly it's not realy different in world. I realy hope they rework it with real combos/dodge advanced moves like they ve done for bows or various new mech (lbg mines are ok). Because now it's just spamming OP ammos on monster head. HBG is only played because dammage are broken and realy easy to do...

it´s that one weapon that scale like crazy with proper builds and ammo spam. Gameplay wise it´s rather boring overall. Positioning is the biggest deal with HBG i would argue.

No recoil suppressors is very wrong for dps.

Yeah the title is wrong but that's not the problem. You say end game builds and pre safijiiva. They are good but certainly (and unfortunately) if it's not with Safi it's not end game right now.
