At first, I thought electric jet skis and atvs as very niche, but if you actually consider how these toys get used it makes perfect sense to cut out trips to the gas station and do all your fueling from home. I swear we waste half our gas just making trips across the lake to get more gas.

One benefit that is not mentioned (and which offsets the cost) is lack of maintenance. I have a gas jet ski, and recently bought a Taiga. TBH, I haven't dug into the maintenance requirements (if any) for the Taiga yet, but the gas jet skis need regular maintenance with oil changes/oil filter, air filter, plugs etc. I do my own maintenance now because getting my jet ski to a dealer is a pain, but even then it's expensive and a nuisance. Additionally the cost of electricity has got to be cheaper than gas, particularly marina gas. I figure that consuming all of the battery (2 hours of riding) would cost about $5.00 - tops.

@@Aaron-zl5gq The "All EV batteries have to be replaced after 3-5 years" is a myth. I've been driving a tesla for nearly 10 years. The batteries lose a small amount of range over time but nothing that makes them unusable. Tesla still warrants them for 9 years and of the hundreds of EV owners I've met and talked to, none of them have had to replace batteries, including one guy who runs a fleet of Tesla taxis with hundreds of thousands of Kms on them. I can't say it never happens, and I imagine there have been some replaced under warranty, but this is not the norm. EV batteries are not like iPhone batteries. They have battery management systems which maximize their effectiveness and longevity.

It would be nice to have a ski that you can just drag out of eight months of storage and jump on, but the range would be a huge fun killer. When you have a day on the lake you want to get full use of it. A couple hours of riding wouldn't do it, for me at least. This might be a good use case for swappable batteries, although managing the batteries docked would be a hurdle. As Kyle says, awesome toy for the well to do. Maybe haul a pair of these around with your yacht for exploring the narrows.

Don’t most gas jet skis manage range upwards of 100 miles or more? The problem is that when people use a jet ski, they’re often going to a big lake for the day and multiple people use it. There’s no time to charge even if there were a place to charge it. Definitely looks like a lot of fun though.

The presence of a CCS port in a jet ski surprises me, as I imagine the typical use case to be accomplished with just level 1 or level 2 charging, and waterfront docks don't have CCS stations to plug into anyway. Maybe the idea is that people who don't have waterfront homes might store the jetski in a self-storage unit and want to quickly charge it on the way from the storage unit out to the water?

Power delivery looks super sluggish. It barely was able to get up on plane when you went "full beans" in sport mode

60mph PWC + 30 Mile Range = Sadness. Fine on small lakes with non-consecutive riders. The problem with jet-ski type things is they reward you for frequent full throttle inputs, turns, hammer the throttle, hole shots and again hammer the throttle. So unlike a Tesla where you drive at partial throttle PWC’s are driven harder more often. Now if you just want to cruise, you can do that at lower speed and get more range, but whatever your range is cut that in half since you gotta get back home. Then there is the matter of getting a high enough electrical service (100 to 200amps) and run the conductor to the dock area to make this work. I’ve never hated an idea more than complicating PWC’s with electricity.

it´s nice so little noice it makes 👍 they look like a old seadoo xp ❤ but they need to make them go more then 2 hours, thats no good when seadoo and yamaha comes with their models the fun starts it clear its not the same quality and handeling as a xp from the year 2000 for example next time show battery and the connections better, these have big batteries on them and we are playing with water. and it is importent to be able to get back on it no matter what.. these needs to be able to go under water and be upside down without any problems to be onnest they should have showed how it handled under water and upside down how about turning it around yourself, is the battery placed so that is posible

This seems fun for people who dont want to have fun, looks cheap and slow, idk why they keep saying is fast, i guess they never rode an actual PWC, my GP would smoke this thing out of the water any day.

Anytime I see an EV post on the internet, there are only ever 2 things haters complain about: range and fire. Range is no issue for Taigas jet skis and snowmobiles given their market, and fire in EVs is extremely rare already, then add the fact that Taigas vehicles are water and snow cooled, the only two issues haters have are non existent. If I could afford them, I would absolutely buy their snowmobile and jetski.

The Orca is powered like the kawasaki STX15F it has a 160HP does about 60Mph with about the same size hull they have 100+ mile range. The supercharged ultra 310x with 310HP will top 70 MPH and burn through 23 gallons of fuel in about 60 miles in full power mode. And the Rivian R1T can tow one no problem kzread.info/dash/bejne/o4uFxpKsqtu9erA.html
