I don't think it's just because it's Spanish, it's meant to be funny like how on the show Gloria has this fast, overexaggerated accent for comedic effect and that's what they're referring to, they're not trying to be rude and like you said, she doesn't mind.

aven russo Hahaha, I agree that it is often hurtful, but in strong, trusted friendships friends often do not become offended because the friend joking about them actually usually does good for them, so some jokes are not much bad compared to the good they do for them! And Ms. Degeneres and Mrs. Vergara seemingly have a strong friendship! 💛💛😊

If they just incorporate the accent into their impression it seems fine to me, Ed was pretty respectful and subtle. Whereas with Ellen the (badly done) accent is basically the whole impression. That and Sofia's curves. Where Ed's story showed Sofia's funny side, Ellen reduced her to a caricature

@@rhianc7347 Yeah, bro. You know spanish, portuguese are very different languages than english. I'm Brazilian and even though we know all the words is very hard to speak cause it's very different of what we are used to. If i speak fast i'll probably make many mistakes.

Jay dancing with Lily when she feared the audience at her recital was one of the most funniest but heartwarming things i ever saw on TV. no kidding. wish i had granddads (they died before i was born). cherish yours, guys!
