La melodía fue compuesta por el músico huanuqueño Daniel Alomía Robles y el libreto escrito por el dramaturgo Julio de la Paz. La obra es una denuncia social que narra el conflicto entre mineros y empresarios en los andes, es Patrimonio Cultural del Perú porque su difusión es tema de evocación, inspiración y añoranza sobre la majestuosidad del Imperio de los Incas. When I was little, my mom used to play this song. It was her favorite. As I got older, she'd say she wanted this song played at her funeral. And it was. I can't hear it without crying and thinking of her. But I play it cause I know she's always with me.❤❤❤❤❤❤🥺

Hi, also 68, & also been listening to this song since I first bought the LP on vinyl decades ago. This was my favourite Simon & Garfunkel song at the time. It's haunting tune still gets to me, so much has happened in my life since then, but this song still moves me ❤

My amigo, Rafael Mendoza Ostos, is originally from San Cristobal, the capital of Tachira State, Venezuela. In the Andes Mountains of Venezuela, you'll see and hear pan flutes, but you'll also come across cuatros, maracas, harps, and mandolins. That string instrument you hear in "El Condor Pasa" is likely a mandolin.

About 3 years ago, my grandmother told me my grandfather wanted this song to be played at his funeral. I haven't heard this song since then. Today, my grandpa passed away and here I am, listening to this masterpiece again. My grandma is also currently spending her last days on earth. She's unconscious, waiting to join my grandfather wherever he is. Thank you for everything, grandpa. May you rest in peace. Grandma will be with you soon. I love you so much ❤️

Same here. I'm only early 50's, but my Mother exposed me to a lot of this type of music. When I was a child I never paid attention to the "chorus". I was just dusting off and enjoying playing some of my now vintage reel to reel 4-track tape albums, listening to this track from an S&G greatest hits album… got me all emotionally choked up, having not heard this one, one of my all-time favorite S&G songs from my early childhood. Had to find it here in YT to send a link of it to my mother to hear it again &, see this channels FANTASTIC video for such an amazingly well written and sung song! Just one of those very few songs that one can hear repeated several times, back to back & never get tired of hearing again.

Meant to state in pryer comment that, when I mentioned ‘not having heard this one’, I meant to conclude with having said, “in what feels like FOREVER”; as it really has been many years since last hearing this song… sparked immediate childhood feelings with new emotions too boot, especially with as one of you two in this comment thread had mentioned, a better understanding of its lyrical Philosophy, especially its chorus!

@@seanbatiz6620 Yeah, the "I'd rather be..." lines are good, and they caught my attention as a child. I mean, who wants to be a nail instead of a hammer? lol As much as 90% of the internet disgusts me and degrades humanity in general, the 10% that does stuff like keep old music and movies and literature alive, and spreads them to youngsters who otherwise would never encounter them. Well, that 10% more than justifies "tik tok" and "only fans" an other mind melting crap. Anyway, I'm chained to the ground. I'm doing my best not to give the world it's saddest sound. (addendum: I used to have a decent vinyl collection. Had to sell it to save it. I had nowhere safe to store it.)

@@gerardofabian7921 Lima es uno de los lugares más feos del mundo con bulla, contaminación, construcciones a medio terminar y que se ven horribles, sin espacios verdes y con gente agresiva, que no sabe que es respetar una regla (dejar cruzar al peatón, hacer una cola para dar unos ejemplos). Viví allí 4 años, me alegro de haberme ido y de estar de nuevo en Europa, ahora en Portugal. La gente es tan amable y educada aquí, hay organización. Espero no ir nunca más al Perú.

This version is NOT their original LP version. The verses are all mixed up. Terrible. I think whomever pieced this together wanted it to fit the video they made and they RUINED it. And so many are looking at a bad mixed up version.

My daughter and I listened to this song as we were driving through the beautiful Arches National Park in Moab Utah last November...it was my first time there (I live in NY)...the combination of the stunning scenery and this beautiful song brought me to tears....a memory I will never forget.

Lo primero que metí en mi equipaje antes de mudarme a California fueron mis ejemplares de Condorito y en cada viaje a Perú me compro unos cuantos más. Sabemos que el cóndor no se encuentra sólo en el Perú; así como el águila que se encuentra en todo el territorio norteamericano y los mexicanos la tienen en el escudo de su bandera. En el Cañón del Colca en Arequipa, Perú, se puede ver a los cóndores en todo su esplendor; hay muchos videos de esa locación. Saludos hermano chileno. ❤

Hi, also 68, & also been listening to this song since I first bought the LP on vinyl decades ago. This was my favourite Simon & Garfunkel song at the time. It's haunting tune still gets to me, so much has happened in my life since then, but this song still moves me ❤

My amigo, Rafael Mendoza Ostos, is originally from San Cristobal, the capital of Tachira State, Venezuela. In the Andes Mountains of Venezuela, you'll see and hear pan flutes, but you'll also come across cuatros, maracas, harps, and mandolins. That string instrument you hear in "El Condor Pasa" is likely a mandolin.

Today, my grandpa passed away and here I am, listening to this masterpiece again. My grandma is also currently spending her last days on earth. Same here. I'm only early 50's, but my Mother exposed me to a lot of this type of music. When I was a child I never paid attention to the "chorus". I was just dusting off and enjoying playing some of my now vintage reel to reel 4-track tape albums, listening to this track from an S&G greatest hits album… got me all emotionally choked up, having not heard this one, one of my all-time favorite S&G songs from my early childhood. Had to find it here in YT to send a link of it to my mother to hear it again &, see this channels FANTASTIC video for such an amazingly well written and sung song! Just one of those very few songs that one can hear repeated several times, back to back & never get tired of hearing again.

Meant to state in pryer comment that, when I mentioned ‘not having heard this one’, I meant to conclude with having said, “in what feels like FOREVER”; as it really has been many years since last hearing this song… sparked immediate childhood feelings with new emotions too boot, especially with as one of you two in this comment thread had mentioned, a better understanding of its lyrical Philosophy, especially its chorus!

@@seanbatiz6620 Yeah, the "I'd rather be..." lines are good, and they caught my attention as a child. I mean, who wants to be a nail instead of a hammer? lol As much as 90% of the internet disgusts me and degrades humanity in general, the 10% that does stuff like keep old music and movies and literature alive, and spreads them to youngsters who otherwise would never encounter them. Well, that 10% more than justifies "tik tok" and "only fans" an other mind melting crap. Anyway, I'm chained to the ground. I'm doing my best not to give the world it's saddest sound. (addendum: I used to have a decent vinyl collection. Had to sell it to save it. I had nowhere safe to store it.)

@@gerardofabian7921 Lima es uno de los lugares más feos del mundo con bulla, contaminación, construcciones a medio terminar y que se ven horribles, sin espacios verdes y con gente agresiva, que no sabe que es respetar una regla (dejar cruzar al peatón, hacer una cola para dar unos ejemplos). Viví allí 4 años, me alegro de haberme ido y de estar de nuevo en Europa, ahora en Portugal. La gente es tan amable y educada aquí, hay organización. Espero no ir nunca más al Perú.

This version is NOT their original LP version. The verses are all mixed up. Terrible. I think whomever pieced this together wanted it to fit the video they made and they RUINED it. And so many are looking at a bad mixed up version.

My daughter and I listened to this song as we were driving through the beautiful Arches National Park in Moab Utah last November...it was my first time there (I live in NY)...the combination of the stunning scenery and this beautiful song brought me to tears....a memory I will never forget.

très vrai 🙏 mais je pense que surtout dans ces cas ou l’air original vient d’un groupe culturel qui est souvent ignoré en faveur de la culture américaine, il est important de se souvenir que leur version n’est pas l’originale, mais plutôt une très belle interprétation 😌

@@aristotelesaristo5193 Él se refiere a la melodía El Cóndor Pasa, no al cóndor mismo. Soy hincha número uno de Condorito. Lo primero que metí en mi equipaje antes de mudarme a California fueron mis ejemplares de Condorito y en cada viaje a Perú me compro unos cuantos más. Sabemos que el cóndor no se encuentra sólo en el Perú; así como el águila que se encuentra en todo el territorio norteamericano y los mexicanos la tienen en el escudo de su bandera. En el Cañón del Colca en Arequipa, Perú, se puede ver a los cóndores en todo su esplendor; hay muchos videos de esa locación. Saludos hermano chileno. ❤
