One of the highlights of my beautiful mother (she's 95) was being apologically stopped by a policeman in the 1950's when I was a kid, and asked if she was Elizabeth Taylor. Mom was very beautiful but it was so flattering, none the less.

Elizabeth Taylor had a lot of charisma and magic to her...an especially unusual level of glamour...the ability to sort of wrap herself in an aura of elegance, and a sort of royal generosity to go with it. She also let Johnny set himself up, and knocked him out of the park, multiple times! I've never seen another guest gently just zing him repeatedly like that...!!!

She was such an amazing women. No one believes me when I tell them this, but my family was actually quite close with Elizabeth. My grandmother was close friends with her in the 70’s and 80’s. When Elizabeth was married to senator John Warner, they both went over to my mothers house when she was a child, as my grandmother was working his campaign. It was around Christmas time, and Senator Warner asked my mother what she wanted for Christmas. She said that she wanted a telephone, but it was too expensive. Elizabeth and John have my mother the money to buy a telephone and to this day, it’s our best family story. I wish that she was still alive and I was able to meet her. May her soul Rest In Peace.

Want a shocker? I know her personal physician and the medical examine who did her autopsy. I have seen her medical records and I can honestly say, both from my opinion and from the two of them as well, I've never known another human being to consume so much drugs and Alcohol and not die from it. She consumed more drugs in a single day than most addicts do in a year. Here's the thing, she would have never made it past 30 if she didn't. The amount of physical pain she must of experienced every moment of everyday is astounding. How she didn't die of shock is beyond me. I wish people would be more honest about things like this. More people might be around today if they didn't feel the need to hide and are ashamed by what is required for them to function.

I can relate. I’ve always been horse crazy. My best gifts also were horses. One when I was 9 and my dad got me one for Christmas. 🥰. Then when I was in my 20’s, I was given a horse that had belonged to my riding teacher ( that I had taken lessons on). I had him until he died of old age.

Some might interact with their audience a little in some ways, but it's not the same quality of connection. And even watching at home on the TV, as I did as a kid, I felt included. Thanks for making that point. 😊

She said Elizabeth was one of the kindest, most generous people she ever had the privilege to know. She gave wonderful parties and lunches on her patio at her home in Califirnia. She liked giving people cats, and gave her a beautiful tortoishell cat as a birthday gift. I recently found a photograph of James Dean with a cat purportedly given to him by Liz after the filming of Giant. I messaged Jorjett and she confirmed Liz did in fact gift James with a kitten. A career spanning her lifetime since childhood. I've watched her movies from her career beginning to her last performances. Her life was several lifetimes lived, all concentrated into one persons life. She just kept going, & living & accomplishing, with fierce determination to overcome all adversity. When you'd think that she certainly couldnt.... she could, & bounced back better than before, every time. Unbelievable life, in a very believable woman.

With zero morals. Why does she get a pass for cheating on everyone and stealing her friends husband? Because she’s pretty? Still a terrible person

I am obsessed with this woman! I have read her biography and have her coffee-table book on jewelry! What an amazing, yet, tragic life! I love reading about her perseverance through illness and, especially, love! Rest in peace, dear lady!

Her life was anything but tragic; it was victorious! Although she encountered much tragedy along the way; she did not let it define her. This is not an easy thing to do. As a character, I mean person, she had a lot of courage and spirit. We never missed an Elizabeth Taylor in our house. Love that woman.

Add this to your trove of knowledge. Watching an interview with Richard Burton he was aid that Elizabeth was " sweet...very sweet." And that all their problems stemmed from his alcoholism.

Her intelligence really comes through (love how she turns the tables on Carson a few times). It's such a shame women tend to be lauded primarily for their appearance when it is her mind that was always her greatest asset and gave us some compelling performances.

We shall never see the like of Johnny again. A true class act. Growing up I couldn't watch, he was on so late. And as I grew and watched he was a natural and all his guests were treated with respect and seeing him with Lady Liz, wow.

I wasn't allowed to stay up late either but I snuck down anyway. The Civility and respect by Johnny Carson to his guests it's just not seen today. Nor is a guest spot last this long and be interviewed as well. It's all about the dollar and selling something in 5 minutes or less

I always watched Carson. I remember watching carson with my mother and her parents while my dad worked night shift. I guess my family was all night owls and nobody minded me staying up with them.

When I was a young teenager and even preteen, I would stay up at night to watch Johnny Carson and there was nothing like it on television back then or today. He was the most comfortable interviewer and the day he left the show, I cried. How I long for those days…

Wow, what a gorgeous 60 and elegant woman. And Johnny was such a class act and a gentleman. The civility and respect of this interview is what I miss from the so-called talk shows of today.

Johnny was nervous interviewing Mrs.Taylor but you can see he had a great time. She was so relaxed and she is so sensuously beautiful. She's almost earthy but at the same time funny. To be in show business for 50 years and just be 60 years old. WOW! Elizabeth Taylor can be both aggressive and so passive and sweet. I guess that is a Pisces for ya.
