    ",,,, even more attractive" is the proper term than saying EV's are not the answer. In God sake how can ICE be more economically or ecologically be more viable than EV? This propaganda being put out are sponsored by Oil Companies!!! One obvious advantage is that ICE has over 2000 to 3000 parts to assemble while the EV has 30 to 50 parts only. Obviously it will take more resources to produce all the parts of an ICE than an EV. This is a fact they usually leave out in the equation.!!!

    In the not too distant future I think consumers will be given a choice of battery packs in the same way we choose engine sizes V4, V6 or V8. I can see consumers having choice of range, charging speeds and cost with faster charging speeds and greater range costing more money. Low cost vehicles will have a base price that is considered affordable but it will have limited range of say 250 miles per charge with a charging speed of 30 minutes from 10 to 80 percent. The consumer then adds on options like FSD, larger more sophisticated battery packs and an array of features much like we choose with today’s purchase.

    Use only solar power to charge EV. Every time EV goes up in flames, or self driving gets into an accident where the driver is injured, the customer gets a check for $1 million dollars. The fine doubles for each car fire.

  • @jlamm2223443

    @jlamm2223443

    Ай бұрын

    @@Gunter_Custom There are some real advantages. Like the Chevy Silverado gets 440 miles of range. Great. but it weights 3000 pounds. That's a lot of stuff to lug around every time you go to work and back which is only 10 miles. With battery swapping,, a person can maybe lug around 100 miles of range (maybe 500 lbs) and then swap when a long trip comes. Battery swapping also would help your car depreciate a lot slower. A buyer of a used can no longer cares just how good the battery is. Battery swapping also allows cars to upgrade to better batteries as the tech improves. And battery swapping would make the dealerships more happy to sell EVs, since they would have business swapping batteries at the end of lease periods, etc.

  • @Gunter_Custom

    @Gunter_Custom

    Ай бұрын

    @@jlamm2223443 very slim senario . There are a lot of other reasons battery swapping is dumb .. You will never know if the battery was damaged by someone else .. or it's old and when it's supposed to have that 100 miles of range it only gets 70.. or less than 50 on a cold day . Not to mention how many extra batteries they would have to have racked up at each location with the different capacities.. Not economically viable . Like hydrogen.. not economically viable. Also already proven by all the refueling stations being closed by Shell and BP.

  • @jlamm2223443

    @jlamm2223443

    Ай бұрын

    @@Gunter_Custom Well first we can consider whether one is going to buy an EV at all. If the answer is "no", then I would say the points you make are well taken. But if the answer is "yes", then what you say are REASONS for battery swapping. Like you say the following: "You will never know if the battery was damaged by someone else .. or it's old and when it's supposed to have that 100 miles of range it only gets 70.. or less than 50 on a cold day ". To that I would say "exactly", and that is a big part of why EVs depreciate so fast. And because they depreciate so fast, people don't want to buy new ones either. Suppose you bought a used EV and the battery only gets 70 miles when it should get 100. Then fine, "swap the battery:, It isn't a big deal. Compare that to trying to get your money back for a car with a non-swappable battery. Also, suppose you swap the batter and it gets 120 miles when it should have gotten 100. Then fine, just keep the battery and charge the EV through chargers. Also, when you renew your lease, you can decide on whether leasing a brand new one, or gently used one. By swapping the battery out, the dealer has a chance to do a good check on the battery, perhaps with ultra-sound, etc., to give it a certificate of it being in good shape and good for X miles on a charge. Also, as batteries get better, you can choose to upgrade from 100 miles to 200 miles next lease and pay the same money, or keep what you have for less money, knowing well it was fully new when you first leased it and you have gotten in no accidents. You can even go to the dealership and let them lease it out if you are going to be gone for 6 months. You can swap a few days for a brand new 1000 mile battery for that trip to Miami and then get your old one back. And you car does not depreciate nearly as fast since a buyer does not have to take your word that the battery is good. Just swap it at the first sign of trouble, or pay to have it taken out and really checked.

  • @Gunter_Custom

    @Gunter_Custom

    Ай бұрын

    @@jlamm2223443 well I completely disagree ..and so does Elon Musk .. he has said many times that battery swapping is not economical for anyone .. And since no one does it in the USA and none of the US manufacturers are planing on doing it.. It's really a worthless conversation .. But good luck to you and we will probably meet again. 😊

    I will buy a new Tesla as soon as it gets a fast charging Million Mile battery. Elon should make the Million Mile battery an option now and not wait until 2025. That would sky rocket sales!!!

    Sorry! You have missed so many of the issues with EVs. A million mile battery is not going to make a golden carriage out of a pumpkin! Ask yourself, where is the electricity coming from? When Elon makes Electricity so available that it is free, then will be only one of the many hurdles to overcome. There is not the copper in the world to provide for everyone to own an EV! Full stop!

    Interchangeable battery pack stations is better? With world EV makers agree on battery specs and confrigerations, it is possible to do so. If batt switch speed become shorter than conventional charing time, it will beome reasonable for anybody to choose EV over IC vehicle.

    Any anyone please advise why a battery would be rated based on distance travelled rather than charge discharge cycles ? If the battery doesn’t come with a manufacturer’s warranty to match the claim does to really anything.

    The miles are what people can easily wrap their brains around ..most ice cars won't last 200k miles .. so it is easy to compare. Plus the size of battery and number of charges needed to get to 1 million miles will be different for all the different size vehicles ..😊

    A battery is a fuel tank. A very expensive fuel tank.

  • @PETERJOHN101

    @PETERJOHN101

    But that fuel tank doesn't require an engine and only costs 2 cents per mile to operate. The electric motor needs no maintenance, service, oil, or replacement. Down the road, what you save in fuel will pay for a new battery pack assuming you want to keep your car more than ten years.
