I believe Elvis knew he was loved by his fans. But in the end he was performing with congestive heart failure puffy from upper respiratory congestion and upper body fluid not being pumped appropriately by his congested heart. He never slept well and he kept those things from his fans. Such a wonderful tribute. Thank you Wayne Newton for sharing his inner thoughts. 😢

His own daughter who only had him 9 years, said she knew he loved her so much and would protect her from any harm. He established so much love in her heart she was defending him up until she died. She always said she was trying to find a man who come even close to him, and never could. That's why she was so destroyed by her son's death because she said her son was so much like her father. Elvis made such an impact on people it was a phenomenon we we never see again. Another great interview, is from Bill Medley of the Righteous Brothers who was a fan and friend of Elvis. Not sad. You are the best Ray

Our Elvis .... I was just one of many people who wanted his life to be full of love and kindness and caring friends...never wanting him to feel used...lonely...sick..or exhausted...he was never sure if his friends really cared or loved him or were they in his life for what he could do for them...a very lonely place to be for anyone. We love you Elvis...always.❤ Thank you Jennifer for sharing this video with us eventhough it was heartbreaking... thank you Ray for your thoughtful reaction ...have a beautiful anniversary celebration with your beautiful Stacy...such a wonderful couple.❤❤

The interviewer was Ralph Emery. He hosted his own radio show in his early career. Also worked on a rock and roll radio station. He hosted a country music talk show (television) called Nashville Now. It ran from 1983 to 1993. He was well liked and respected in the county music world. Wayne Newton would never have agreed to be on the show if he thought Ralph was less than respectful of Elvis and his memory. Ralph already knew the truth about Elvis. He was asking the questions that would give Wayne an opportunity to let the viewers know. I adore your protective attitude toward Elvis! 🤗

You said it Ray. I never watch any footage from 1977, I can't. This is the only time that I will because of Wayne Newton's song for Elvis. I can't watch 77 footage, because it hurts just knowing he was on death's door. Knowing how much pain he was in. He LOOKED sick. Just knowing how Lisa Marie was afraid for her father and asked him if he was going to die. Elvis had wonderful people in his life that loved him. He didn't have enough of them though. He was surrounded by takers that he trusted. Those that used him until he was gone and then they continued to use him after his death with their books. As Lisa Marie wrote in her song Nobody Noticed- "You were lovely, you're still lovely, you made me and I love you". She was right and now she is with him. Both of them gone, far too soon. This is a wonderful tribute to Elvis and I thank you Ray for reacting and for the requestor. TCB⚡👑🎸

I am right there with you - I can only watch 1977 in small doses because it hurts so much to see his illness and his pain. What hurts most during the last footage of the televised show is watching Elvis having to be helped off the stage. He gave everything. Even as he was walking toward the exit and his car, his walk is unsteady and rather lumbering. It devastates me whenever i happen to see it. I hope he is in the arms of Jesus, and knows how much he is still loved.

Me too - After Seeing the E Hollywood BS Documentary She Cried - And Called Red / Sonny West Slime MF'S - Then too in Germany She told the story again in an interview - She said in the Article They were trying to take his Dignity Away - So She went into the Studio and wrote the song and recorded it -- I heard broken footsteps Was that you limping Well, I wish that I had spent Just a little bit more time with you Tears on my ceiling Weren't you watching Well, I guess none of us Will ever know what comes after this You're still lovely You were lovely then All that you had to endure I guess nobody noticed it I know your resemblance It's out there walking And I wanted you to know That I haven't forgotten Well, they tried to make You look broken But not while I'm living 'Cause I wanted you to know that I heard what you said While it was raining You're still lovely You were lovely then All that you had to endure I guess nobody noticed it You made me. I love you and Did you know nothing has changed And now everyone they notice it Everyone notices You're still lovely You were lovely then All that you had to endure I guess nobody noticed it You made me. The interviewer - Ralph Emory - was actually a very sympathetic and kind man. I think he was trying to phrase the question so that Wayne could give the information that he wanted us to know. - I have seen this letter many times, and I believe it was rather a good-bye. Elvis' family history was such that I believe he knew things were drawing to a close. I've read many books about Elvis and seen so many videos, but one thing keeps coming up. Parker kept telling Elvis to keep to himself as much as possible to keep the "mystery" of Elvis alive. Even though Elvis was continually surrounded by people, there really wasn't anyone he felt he could be completely open with. Not Priscilla, not Charlie Hodge or Joe Esposito or Jerry Schilling - nobody. Each of them may have gotten a piece from time to time, but nobody got it all. There were so many parts to Elvis' persona - the confidant, amazing performer, the "macho" guy with the men around him, the Elvis he was at Graceland, the benefactor of so many charities, the generous soul, and the man who could be volcanic when angry. And if he was mostly a recluse toward the end - who could blame him? The physical pain, the disappointments, the weariness of soul, and nobody to share and understand it. When I think about all of this, I sometimes feel that I have been kicked in the chest and I can't breathe. A basically wonderful, magical, sad, tragic and lonely man. God, I have to stop, I'm crying on the keyboard. RIP, Mr. Presley, and thanks, EP, for everything. KP

Thank you Ray for sharing this video. Wayne Newton was the real deal, too. That is why he and Elvis clicked. There was a lot of negative rumors around Wayne, as there were around Elvis, It seems the rumors continue to grow as the years pass. But you are doing a great service by putting the truth out there. By exposing people to aspects and information that many people don't know. Happy Anniversary to you and your lovely wife. I am excited about y'all coming to Memphis. I hope that someday you will come to Tupelo, Mississippi and see his birthplace. It will touch you like nothing else. We remember you, Elvis, and we love you...still.

This video gave me a lot and Elvis was unable to understand how much love 💘 surrounded him, perhaps he only saw opportunism and felt discouraged, I hope with all my heart ❤️ that now wherever his soul is he feels the warmth of our love and the happiness that gives us just for having existed. Hi from the UK, I remember the night elvis passed into eternity. I was 12 years old. I cried myself to sleep that night. I still have the single Burning Love in pride of place in my record collection. To be handed down to my grandchildren. I play them all the old tunes from way back when, Elvis will always be remembered along with Jonny and June Cash, Otis, Marvin, Michael, Bob, the list is endless. I know they are singing in the family circle in heaven and that it is not broken, it gets bigger. One day I hope I make it there to be in the presence of my lord and saviour Jesus Christ and to be able to sing with them like an Angel. They may be gone but they will never be forgotten.

thank you Ms Jen and thank you Ray. this reaction is beautiful, what a very special choice. ❤ Elvis, even as a very young man, understood the public's curiosity; there are some interviews where he mentions it. it's human nature to be curious about our "idols." but there's a difference between healthy curiosity and being a vulture, out for blood. and of course there's his well-known interview before his show at MSG (or was it the Astrodome?) where he says "the image is one thing, a human being is another. it's very hard to live up to an image."😢🙏🏽🪽 Elvis was so beautiful, so preternaturally talented, so smart, he was SO MUCH. poor man was just a baby when fame hit and hit so big and so hard that it had never been seen before... everything we know about "superstardom" is from Elvis. he did the best he could, even as the best hurt him (isolating himself behind a group of confidantes who were flawed themselves at best, and selfish / vindictive at worst). no one knew how to handle this level of fame or talent. it was unprecedented. 📸💫⭐️ and we know how protective Lisa was of her daddy, and of what we know via her own interviews, how she too knew of course that Elvis was flawed, human, but what a special person he was (not just because he's her father!) she lived her whole life being scrutinized, and all she ever wanted for her dad was to be remembered FAIRLY. during the press tour for her song "Nobody Noticed It" she mentions time and again how dare these so-called protectors of Elvis turn on him and take away the one thing he cherished most, his dignity. some defenders of his inner circle say well, she was just a little girl when he died, she never got to know her "real" dad. screw that!!! and the salacious press that continues to this day, screw that too! those who knew both Elvis and Lisa best say they were truly twin flames of a sort, old souls who loved each other so so so much. when ELVIS director Baz Luhrmann first inquired about Elvis from Lisa, she gave him her blessing for the movie: she knew her dad had his foibles, she asked that he just treat him fairly and with the dignity he deserves. that's love, folks! 👼💗🧚🏼‍♀️ ANYWAY, thanks again for this beauty Relvis. stay in the light, not the shadows; your channel keeps the best of Elvis alive. you are doing great work and spreading the joy. ❤️ now go celebrate... happy anniversary to you and Stacey! 💕🥂💕

Not anyone can take away what Elvis did for his fans he was very loyal to them he always such a great entertainer and he gave us great movies to watch they were funny to watch and they were amazing to watch on TV no one has the right to ask questions like this guy did yes Elvis was sick and he knew he was going to die at the age of 42 just like his mother did and then many many many years later we lost the one person Elvis loved with all his heart and his life his daughter Lisa Marie Presley it was very hard for her mother to buried her only daughter by a man she still loved with all her life even after their divorce and this song brought me to Tara line I lost a family member witch I did along time time it was the year 2000 I lost my dad he knew he had cancer and the doctors told him he had 6 months to live but in his mind he was going to go sooner and he did they found out in April of 2000 and he died in June of 2000 so this brought me to tears really bad but thin in 2012 I lost my husband who promise me he would never leave me but he did at the age of 47 he died of a massive heart attack in his sleep when I wioke up i tried to wake him up so i could go pay our light and cable bill cause he had the money on him and he would not wake up i felt him and he was kinda cold i went screaming to our neighbors csuse we were friends with them they can and the guy check him and he told me he was dead so i called 911 crying and told them that my husband had died in his sleep of course they since the police and the ems came to then they told me he was gone I hit the flour then i called his sisters vause his parents both had died he older sister did not seem to coare but his younger sister cried her husband got on the phone and ask me what happen to eulice that was my husband name and i told him that Eulice had died in his sleep he said they would be there as fast as they could when they got their the corners were there and pronounce him dead we all three said our goodbye and they ask me to come home with them then me and his sister were on our way to pack up his cloths and she said that her and her husband were talking and they said if i wanted to i could live with them for and that if i agree I could give them $ 200.00 dollars a month to live with them and I did I lived with until 2016 till i moved out on my own so this song has so much meaning to me i know this is a long comment but just wanted to share my story

Well, 1st, a 🍾Happy 16th💝!!! Well deserved 😊 2nd, Ty Ms. Jennifer!👍 ..the Best 🎞 I have seen of him regarding a part of his life. 3rd, Mr WN true self discipline in respecting his wonderful friendship with Elvis by stating as u say.."The Facts!" The fact he Honored & still does his relationship with him is shown by this song among his words of love within this video. I feel Elvis is proud here just as much as he was when he received the Jaycee Award back in the 70s as.1 of the Outstanding Men for his Contribution and Humanitarian 🎁🎁's. He is truly an 😇ngel In Heaven as he was here on Earth. Finally, as @hillsbourghguy states it & very well.."You have a beautiful heart just like Elvis did." Tc & thx & as always..✌

Wow Ray. I had not seen this before, and I thought I had about seen it all. This Wayne Newton interview and song, along with your graceful reaction to cap it off, hit like a sledge hammer to the guts. Hard to see Elvis, who had given all of himself to us fans, suffer even 1 minute of loneliness and the world closing in around him. I wonder sometimes if he had hired you and me on in the 1970's as part of the Memphis Mafia ("TCB Baby")...if we could have made a difference. I'm not sure we could have but, I know we would have given it our all as he did for all of us. Peace🙏

I always loved (and still do) Elvis ❤ and I always and still love Wayne Newton. I actually met Wayne briefly once . . . I was working at an FBO (fixed base operator) at the airport in Wichita, KS, for several yrs in the 70's. Wayne was in town for some reason, I don't think it was a concert but don't remember what it was, and he was traveling in a private plane that was tied down (parked, etc.) where I worked. When he was getting ready to leave, we "girls" in the office were notified and we all ran out on the tarmac where the plane was and we talked to him for a few minutes. The funniest part of this story was that it was Halloween and we (I think there were 5 of us) were dressed in costumes! 🤪 So, we were quite the sight, all dressed up and running to the plane where Wayne Newton was standing getting ready to get on his plane! 😂😅 Anyhoo, he talked to us for a few minutes and signed autographs for each of us, shook our hands, then got on the plane. One of the women had him sign her shirt and, of course, there was the joke about him signing the front but she finally turned around and he signed the back. 😂 I can't remember exactly what year this was but, I think I remember that I left there midyear 1976 so this would have been when Elvis 💔 was still with us. But, of course, that cemented my love for Wayne Newton for life. ❤ We were all ages but I was the youngest at about 26, I think. 😅 I think the eldest woman was in her 60's but even she had fun with it. We pretty, much were done for the day even though we had work still left because we were so excited and wound up for the rest of the day! Fun memories, for sure. However, this song completely breaks my heart💔and makes me remember how devastated I was when Elvis died. I was on vacation wiith my 7 yr old daughter and we were traveling the following day from Table Rock Lake in SW Missouri to Elk City in SW Oklahoma which is almost an 8 hour drive. On the radio station I was listening to, they were playing Elvis songs as a tribute to him. I was just bawling my eyes out and was almost despondent for the entire drive! By the time we got to my cousin's house, Staci, my daughter, was completely over the Elvis song marathon. 😂 She was not as invested in it as I was, obviously. ❤❤❤❤

Jane H commenting …. I cried my way all through this, especially the song Wayne Newton co-wrote & sang, using the words of the message written by Elvis. In 1975, it easy to see that Elvis was suffering from clinical depression, when he just lost interest in himself. But he had to keep on performing, because he used to say that so many people depended on him. They should have got him the medical help he needed. His body was constantly wracked with pain. One of his bodyguards said his blood pressure would be sky-high after finishing a performance, & this is what caused his heart to almost double in size, because of the pressure on the artery walls to keep blood pumping around his body. That bodyguard & others, said when Elvis came off stage, he would say that he was hurting all over. He was worn down physically & emotionally. In the last year of his life, he continued to perform on stage, & to keep his fans happy, but he was just worn out, & by now his body was failing & his time was running out, & I think he knew this. Elvis knew God. He knew Jesus. I just think the Lord knew it was time to take him home & to give him rest. After Elvis’ death, Billy Graham was asked if he had ever met Elvis. His reply … “I never did meet him, but I believe one day I will” I’m a believer, & I believe with all my heart, that I will too. I don’t care what lies they make up about a man that made so many millions of people happy in his short lifetime. The racist slur has been proven totally false, as us longtime Elvis fans always knew. They are always trying to drag his name through the mud, & he has been gone for 47 years. This is why I will Not be watching the movie Priscilla. He talked to Wayne Newton, his good friend, about how much he loved his daughter. He doesn’t appeared to have mentioned his ex-wife, & I know he left everything to his daughter. His ex-wife was out of his life & with another man. His love was all for Lisa Marie.

--------- I know this is about Elvis, but Wayne Newton was a real talented showman. He could pick up any instrument in the band during his show, and WOW you with his expertise. Vocally, outstanding too. If you could catch a video 1990s or earlier, you're in for a real treat

The guy running up the steps was his friend and Memphis Mafia member , Joe Espisito, who first met Elvis when they were stationed in Germany. Joe was with Elvis the night Priscilla first visited the house Elvis was renting in Germany. Joe is the man seen on the right of Elvis as he was leaving the stage in this video. I think the film of Joe running up the stairs to Elvis bathroom, was recreated as I doubt anyone was filming when Joe got the call from Ginger that Elvis was on the bathroom floor. Joe tried to revive Elvis as they were waiting for an ambulance. Most members of the Memphis Mafia have written books and many have given interviews. There are vids on KZread of several of the guys giving their thoughts and opinions.

Out of all the Elvis videos you've done, I can't believe you haven't done TEDDY BEAR yet. NOT THE SONG READY TEDDY but the Elvis song titled TEDDY BEAR. React to the video. It's from a movie and he has on red pants with red and white shirt. It looks like western wear. He is beyond gorgeous in this video.
