Same with me. The beat is simple, but in a good way. There’s no complex deep story behind the song to distract you, it’s all about catching each bar. This is just a young Em flexing with he is capable of and I found it addicting to listen to when I first heard it

Late on this reply. But I completely agree. This was the time and the rhyme scheme and style era with him. NAS. Big l. And many others that didnt need gimmicks. Just classic

The context of Infinite in Em's career is what makes it so much more impressive when listening. The album is raw but means so much in hindsight. Love it.

I love this song because it really is pure, distilled Eminem. He's not going after someone, he's not trying to stir shit up. He's just stepping up and saying "This is me, here I am." This song is a nexus of a genre. Hip-Hop changed after this, forever. You can here the hints of the old in it, but it's still something completely new.

@Chokwe That's debatable, I just feel like Infinite has a slick flow/swagger to it that is unique within his discography

Yeah, he was definitely still working on finding his sound here still. Very AZ and Nas inspired at this point in terms of cadence, flow, writing etc. I think he started to develop it a bit with the Slim Shady EP and then when Dre heard that, he gave Em the opportunity to develop on that with his guidance, production etc and that's where sslp came from. Also, the dude at the end I believe was Mr Porter, long time em collaborator, member of d12 and still his hypeman to this day! You guys really should do Psychopath Killer - Slaughterhouse feat Em, that song is just something else, I think you guys would love it!

@Eden Holdon Learn your history, Eminem was a huge AZ and Nas fan. This album did not do good because they said his style was too much AZ and Nas, which is why he came up with the Slim Shady alter the ego, and change of style.

Now you need to listen to Just Don't Give A Fuck. That was one of the first songs Em made as "Slim Shady" after this CD flopped

between that album and overcast a few months ever; two of my favorite albums for that 10 year period.

I'm late to the game with y'all but this is my all time favorite song. I know every single word and still play this shit everyday at least one, if not 10 times. Eminem produces songs that need to be listened to more than once for people to capture what he says. That's what makes him lyrical genius.

I really like the instrumental, there's something really chill and emotional about it. I like it! But I agree that (to me at least) eminem is a combination of lyrics and the great production/beat.
