Embrace the Delight - the August block set!
This next video from the Mokuhankan printmaking workshop in Tokyo is all about carving. Dave creates the block set that will be used to make the August prints in this year's subscription series: Embrace the Delight!
Bonus content includes a trip to his Ome home/workshop, glimpses of the Ninja who work/play across the street from the Asakusa shop, a (rare) segment on inlaying boxwood into a cherry block, and a selection of clips from recent live streams.

In the next video, when will you upload it to your friends' channel when they want to see you?

21:36 🤣 so relaxing
I hate getting nostalgic, but I gotta say, seeing Dave work out of his own house at the 44:00 mark really makes me miss the old vids from 2013-2014 when he had the old Seseragi Studio. It was so peaceful seeing him work on the very first Jed Henry Ukiyo-e Heroes prints with just the sounds of rain, or running water, or birds chirping in the background. Good times.

It's so cool that you make these videos, it's something I would never think about and to see it myself in such detailed while explained is really interesting. Thank you
David is back and everything is alright with the world again 😊
The Return of the King! Take your time Dave, you can't rush perfection :)
This is a GREAT format that may be slightly less work on your end to put out as new content but is really entertaining and something I’d love to see more of, I can’t make most of the streams so getting the highlights and explanations like this is great

I like when Dave says, "lets get to work" or "get to it". I always end up saying, "はい" at the screen.
I have absolutely no idea why this popped up in my recommendations, but I thoroughly enjoyed every minute. Definitely subscribing to enjoy a peaceful hour working alongside someone so pleasant and skilled ❤️❤️❤️

I really admire how passionate you are about your work Mr. Bull, it is always very pleasant to see you work in your videos.
Good to see you back Dave, and good to hear that sonorous voice of yours too!
Excellent video! Having watched the streams for this set, it's neat seeing some of the work happening on it behind the scenes when the streaming cameras are off.
Thank you for another wonderful video, Dave. Whenever I see one of your videos in my feed, I have to set aside time to watch the entire thing uninterrupted from start to finish and I'm never disappointed.
This kind of format is really cool, getting an insight into what’s going on in the other parts of the business with some solid carving alongside enjoyed it a lot.
Good to see you still @work and posting videos, watched much episodes some years ago. Just started watching it again. Good videos, love the story's behind each piece of art, and the passion you are talking about the art of block printing...😁👍🏽

Hello kind Sir !!! When I watch you using the skew knife for so much of your refined detail work as well as ruffing in , it helps to solidify my knowledge of what a main stay that the skew knife has been to woodcarvers for many hundreds of years or even longer & how far superior it is to the now highly touted Wharncliffe style of knife blade used by the soft woodcarvers of North America !!! Like you , I chose the skew knife blade !!! The real woodcarvers knife of origin !!!
I love this design! And wow such delicate carving for the faces
Thanks as always for the great video, Dave! I got an unintentional callout there in the beginning for identifying the boxwood, ha! " [...] although, of course, that doesn't extend to the KZread algorithm [...]." You must be doing something okay, or making the algorithm like you in some way, because I somehow stumbled upon you yesterday thanks to KZread recommendations and a curious click. KZread steered me right, yesterday...! :o This is absolutely lovely to watch. Thanks for sharing your artistry with the world. The intermittent ninja attacks are really funny, and are kind of a joyful break from the otherwise peaceful, meditative work. This video was wonderfully put together! As an ex-artist, it's really satisfying to watch someone with such mastery over their craft create art like you are. I've always wanted to look more deeply into printmaking, but never really did beyond a basic overview in highschool I was lucky enough to have, where we made iterative, 3-color prints with a thin square of rubber, so I'm glad you're sharing your work so I can live vicariously through you, if only for ~1 hr. I don't know you/your channel/your studio, but I have a lot of respect for the work it looks like you and your team are doing - bravo!
Love your content. You've got it all right!
As always an amazing work 👍
