    This is funny!!! they talk like its going to be ACDC onstage? incase anything will go wrong, we can switch to another laptop! he's got a big looper!! he has 1000 units! incase this goes wrong? why do they keep talking about things going wrong??? how many channels goes a damn acoustic player need??? does he have 500 mics on stand-by incase they cut out? and the mention of dealing with a challenge!! yeah!! we all focus on one guy?????? its like setting up an Iron Maiden gig mate! :)

    @@Gibson1976uk with a full band there's more stuff to hide behind if anything goes wrong. with one guy and a guitar, if anything goes wrong, everyone notices. therefore makes total sense to have this level of redundancy at every level. their ableton tech says there's 8 channels of RF inputs...so that might be main vocal mic, loop mic, spares for both those, and 4 guitars...not that ridiculous for a stadium show

    The Chewie II sacrifices 5 twin pedal RC20 to give Ed the same feeling he used to get when he stepped on a Boss RC20XL. By the way, Boss Footswitch is the best. Sadly, Boss has changed to generic small Footswitches in their most recent loop pedal line.

    I'm wondering - if at some point during the set, let's say between songs, Ed strums his guitar and nothing comes out but his vocals are still fine - in the heat of the moment, what's the decision making process that would lead you to hit the 'backup' option and route everything through the backup rack - given that he could have simply pressed the wrong button on his stomp box?

  • @josephdoran64

    @josephdoran64

    4 жыл бұрын

    Silence from the guitar isn't what they're talking about when they mention switching between the racks. The back up option is there just incase the laptop crashes, overheats, drops out, CPU gets overloaded, etc. It could manifest as cracks/pops/stutters/slow mo audio/computer locks up. It actually happened when Ed was at Wembley in 2015 and I'm assuming this was the solution they came up with to stop it ever happening again.

    The software they're using to host the loop station (Mobius looper) has a resync option built in that detects when the drift is greater than a set amount. For example, if the drift is out by 2048 frames, the master (or slave, depending on the setting) will realign itself to bring them back into sync.
