According to what I recall, Zeus ate Athena, her sister, and their mother since the sibling of Athena was foretold to be more powerful than Zeus (and later took Zeus's throne?). I'm not entirely sure. Yet here was Ares, who had not even been foretold to surpass Zeus in strength, yet he defeated them all with the help of his allies.

It was foretold that a children of zeus would surpass him like he surpassed his father. Thus, he ate the unborn athena to avoid it. I suppose he/she just imagined an hypothetical situation in which the greek mythology is real and this video could explain why praying is useless, for the reason I already wrote. This is only in comics. The greeks and romans fully believed their gods qnd goddesses were not only alive but judging them at all times. The end of the mythology was Christianity rapid spread throughout Rome, that combined with Pampe its easy for people to understand. That being said the romans just transfered their gods to Abrahamic belief. Zeus became God the father, Apollo archangel Michael, Hermes Raphael and Eros became Gabriel. Hera became the holy spirit represented by the white dove. Satin became aries, and as Roman conquered new European lands they changed even more pagan beliefs to fit Christian themes. Christmas is actually a slavic holiday that celebrates if you wondered into father winters realm and he gave you gifts instead of killing you. Father winter was a frost demon that'd judge weather a person was good or bad and give fabulous gifts to good people and kill bad people.
