    I love how they equate Ares with forces of evil and Aphrodite with forces of good. Aphrodite was one of the most petty of all the gods and goddesses, personifying vanity, jealousy, and selfishness. But because she was pretty, she gets a pass. Hestia, the eldest and one of the kindest, gentlest, most compassionate of all the gods and goddesses, barely gets a mention. This still speaks directly to the human condition, no matter how "enlightened" we think we've become.

    Let me say that Greek gods and goddesses can have sky, earth and under earth aspects. Regarding Aphrodite, according to Plato there is Πανδημος the earth aspect who is quite as you describe her, the conditioned love, what can you do when you fall in love, and the Ουρανίαν the sky aspect the unconditional love which is the true beauty. Hestia has only sky aspect, her name in Greek means the center, the fireplace that is in the center of a house, so she represents the inner fire, the very core of the soul and she is of course one of virgins showing purity (Athena higher consciousness- wisdom and Artemis the wild nature are the other virgins). the ancient Greek and later the Romans especially those participated in mysteries had Big respect to Hestia, but yes the majority of people always wanted to fall in love with a person ;) Ares and Arenes (men in greek) have the same root as you can see, and the r- and ro- in words show roe ροη flow, so he is the masculine energy flow, in earth aspect yes he is very brutal, warlike, his sky aspect is what you can call warrior of light, spiritual defense - the action of higher wisdom (Athena). I hope you find these interesting :)

    When I was in middle school, we were studying Greek gods and I always found these stories, very weird. So I made my own interpretation in which: Zeus, Hades, Poseidon, Hestia, Hera and Demeter really existed once. They were the children of a rich couple in Ancient Greece but one day, the father (here, Cronos) started to be afraid of the future because he was losing money and he was afraid to see his family become poor in the future. So, to be sure that none of them would become poor, he went to kill all his children. His wife and their youngest son: Zeus, survived because the wife hide with the baby outside of the house. But she wasn’t able to save her other children who were slaughtered by their father. Then, Cronos went to find his wife (Rhéa) and Zeus to kill them too. Since she didn’t want to lose another child, Rhéa took a stone and attacked Cronos with it. She hit him many times in the face with this rock without stopping, she was in rage for what he had done to her children. She hit him around 28 times until Cronos stopped breathing. He was dead. Afraid to be punished for her crime, she ran away with Zeus and went to live with a shepherd who raised Zeus as his own son. But Rhea was still grieving from her loss. So she imagined a world where her children survived, where they were gods and goddesses who would change the fate of the world. She created the Greek Mythology

    @Wuxxy My only exposure to Greek Mythology is from Rick Riordan’s book and it was ages ago so my memory is somewhat rusty, but from what I remember, at one point, Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades was arguing who should got what and because Zeus was kinda the hero in the Titan wars, he get to choose first and he choose the sky, then Poseidon choose the sea, and Hades only has one choice left that is the underworld so hence my comment. I’m not trying to say that the underworld is inherently bad, it’s just that the choosing sequence make Hades a bit more humble because he didn’t get to choose. Sorry for getting it wrong

    The reason why Hades is so chill with humans compared to Zeus and Poseidon is because he deals with human souls, which are technically humans (sort of) on a daily basis, and probably came to know how humans function. He's not cruel or very kind, but he is calculating and fair, and understands life on a human scale, and acts accordingly. He even prefers the Underworld to above where the tyrannical rapist manchildren that are his two brothers stomp about.

  • @omniavanitas7893

    @omniavanitas7893

    2 жыл бұрын

    He is "chill" because he has little reason to be otherwise. Humans were so terrified of him that they didn't even dare speak his name, let alone do things that would piss him off. Still, when offended he was hardly any kinder than his fellow gods. When some Thebans refused to worship him properly, he inflicted the entire city with a plague and was only appeased when he received human sacrifice.

    @@omniavanitas7893 I mean, people were afraid of Zeus too, and when he or his sea ape brother were slighted in even the smallest way, they killed hundreds of thousands. We have to be careful when we mix Greek mythology with actual events, as religious leaders sometimes used the terror of a seemingly divine punishment, like a plague, for their own interests.

He’s the god of the dead, not death either-(which is Thanatos) Hades welcomed the souls to the underworld and ig? gave judgement and helped guide them to their afterlife. whether that be their Elysium (like Heaven), the meadows, or Tartarus (like Hell)
