Why are “people” still insisting that cutting the education budget is a good idea?

Because no matter how much money is poured into the school system the students coming out at the end are uneducated and confused.

How many assistant superintendents do they have?

Whatever they decide, the indoctrination will continue and become even more intense. And more kids will be pulled out. And revenue will shrink further.

I find it crazy that with home prices and corresponding taxes basically doubling in 3 years that ESD can't find the money to pay for basics. And this is after they passed a 600 million dollar levy on new schools and a 100 million dollar levy on tech. I also pin the blame on Edmonds Major, David Rosen for not coming up with any plans to generate revenue for the district the way other cities do. Instead, he's out to spend millions renovating the waterfront parks to ensure the rich people in the bowl of edmonds continue to see their home equity increase.

Cut the funding for the kids so someone can get a pay raise

We do not believe the edmonds school district staff and superintendent have provided the school board members enough alternatives on what other programs or staff might have be cut or eliminated in the process. We believe the district needs to be efficient with our tax dollars and should investigate many different alternatives for the people to determine for themselves what are the best cuts to make to the budget or programs and staff are dismissed. We encourage the school board directors to exercise their authority over the staff of the district and not let them dictate to you what decisions will be made about our district. We also support all of these people and organizations who expect their voice to be heard by the school board. We demand that other less important departments or positions be cut first like DEI (diversity equity and inclusion), SEL (social emotional learning) and i-ready. We believe that these programs and positions in the district are less important to the well being and success in and beyond school. These are only a couple of examples of alternative departments, programs, or positions that could be cut or eliminated to help balance the budget. The people will not only accept one option in cutting the budget, we should be shown many different alternatives before anything gets cut.

Gee if they just educated the students and not waste money on all the BS mandated.

They should sell the buildings and do remote schooling with the best teachers.

Stop wasting money on teaching kids on how to change their gender

Most of the cuts are in sports, maintenance, arts, supplies, and student activities. 😂

@@kevinnosx9 nah. The survey was public and specifically calls out facility maintenance, sports, music, arts, student supplies. Most of the stuff you speak off is state funded. This is specifically about the property tax funds.

ESD sent out a budget out to tax payers so they could select what to cut. All of the health stuff is mandated by the state and cannot be touched, plus the deficit was massive so even if you cut that, it was peanuts compared to the budget hole. ESD is simply bad at finances across the board and seems to overpay on basics like bus transportation. Somebody is getting rich here and it isn't teachers.

Perhaps focusing on reading, writing and arithmetic would fair better. Unwanted CRT and other delusional brainwashing is something high IQ parents will not tolerate.

I'm fine cutting all sports. But the sport organizations and parents have to start them young to ensure their multi billion dollar business and stadiums carry on

Unfortunately the federal government doesn't pay for schools. So the Ukrainian money will just be used for another war, not schools
