agreed making a good hand as well as finding one is something that todays people just know nothing about. people are lazy, entitled, and fucked now….addicted to drugs and video games, mentally weak and emotionally unstable…..the fundamentals of being a man is going down the fucking tube…. that’s why people don’t understand that compliment. that 10 min clip….that’s the only thing that stuck out to me was when he said “he was a good hand” that’s a rare and special thing now days.

My father was stationed at Dutch Harbor during the War. He was a flight engineer on a Catalina. Early June of 1942, his Cat was searching for the Japanese Fleet headed for Midway. They received word that Dutch Harbor was getting the duck bombed out of it. The Cats were ordered not to return. They were all on their own. Dad's crew voted to keep searching for the Japanese, even though they knew it meant ditching in the ocean. The very cold North Pacific. As they ran out of fuel, they radioed their final position. Being a sea plane, the Catalina landed on the water. However, it quickly foundered in the rough seas. All made it into a life raft. Three days later, fishermen from Dutch Harbor saved them. They all spent time in the hospital due to hypothermia. But when he got out, Dad got 30 Day's Survivor Leave. He went home and married Mom. What a generation. All thanks to the fishermen from Dutch Harbor. Thanks guys.

When I was in the military I did maintenance at locations up to 200 miles away from the base everyday here in the U.S., and we'd sometimes get BOLOs for missing kids in the area we were driving/working in. The worse time was always getting the radio call for the canceling of the BOLO and then waiting for the response when we called back as to the reason why it was canceled (always was the kid was found somehow, but we were essentially asking if the kid was found alive (no matter the condition) or ....otherwise, without asking if the kid was alive over the radio). Usually the kid was okay (sometimes were told going to the hospital for checkout, but okay), but then there were those few other calls...

I know exactly how this Feels. Through High School I lost 6 friends all within months of eachother some through normal accidents others through freak accidents and each time it seemed harder and harder I felt like a walking storm cloud. But through my family and friends I found the strength to keep my head held high and keep on grinding. Each year I celebrate the memories I had with my brothers all the fine times staying up late playing cards and gaming. So remind yourself of the fond memories you got to have with each and everyone and keep those you still have ever closer dont waste our lives family and friends are all we really have in this world not the items not the money! Love you Guys.

I know exactly what you both mean and going/went through. My sincerest condolences for your losses. It never gets easier and seems to take longer just to get back to okay after each one. You nailed it all square on the head. We gotta keep putting one foot in front of the other, and keep breathing & telling the stories of those not around to do so anymore. Most people dont experience so many losses, especially when many occur so close to each other. To say "I know what you mean, I know what you are going through/went through" is something only someone who truly has been through it. I have laid to rest at least 6 in the last 10 years. Like you said, some I kinda saw coming, and some were a complete blindside out of nowhere. those are the hardest ones to wrap the kind and heart around and learn to accept and still keep going... Respect and thoughts of peace and joyful successes to you in your life.
