    I like how you said Pac wasn't being "Overly Poetic"..That was his charm.He had sort of a simple humaneness in his music.It was direct & practical.The power of his voice made it unique.More of a song writer than a "rappity rap rapper".Most hip hop MC's love to get drunk on words.They'll take something simple, make it seem more complex with superficial wordplay(lacking substance.For the juvenile mind IMO), and fool people into thinking they're "deep".Pac was the exact opposite of that.He could take complex issues and break them down to a simple truth with clarity & understanding.Which is why his ability to connect with people was so high.At the same time, a lot of hip hop "purist" hold it against him.Hip hop is a very strange genre at times.The only genre that loves to shit on their legends.IMO, Tupac was a big fish(Classic song writer) in a small pond(hip hop).No other rapper legitimizes hip hop as an art form more than he does, yet a lot of hip hop purist(mostly in the eastern part of the USA) hate him for it.They say "well he only become popular because he died!" failing to realize the man was just that clever.He had that type of foresight.He purposely created his catalog to be more popular post- death.It was like a prophecy.You can hear it all throughout his catalog.That's crazy vision.The average hip hop listener can't even comprehend Tupac.They'd rather their ears be bedazzled by "lyrical miracle" rappity rap rappers.

  • @flossyangel1
    @flossyangel13 жыл бұрын

    Tupac said he had written the song after reading a newspaper story about a twelve-year-old girl who became impregnated by her cousin and threw her newborn baby in an trash compactor. Asked by his lawyer whether he considered the song a political statement, Tupac said, “Yes….When this song came out, no male rappers at all anywhere were talking about problems that females were having, number one. Number two, it talked about child molestation, it talked about families taking advantages of families, it talked about the effects of poverty, it talked about how one person’s problems can affect a whole community of people. It talked about how the innocent are the ones that get hurt. It talked about drugs, the abuse of drugs, broken families…how she couldn’t leave the baby, you know, the bond that a mother has with her baby and how…women need to be able to make a choice.”

    To me this will always be the starting point of rap as we know it. I think if this song doesn't exist, then rap just wouldn't have become what it became.

    LetsGoToMarsMan same here. Eazy showed us that these cats were on a whole different level. I think that’s why his verse is in the middle of the whole song, just to show people how different they were/are.

    Growing up in the 2000s always thought hip hop was shit. But that was because I was only exposed to modern hip hop. Wasn't till late high school I started listening to Public Enemy, 2pac, Nas and more 80s/90s hip hop

    I'd suggest some Public Enemy because I really think you guys being metal heads would like them since they mash rap and metal together, my three main songs that I suggest you react to are: - Bring The Noise - Give It Up - Sophisticated Bitch
