Wow what an effort to give this animal a second chance to live it's life!! 🙏 Stuck there would have been a slow death!! 💔 Then taking him to a nice quiet place to recover was wonderful!! Thank you for caring about this animal in need!! ❤ Blessings to you!! 🙏

Thanks for your intelligent comment. 💯 a team was involved (with a plan) -Terra Mater Wildlife Shelter and this respected man, Manfred Zabinskas, who happens to be a wildlife rehabilitater and rescuer of some 20 years experience who runs his own shelter. He has a Bachelor’s degree and received an honourable Order of Australia medal for his service to animal welfare.

We have lost a few wombats during flooding on the small river on our farm. Is so sad. Also cars kill them on nearby road. The river area is a favorite spot for a lot of Aussie wildlife. I even had one chase me in the dark once😁. I check during floods half a dozen times a day in case I can save something. But that Man/ Team totally new how to handle it! I just learnt some skills. Those animals look cute but are tough as nails. Don't mess with them.

Today I learned that wombats have dangerous bums.

they should wear gloves. Thank you very much for taking the time to save a living creature.

I'm just a little confused as to why the Wombat needed to be "Rescued"? "Wombats are nocturnal and spend their nights foraging for food and digging new tunnels. On cold days they sometimes come out to warm up in the sun. Though wombats don't seek out water, they are known to swim occasionally. Normally to cross a creek or small stream."

Wombats are not strong swimmers though. There is always a story behind the story. This wombat definitely needed rescuing as this happened during flooding in my state of Australia in October 2022 with the water continually rising so the wombat would have drowned had they not rescued her. Not having this channel explain the context doesn’t help.

I think the water was too swift. Normally it could swim across the river, no problem, but in that flood it was too much of a watery expanse and it was swift. So he'd have had to wait it out there on that little island until enough water receded to where it was safe enough to cross. And that could take days.

I do not understand, why the wombat was in "panic" and trapped on the "island". It was in good shape, ready to bite. Wombats are able to swim. What made the guys think the animal needs help? All fake to generate a "sensational" youtube video with an "elderly man" as rescuer? And ... why the hell "time was of the essence"? Nothing threatened the wombat's life in that moment.
