I was there working, it seemed like a lifetime.Punishment was excessive clearly wasn't intentional, to say the least. The game lasted 3 hours due to all the reviews fouls called. 😠😡 @WomanHooping

Doesn't matter if it "looks" accidental. If the official believes it was intentional (possibly based on actions or language used earlier in the game, or possibly based only on the immediate situation), she will make the call-& be supported.

Arike didn't try to avoid the ref, even stepped to ref. Then stepped into the ref. Good call. I think if Arike immediately said sorry would've not been called. But she did it and then never even said sorry.

I have just been convinced that not going to these WNBA games has been a wise decision. Cannot imagine sitting through a boring game and a 10 minute officials review. Absurd.

Blatant fouls mean nothing to some players or teams. I think the ejection was correct.

The crime is not how absurd the technical was, it was that it took almost the length of a qtr for them to determine the travesty. Refs these days swear that ppl left home to come aee them officiate

The ball handler threw a hard right shoulder into the defender. Clear as a bell. Should have been a charging foul.

Absolutely, it was a charge. I'm surprised the commentators didn't say anything about the blatant elbow she threw while running over the defender. The female commentator tried pretending it was incidental contact with the ref. It was so obvious and yet it took almost 10 minutes to announce the call. I like some NCAA women's college basketball, UConn particularly. I don't really care for the wnba. This is truly the first video I've seen of the wnba all season. In my opinion, women's college basketball is a much better game to watch.

Unfortunately the defender was not even close to being in a set defensive position. She moved deliberately to her right to ensure the contact. Not a charge according to the rules. Sorry.

@rd9067 I'm not disputing whether the defender was in a set position. What I'm saying is the offensive player led with an aggressive forearm which is clearly illegal. Therefore, I still maintain it was a charge, but no foul was called on her for that infraction until she decided to assault the ref by throwing her shoulder into her. I respect your opinion. I just saw it differently.

How do you get away with just walking off the court? Never witnessed that before. I see it both ways with Arika. I think Arika now knows what to do if in that situation again.

seriously be honest the player threw her shoulder into the ref. the announcer is pathetic saying the ref walked into the player. the ref that got bumped was willing to let it go but the other refs were like oh hell no. then the player gives the who me look that all criminals give police when they are caught.

Number 24 does not get an academy award nomination for that performance.

The foul was called and no need to get in the refs face or even walk that way. The ref is doing her job walking towards the spot of the foul and the shoulder was lowered into the ref so it got her off balance a bit. Good call. Camera doesn't lie

Arike's hit on the smaller defender was premeditated. The defender was clearly hurt.

I can't think of a worse punishment than having to watch the WNBA.

It could have gone either way! She should have attempted to avoid the ref BUT the ref also didn't make any attempt to avoid the contact. It looked as if she leaned the shoulder back and brought it forward also.

Bad call to escort her off like she intentionally did something..tht was not her fault the ref decided to walk in her space seeing the momentum after the foul 😮

If this is how long a review takes in the WNBA, Caitlin Clark or not, I wont be watching any games in the WNBA.

What’s the basketball player did was obvious in the replay. She threw her left shoulder into the ref on purpose. Be honest with yourself and rewatch the video. This is the schoolyard stunt it is meant to be subtle so as not to get the attention of a teacher. You could actually see her throw her shoulder into the Referee.

The ref walked into a player that was barreling down the court, that’s a setup. But something cuda happened earlier in the game but from this clip, Arike got setup

The city of Chicago just keeps getting a bad reputation. It must be something in the water lol

Imagine if this was a playoff game . . . or specifically, if the game was closer? It would be very hard for them to eject Arike, if the Wings weren't up by 9 with less than a minute to go. If this were a 3 point game, she may have not received anything.

The dallas player not only shoulder bumped the ref but remained in her path for several frames.

This is ridiculous the ref should be near the side line and they them self stay out out the way of play. It should be casual or incidental. She got fouled was still in her motion and ref got in the way. This is why I don't watch any sports anymore. They can take it off the air won't matter to me.

I'm just an old guy from Oklahoma that enjoys BB. I like the contact. I don't want the WNBA to be like the NBA. The way the WNBA is going to grow is by not being like the NBA. They are losing fans by the millions because of the no defense, calls and the stars get away with everything. Just be aggressive but don't carry the ball, don't run zones and play hard ball. Fouls will come but if your making putting your body out their for a play, the fans will be okay with it. Push the ball up, run the play and crash the boards. Old school ball. No fights. Play every game like it's the NCAA womens finals. The fans leaving the NBA will be looking for a place to land, like me. So, make the game physical but with respect.
