    meh. I think many people figured that about Eddie. Do what you love, you are all that matters. Being a bit socially accepted makes life easier at times, but being yourself is often way more rewarding. Dare to have personality.

    @@joshuawarrenyeah3705 What would happen to someone who did that 50-100 years ago in any western country(not to even mention most eastern, middle eastern or African nations)they would be beaten, perhaps even killed by local populous,suffering criminal persecution even,perhaps psychiatric treatment(and I don't mean regular psychotherapy,back then I'm referring to lobotomy and things like electro-shock therapy).Societal norms now in western countries are more accepting of who people are. I'd consider it to be relatively brave.

He was the *FIRST!* The first A-lister (...B-lister) who crossdressed on stage as an unrelated thing, and broke a lance for tolerance of harmless kookery everywhere. You had to have insane bravery to get on stage like that. Reduced chances at gigs, the crossdressing overshadowing your actual material, verbal abuse and a non-zero chance of some conservative throwing a brick at your head. At the time the DSM and a zealous psychiatrist could technically have gotten him sectioned. As a colonel of the Joshua forces, I am taking away your Joshua privileges. [strips rank insignia] ...and busting you down to Josh 1st class! You summer child.

    Yes, I just love that. So many years I have in certain situations thought: Why women or men, we are just human. One might feel confused for a moment to see a man with make up, but then one just sees this likable and sincere person. Actually, when the camera shows him looking straight at you, you feel almost as if you were in the room with him.

    So nice to see two of my favorite comedians, not only knowing each other but having a little bit off history together. Makes me respect Eddie Izzard even more; he recognized the talent and qualities in Trevor Noah - and decided to help him, lift him. That is what we need - to see the qualities in each other, and help bring them out and about.

    @@schneetier8581 Not impossible. And considering that Eddies life surely wasn't easy it might have something to do with it. Some people grow with problems others shrivel. Eddie most likely grew. A lot. On the other hand - there's a ton of reasons why some people run marathons and others devolve into couch potatoes...

    Eddie Izzard is in my opinion one of the greatest comedian out there. Who cares about the way he dresses (I love the self description “executive transvestite”)? He is a great human being and his political message has been consistent for years. I would vote for Eddie any time I had a chance.

    I absolutely love his look. He makes (almost) anyone look beyond the make-up, clothes, etc. And listen to the content. And Eddie can *really* make you think of things you've never considered.

    Eddie is an exceptional human being. He is currently (Jan2021) running 31 marathons in 31 days and then after each marathon he does a 1 hour standup performance. this is ALL for charity. It's called a Run for Hope, Make Humanity Great Again. You can see this on his youtube channel everyday as he runs and does interviews via Zoom. Like I said he's incredible. I'd love to have a coffee with him.

    Completely loved Eddie's work for over 20 years, been to several shows & met him at a screening of "The Cat's Meow" (in which he portrayed Charlie Chaplin wonderfully). Saw him perform in Shanghai a couple of years ago, and while he didn't perform in Mandarin(!), he had *clearly* done his homework or done an incredible job of observation, because he was able to throw in references to life in China that expats only really get after several years here. Beautiful mind, incredible person. Good luck in politics, Eddie.

    @@flowerpink724 While Sara Beth was probably referring to Eddie Izzard's transgenderism (or, "male lesbianism", as Eddie calls it, since Eddie is not gay), rarmonkey, whom is probably being facetious, or perhaps sharing a similar point of view of many fans of Eddie Izzard (that is, his personal tendencies in relationships seem to be unrelated to his ability as a comedian) was jokingly implying you were referring to his Englishness when implying Eddie Izzard is among those from "all walks of life", as in, to say he is abnormal (which would be correct, but most fans were slowly introduced to how he is now so they had time to adjust while never focusing on it because he is a talented comedian, ableit, with a bit too much jam)

    Awww, I love Eddie Izzard so much!! He is such a legend!! 20 years later and Dress to Kill is still one of my favorite comedy shows. I'm so glad I was able to see him live when he did Force Majeure. His open view of people and the world, plus his love of learning languages, is what helped motivate me to study and work abroad. It's funny because Trevor Noah seems to have that same type of open world insight in his comedy and stories as well. Seeing these two together just made my day. If you're unfamiliar with Eddie Izzard, I highly suggest watching the "Death Star Canteen" bit or "Cake or Death"... but let's be honest, all of his work is brilliant. Enjoy!!

    Ever since I saw Eddie do his HBO special when I was a teenager, been a huge fan. Definitely helped open my eyes about trans people. Made a big difference in my life and many others. Great guy!

    IMO Trevor Noah is the best interviewer. None of the current late night show hosts can match his level comedy + intellectualism. Trevor can think on his feet. This is why he his between the scenes segments are so popular. He has the ability to say, "Ask me anything", and then answer it to a high level of satisfaction.

    You can see Colbert panic when something unexpected happens, which always surprises me and not necessarily in a good way. I don’t hate the guy or anything, it just makes my head tilt puppydog style. Trevor, on the other hand, actively leans into that. Like the between the scenes thing with Anna Kendrick. 🙂

    I love Eddie Izzard, I saw him in San Francisco back in 2005. I would love to see him again now I’m 35 instead of 21. He’s so far beyond just a comedian. He thinks so far outside the box to solve problems that take others years to get to that level.

    I remember watching Eddie back in the 90's when transgender wasn't really excepted by people in those days but everyone loved him!! I've always loved him and his comedy, he could always keep me laughing. It's really nice to see him still around and entertaining everyone. I think he's a really great person!! 👍👍

    I'm only four minutes in. Eddie Izzard Live at the Sunset Bowl is diamond entertainment. Trevor is good stuff. This interview can't get much better, and it's just the beginning. They've already touched HIIT, marathon addiction, polyglot comedy, and how they first met. IT'S AT THE FOUR-MINUTE MARK!!! COME THE HELL ON, FELLAS. Shit. It got better.

    I remember watching his shows late night as a kid and he wore makeup and a extravagant more looking suit than the one he has on in this interview. At the time I found him intriguing and quite handsome with the lipstick, and seeing him now I love how well spoken and grounded he is.

    In past articles Izzard has described himself as a transgender guy (with both male and female genes), so I think Trevor’s description was accurate and either researched or he knew based on their past relationship. You can tell the amount of respect he has for Eddie.

    Mondo O No I don’t think he has ever claimed to have Klinefelter syndrome, but that there is a genetic reason for him being male and yet also female. Most people with XXY chromosomes aren’t transgender, and identify as male.

    Eddie is transgender, and Eddie is a man, but the term "transgender man" sounds inaccurate. I feel like he should get his terminology in shape for the election campaign, since the questions are inevitable. He would perhaps become the most visible non-binary trans person in the world, so I have selfish personal motives. 😉
