    @@EnsignRedshirtRicky People really have no sense of scale. If a billion Earths have around ten billion people, you're already at 10 quintillion. And the universe is a lot bigger than just that and the Marvel universe is pretty populated with seemingly thousands of settled planets in any given galaxy. A single timeline you would probably look at 100 sextillion lives lost at least. If you wipe out a billion of that, what is that - 100 dectillion lives? But wait, ther's more! They're not just destroying universes, but erasing timelines, so everyone that has ever lived will be gone as well, and everyone that ever will live in that timeline, so you can pretty much just multiply that number again by thousands or millions of times depending on how long civilization and species last in that universe if you only count the past, or stretch it out to something even more ludicrous if you also count the lives that would have been part of the timeline before you cut off its future. All gone with the gravity of a typical twice per episode mandated Marvel show action scene.

    That is the most racist thing I've ever seen. Do you even realize that hundreds of ducks were forced to quack simultaneously in rhythm used on the slave boats during the North Atlantic Slave Trade? The great melinated people of the world still feel the trauma passed through generations of the ducks on the boats quacking in order to force the slaves to time their rowing properly. That is so disgusting that you would bring that trauma back just for a silly joke.

You could even have Owen Wilson ask if Brad was going to be okay when he sees Brad drooling & practically catatonic & Loki just responds with a sly little smile and a "he'll be fine."

  • @robonator2945

    @robonator2945

    5 ай бұрын

    yeah, no. We're shown that branches do accumulate, the reason it's called "infinity" is because they accumulate *_from_* other branches, so left unchecked it would grow at an infinitely increasing rate. Even in Season 1 of Loki this is how it was shown to work, hence the reason the TVA even exist. We're shown how it works and it's been more or less consistent, (I can't recall any time it's been violated at least, granted I've been skipping a lot of the irrelevant MCU shit it's been churning out lately) so this is one complaint that just feels like people aren't paying attention. Don't get me wrong, these shows have a lot of legitimate flaws, but this 'well ackcshully infinity ...' is at-best pedantry over the difference between infinite growth and infinitely increasing growth and at-worst people legitimately not understanding the difference between those two things. It reminds me of some of the complaints Mauler was making about the Expanse of "well why didn't they just do X?" when "X" would have taken another 6 months because space is fucking big and for some reason that just never crossed any of their minds. Modern MCU content has *_a lot_* of flaws, so I really don't see the need to fabricate more because "things that grow exponentially will begin to grow infinitely fast and grow infinitely large" is simplified to "there will be infinite universes" and people don't bother to realize "oh hey, given we've been shown how universes split off and grow, maybe when they say infinite they're simplifying because explaining that things that grow exponentially will begin to grow infinitely fast and grow infintitely large is unnecessary and a waste of time since we've already been shown how universes split off and grow!" Again, when there are so many legitimate flaws I just flat out don't see the need to fabricate nonsense. At worst it means knowingly bullshitting for absolutely no reason and at best it means you're paying so little attention that you're getting basic facts about the universe wrong, which makes you part of the problem when it comes to why so much modern content is shit; no-one is paying attention.

    I think it's odd that Loki reacted the way he did when Breaking Brad himself mentioned his mother. At first, It made sense that Loki would be upset about his mother's passing, but then I realized that this Loki wasn't even there when his mom died. This Loki left after Avengers and saw his mom dying through the MCU highlight reel from season 1. It makes sense he would be upset when she is mentioned, but making it seem like Brad touched a nerve by reawakening a painful memory doesn't. Plus the TVA exists out of time or whatever so Loki could go to a time where she's alive, what does death on the timeline even mean to him anymore.

    You know what Marvel thing has a great and horrifying torture scene? Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., if you can believe it. The best antagonist of that series has one of the team gagged and restrained to a chair. They dose her up with an anesthetic so she can't feel anything yet, as they shove rods into her fingers under her nails. She's watching this happen, fully aware of how bad that's gonna be. Then, to top it all off, they have a gun rigged to the door into the room, knowing that someone will be coming to rescue her. She has to sit there, the pain getting worse and worse, and any minute, he's gonna open that door and get shot in the head. THAT is an effective way to portray torture, not this "I'm gonna do something bad to you," these vague threats and shit that only scares the person. It doesn't actually hurt them in any way. This is childish bullshit, nothing more.

    I had completely forgotten that scene until you mentioned it. I even remember the logic of the method. They said that S.H.I.E.L.D. agents are trained to ensure high amounts of pain, but that by allowing the anesthesia to slowly wear off, they start with a small amount that builds over time, which would be harder to power through than quick and sudden pain.

Loki himself seemed to be like "This is stupid, but this is what Thanos wants." He wasn't doing it because he got angry at Thor. In hindsight, the entire alien thing is just kinda dumb because they didn't seem to have much of a plan at all.

    Loki put himself as in an alliance with Thanos because Loki was jealous of Thor getting to rule Asgard. (or at least this Loki) he says it in the Pie room with Mobius. Loki also has knowledge that had he not been taken his mother was murdered by allies also allied with Thanos, and Loki himself was killed by Thanos. Point being, Loki joined Thanos for a chance to prove he was better than Thor That he can rule as a better king (by taking free will?) Thor tells him to stop by the end of Avengers and Loki replied "It's to late." I don't think the MCU version of Loki was a Bad guy, he just thought of himself as less than, I didn't have any friends in asgard and he treated Humans the same way Asgardians treated him.

    I like the part where Sylvie went "is this the best you lot could do?" when she is the one who bailed on even trying to keep stuff going. She killed Kang and then decided to let stuff fall where they might, but still complain about the people trying to get things in order and how the organisation is corrupt. Woman, you were handed the leadership position and you tossed it away. You don't get to complain about how the organisation is corrupt when you are actively running away from fixing it.

    This show is pure concentrated Contradiception. Tripping over itself with plot holes that eat the foundation of not only the story in the show, but all of the MCU. If you think anything makes sense, you have been confused by plot holes that are inside other plot holes, that are claimed to explain the original plot holes, without managing to actually do that. I am surprised this show did not cause heads to explode as they covered it. The wrap-up of the season is going to be one for the ages if they actually **try** to track all the McMuffin plot points that are just moved on from under the pretense they were actually concluded.

    5:10 in defence, Fringy, the States are *supposed* to be their own self contained, independent Nations. (At least as they were intended to be under the Founders view of the United States) The United States is a Republic of numerous Nation States, much as The European Union is an alliance of European States. Unfortunately, many people have been lead to believe that each of the United States are little more than 'districts" or 'provinces" of a 'country" called 'the United States".. this Reformation came about after the war between the Confederate States and the Federal takeover of the United States, and has been collectively reinforced by the Federal Government ever since. (But that's a tangent for another time..) So technically, Marvel have it correct by putting the City name and then the State name, rather than the city name and then 'The United States".. It would be like putting 'Berlin, European Union", or 'Sidney, British Commonwealth".. So really the flaw is saying ‘London, UK” instead of ‘London, England”. That and there many of the United States share Names of cities and towns, so just saying 'city name, United States" could mean one of a number of cities in a number of States. ^.-.^ Let's just be thankful they dinae go crazy with the location text. 'Broxton, Oklahoma, United States, North America, Earth, Sol system, Milky Way Galaxy, Universe #2754732..." ^.-.^

    I can summarize Loki Season 1. Episode 1 “Glorious Purpose” In the year 2012 in a branching timeline, Loki picks up the Tesseract and portals himself to the Gobi Desert. Because he did this, a group of extra dimensional police called the Time Variance Authority arrest him and take him to their headquarters. There, Loki learns that there used to be multiple timelines that “fought” each other but now there is only one timeline, created by mysterious beings who run the TVA called the ‘Time Keepers”. Any branches are destroyed. If you don’t follow the rules, you get “Pruned” which means you get zapped with a stick that makes you ominously disappear. Loki is put into the charge of a friendly agent named Mobius. At first, Loki tries to escape but after he fails, he gives in and decides to work with the TVA…biding his time to escape later. Loki is told that an alternate version of him - a variant - is causing trouble. This variant is a woman named Sylvie. Episode 2 “The Variant” Loki helps the TVA track down Sylvie. They discover that she has been hiding in apocalyptic events throughout time, because those events mask her presence. So they track her down at one such event - but she evades them, and at the last second, Loki joins her and walks through her portal. Episode 3 “Lamentis” Loki & Sylvie emerge on a planet called Lamentis in the year 2077. This will be the site of a historical disaster - the planet itself is about to be destroyed. There’s one transport trying to leave the planet - but its destiny is to fail. And Sylvie’s TemPad - her travel device - is broken. They’re stranded there. So Loki and Sylvie resolve to save the ship that’s destined to fail and get off of Lamentis before it’s destroyed. As they travel, they warm up to each other and she tells him just how much is wrong with the TVA. But at the last second, they fail. They’re still stranded and the end is near… Episode 4 “The Nexus Event” Loki and Sylvie are about to die but the TVA finds them at the last second for mysterious reasons. They are taken back to the TVA and interrogated. Loki tries to convince Mobius that the TVA is evil. It’s revealed that Loki and Sylvie have feelings for each other, and the two of them falling in love created such a large change in time that the TVA were able to gind them on Lamentis. Conflict ensues and Mobius gets Pruned. Loki and Sylvie manage to break out and find the hall of the Time Keepers themselves. Sylvie kills the lead Time Keeper - only to discover the Time Keepers are all mindless robots being remote controlled by someone mysterious. Then Loki gets pruned. Sylvie is about to get arrested but she prunes herself before they can get to her. Episode 5 “Journey into Mystery” It’s revealed that when you get pruned, you are not destroyed but sent to a place called “The Void” at the end of the Timeline. The Void looks like a wasteland on Earth full of junk from across time. Verious survivors live there underground. It’s revealed there’s a huge Cloud monster named Allioth and if it touches you, you cease to exist. So it’s kind of like a vacuum cleaner, erasing all Pruned things that end up in the Void. Mobius, at this point, is fully against the TVA and resolves to go back and reform it - which he can do because he had his TemPad when he was pruned - and he still has it. Loki & Sylvie meanwhile (with the help of an older Loki played by Richard E Grant) manage to put Allioth to sleep with their magical powers and they discover that Allioth itself is a doorway to another dimension - a dimension where the person who really runs the TVA lives… Episode 6 “For All Time. Always.” Loki & Sylvie go through Allioth and find themselves in a place called “The Citadel.” The Citadel is a floating castle surrounded by a circular blue line - the Timeline. At the Citadel, they meet a creepy man in purple known only as “He Who Remains.” He Who Remains explains that he was once a scientist in the 31st century. He discovered variants of himself from other timelines - but some of them were evil and wanted to conquer the Multiverse. Because of how smart and advanced they all were, their carnage was unimaginable. So He Who Remains found a way to destroy them all. He discovered a creature born from all of the tears of reality - Allioth - and used Allioth to destroy all of the other versions of himself. Then, he built the TVA - for the purpose of preserving the Timeline that lead to him - and destroying any branching timelines that could lead to any alternative versions of himself. He Who Remains tells Loki and Sylvie that if they let the Timeline branch again, they’ll have to contend with all of his evil variants. Sylvie is willing to take that chance. Loki and Sylvie disagree about what to do - but she throws him through a portal back to the TVA and kills He Who Remains. The Timeline immediately begins branching. The season ends with Loki running through the TVA trying to warn them about He Who Remains and his variants - but it’s revealed he’s in some alternate version of the TVA where no one recognizes him…

    6:11 Even just this exchange should have been a Loki character moment. He grew up among the hard-drinking Asgardians, he’s a millennia-old Frost Giant, and a master illusionist (pretty easy to go shot-for-shot when you can sculpt reality to just make it look that way while you dump the shot). He should ALWAYS be at least tempted to use alcohol as a means to gather information when the opportunity arises. And if a NORSE GOD rejects an offered drink, my first instinct would be either he doesn’t trust me for some reason to the point where he won’t even accept offered food and drink, or that the entire universe is so boned that he thinks it warrants being uncharacteristically so sober.

Now she's here I want her to die and I hate everything. They sure kept her characterisation consistent from season 1. Whenever she's on screen all I can think of is that Freyr quote. @@spudg8558 I'm a fan of the actors, and the Ideas in the show. The way it was executed could use work. They left to much unexplained. It's okay to like the show for what it is, I don't think it functions as part of the MCU, canonically in endgame when they go back in time It was explained they go to another "place"/ "Universe". 3 timelines. 1. The Main MCU 2. The Loki Timeline (he Escapes) 3. The unseen timeline (he doesn't escape, but two sets of avengers fought at the batter of new york. "It was suppose to happen") Like i said that was the way it was explained, lets see if they stick to the new rules they set. from what i can understand the scared "timeline" is just a circle of events that have Kangs Birth through Kangs death, but ending with someone finding Kang and starting the circle over again. After Kangs death, the Loom automatically prunes the left overs (this last two episodes, you can see it when Loki looks out the window. The loom has two arms that spin.) as for what the void is, or how loki is jumping through time It makes no sense because they didn't explain it, but I have theories. As for it being part of the connected universe, it can't be. "He who remains" would never let Thanos complete the snap, there is no guarantee that random 50% wouldn't lead to his existence being messed up, and if it is thats just bad story telling.
