Great to see the King warming up to the words in this rehearsal. Or was there actually a change made to the lyrics? Everything changes when he smiles. Elvis is great whether he is singing or just talking . It's great that the best artists would interpret each other's songs and that is a mark of appreciation and humility . E.g. when Hendrix played Sgt Pepper' s in his London performance which the Beatles attended . Perhaps that's why we love Led Zep adaptations of great 60s music too.

Elvis was nice to the Beatles he did not completely ever blow them away with there song when he did them. Elvis could have but did not what a nice guy. All other song writers did not see his mercy as he almost always blew up all songs written for him by them, making the orinal composer want to go and hide in a cave for the rest of there life…

I recall reading that he learned a song by listening to a demo. I can see how that might be true as he struggled with the phrasing with the lyric in front of him!
@joe6096 Жыл бұрын
There were rumors for years that Elvis had tried to get the Beatles banished from America because he knew people at the FBI and felt threatened by them when they came and pretty much stole his thunder. But after covering Yesterday, Hey Jude, and Something, you have to believe he didn't really try to do that. I'm sure it did bug him though that he was pretty much stuck under contract to do nothing but make those silly, mind-numbing, plotless movies and record the even dorkier soundtracks for them while the Beatles were pretty much moving rock n roll out from under Elvis into a completely different galaxy. Elvis was dancing around in a cardigan while the Beatles were making Rubber Soul, Revolver, and Sgt. Peppers. Either Elvis didn't get what the Beatles were doing or he was terribly jealous and flat out angry that he couldn't do anything about it.

The music is good. I think Elvis was trying to get a feel for the song. He does a great version in his Hawaii concert.

FYI Sinatra covered "Yesterday" by Lennon/McCartney
'the wchay she moves' The first line Elvis cmon 😂
Interestingly (to me anyway), for some reason, he was singing "Don't it make you want to go home" by Joe South at the beginning of the video.
Elvis was nice to the Beatles he did not completely ever blow them away with there song when he did them. Elvis could have but did not what a nice guy. All other song writers did not see his mercy as he almost always blew up all songs written for him by them, making the orinal composer want to go and hide in a cave for the rest of there life…
el maximo Beatle George
I recall reading that he learned a song by listening to a demo. I can see how that might be true as he struggled with the phrasing with the lyric in front of him!
He looks drunk!

that wasn't it, Elvis was imitating the song when the Beatles sang under the influence of LSD and alcohol. And yet it got much better, what a beautiful voice Elvis had.

It's great, but I wish he would have taken it more seriously.
That pianist needed shooting for his/her inane rhythm in a song like this. An example of how Elvis' arrangers would homogenise songs because they could rely on his stupendous voice however saccharin the arrangement. Like so much of Elvis' career, another wasted opportunity to make a classic.
I wonder why Elvis and The Beatles never worked together.

Elvis should have sobered up before he did this rendition, which seems more satirical on his part. Yet its still very good.
