I AM SURE SHE WAS ! ❤ I am having a panic attack even thinking one day ....NO, NO. NO ! NEVER! 🥺😭
I heard this on the radio today. For the first time in more years than I care to remember. And do you know what.....I sang - well, screeched - my 50-something heart out. I was suddenly a teenager again. I know it's an age-old cliché, but they don't make 'em like this anymore. This is sheer musical brilliance.

More to the point, THIS, along with 'One Night In Bangkok', 'Nobody's Side' & 'Heaven Help My Heart', plus virtually all the songs given to the Gemini Swedish duo for their 2 80s albums were to be ABBA's next songs if they hadn't split, and like with Gemini (though they are fine) we have to take them like this with these singers standing in well for our lovely A&A because no other version exists.

Watched a doco in early 2000's, they had interviewed some "studio tech" that had worked with ABBA "rumor has it" they have sung it & other Chess songs, only in a studio/informal/messing about way. The boys were playing around/drafting/writing Chess music in those last years of ABBA 81 -82. " I know him so well" is taken from ABBA's I Am An A and there are other cross overs of Chess music to ABBA songs. There was supposed to be another album after Visitors ( new material) 82 but didn't happen. Late 82 -83 it was full on for the guys to complete Chess & girls doing there own thing. I could imagine them doing it trying sounds/lyrics etc. Yes for sure would be something to hear for sure.

Beautiful! We are blessed to have such beautiful female singers throughout time. Elaine Page, Barbra Dickson, Celine Dion, Susan Boyle, Vera Lynn, Whitney Houston and so on.
Barbara Dickson is so amazing
Back in the day, being vulnerable in love, admitting one's mistakes, being honest about how you feel, and letting go without holding a grudge were all good things. Hence the poetic songs of the 80s and 90s.
I never heard of this show. I heard the Whitney & Cissy Houston’s cover and that brought me here. I’m thankful for this. I love this version and the purity of the original ❤

All these years, I too never knew Whitney and Cissy's version was a cover. This Barbara Dickson and Elaine Paige version was a huge hit in Britain, but not the United States. That might have influenced Whitney's decision to cover the song. Just a couple of years before this, Barbara Dickson did a cover of Stop! In the Name of Love by The Supremes. The Supremes version is a classic of course, but Barbara Dickson's version was pretty good and very contemporary sounding for the 80s.

@@Tes7000 I’m definitely going to have to look up that version of Stop! In the Name of Love! Thanks for the recommendation!
For everyone saying that this should have been performed by Agnetha and Frida, ABBA had indeed sang a previous version of this song with different lyrics during one of their live concerts in Australia. It was a silly song called ‘I Am an A’ and wasn’t intended to be recorded (you can watch it on KZread). Björn and Benny reused its chorus melody to create the masterpiece you’re now listening to. I suggest you checking out all the other songs from the musical ‘Chess’

I have always loved Barbara Dickson's exceptionally beautiful voice. ☘

Exactly. The timbre and the warmth and depth of that voice. The note on the first syllable of "younger" is a spot I could occupy for a long time.

Barbara was a folk singer! they have a richness, depth and exceptional timbre to their voices just like Judith Durham of the Seekers
Should of won an Oscar for her performance, let anyone the song. Her eye contact is off the scale!!!!
Pure class,twice.Simple.
Magic magic magic. Absolutely
Such an iconic song written by two pillars of modern music... And performed by two superb singers of the modern era...
I know this is a classic but I was looking at some recent Barbara Dickson KZread videos....and her music has so much more depth and interest these days. She is a proper musician, plays guitar and keyboards and is a fine songwriter. Her 'When Shadows Meet the Light' is superb. Its just a shame that for most people Barbara is only remembered for this song and its big hair/shoulder pads/lip gloss etc. She is so much more interesting. ...

Correct title is "Where Shadows Meet The Light"
I find this more beautiful now than I did back then. A stunning song .
Excellent, classy song. Still remains the best selling song by a female duo in the UK. Yet another number 1 for Benny and Bjorn
Chess is a Masterpiece from 2 of the Greatest Songwriters and Machines in Benny and Bjorn. These 2 have great lungs voices done so well as a Girl Duet to be part of the greatest decade of all time never to forget miss it so much oh hail the 80s
Absolutely timeless and peerless. One of the few duets I play regularly and still enjoy it as much as the first time I heard it.
ABBA writes the best music, they marry sad and happy in the same song and you feel both emotions strongly ...

Есть видео с девочками из АББА
Once again another wonderful Song recorded by two Wonderful Singers. And it Reminds me of the LOVE I Shared with my Husband, Sadly not with us anymore, but we had 40 years together and I wouldn't have Missed it for the World, Still LOVE YOU KEITH 💕💜💞🌹💯
Could’ve been the next big ABBA hit! Having said that, I do respect their decision to go on a “hiatus” for 40 years.

I agree, it would have been great to hear ABBA performing this song. An early version of the song was the Abba live-only song 'I am an A, I am a Bi'
Ballad at its best by Bjorn and Benny. I imagine Agnetha and Frida singing this.
Amazing. Nobody can beat this version.

Why do u say true? Some of us know how to be loyal and completely on someone's side. Just not every person in your life deserves that level of respect and loyalty, regardless of how long u may have known them.
Memories with my mom.. Singing this song together before she passed away.. Beautiful song to remember ❤️🙌🙏🏻👍
Always, the one most great and beautiful ballads
I didn't discover this emotional masterpiece till this year. Can't imagine anyone else singing it but these two. Their voices are perfect together.
I find the song so moving. It's like the feeling of absolute heartbreak set to music.
commenting the lyrics🥰 Nothing is so good it lasts eternally, Perfect situations must go wrong, But this has never yet prevented me, Wanting far too much, For far too long, Looking back, I could have played it differently, Won a few more moments, Who can tell, But it took time to understand the man, Now at least I know I know him well Wasn't it good? (Oh so good) Wasn't he fine? (Oh so fine) Isn't it madness, He can't be mine? But in the end He needs a little bit More than me, More security, He needs his fantasy and freedom, I know him so well No-one in your life is with you constantly, No-one is completely on your side, And though I'd move my world to be with him, Still the gap between us is too wide, Looking back, (Looking back) I could have played it differently, (I could have played it some other way), Learned about the man, Before I fell (I was just a little careless) But I was ever so much younger then, (Maybe, so much younger then) Now at least I know I know him well Wasn't it good? (Oh so good) Wasn't he fine? (Oh so fine) Isn't it madness, He won't be mine? Didn't I know? How it would go, If I knew from the start, Why am I falling apart? Wasn't it good Wasn't he fine? Isn't it madness, He won't be mine? But in the end, He needs a little bit More than me, More security, He needs his fantasy and freedom, I know him so well, It took time to understand him, I know him so well.
