Short Rack Banks has been around for loooong time. This match is from the Derby City Classic, which is started in 1999. But they were playing short rack banks long before that. In years before, the common banks game would be full-rack (15 balls). Billy has won the Derby City Banks title before. Efren’s best finish was runner up (twice).

He has the perfect voice and demeanor AND knowledge of the rolls. It is not merely knowledge of the game, he has deep knowledge of the ball rolls too and elucidates it very well. Instead of a radio disc jokey or a play by play baseball announcer, he has a much more even tone. I can see the channel name and logo. Pool loving birds sitting on a perch, discussing the game. Almost any bird... just not a vulture.

They are playing ‘short rack’ bank Pool. So they rack just like in 9ball but it’s a different game for sure. They could use any 9 balls but 1-9 is neater

Nah, Reyes continues to get a beating. As an American SVB is the G.O.A.T. Billy Thorpe is next.. Reyes must be between top 30-50.. Even Reyes can't surpass the accomplishments of Shane Van Boening and Billy Thorpe.. These two are the legends of pool. There will be a Boening and Thorpe cup soon.... Filipinos sucks in the world of pool. Great players can only be found on American soil.

GEEZ, how does anyone beat Thorpe when he's playing like that in those first two games? A pro master class, there. Billy's later four railer was a thing of beauty. "He's body Englished that ball straight into the hole". How come that virtually never works for me, not in ANY sport? :-) That two holding up on Efren in the corner, 4th game, really surprised me. They were playing tight for new cloth, that's for sure. Jaw those balls much at all and they just stand proud. At 2-0 I said to my wife that even Efren was probably cooked, unless he really came alive and Billy went cold...should have known better. To the hill-hill point, anyway. Thanks for the commentary, Scott, and yeah, Rail birds does a great job for a relatively shoestring operation, especially. I gave you the like, and I don't hand those out like candy. Fun match, including the safety work. Lengthen with a high cue ball? Now that is NOT what I would expect. I would expect the opposite. I'm going to have to work that one out, from a physics standpoint.

I've never seen this format before. I used to play alot in my youth but this is neat. I figure it gets boring and easy being a pro, this being invented to challange good players. I put lots of hours in pool halls, i kiss it. Efren still playing is amazing, i remember him when he had dark hair

My favorite game is bank shot only. The rules are bank shot the ball you hitting or the cue ball must hit 2 rails. And call your shot. This will make you a better player

Efren is a wise man he knows the bigger price.

Listen my aunt had a bar back in the late 80’s and old dudes that played or hustled pool for a living did this exact same thing let young guys build a nice deficit and build their confidence and at the very end start picking them apart and come back and win every time I asked the old dude what happens if they don’t miss one time when the deficit is at its highest he said after the break and how the balls land I can pin point what shots he will most likely miss this is what he said 🤷🏾‍♂️

It’s strange on how he racked and broke... need to learn the rules to this style, I’m ready to play.

Combos and caroms are not legal in bank pool (even if you call it)

Diamond tables are the most unpredictable I've ever played. 1 rail always plays differently than the others.

Commentator sound like the guy in the US. MASTERS golf think jim nance is his name but not hundrd sure ❤

Oof, I'd suck at this game. The speed is SO important, bcz obviously it affects the ball's trajectory. Why I think they are hitting kinda hard, bcz speed consistency is key to knowing where it'll go.

I’ve been trying for years to understand different pool games and this just confuses me even more. I don’t get it at all. Some of the shots they make seem to make no sense

Notably easier now than say, 40 years ago, but yeah, I still root for the old guy. My favorite overall. So much enjoyment from watching him over the years, and this was no exception. He's still a serious threat to anyone, at any time, in any game, especially in one pocket, where his knowledge really compensates for his SLIGHTLY reduced ability due to aging. There, he is still a supreme threat, even for the tournament win. And I still see guys like, Scott, JJ, Varner, etc. awed at his not infrequent display of genius, even now.
