First Ironman and you win and qualify for Kona lol. Harvard, business school, Facebook, Uber. You win at life.

Seriously though - time spent away from family (especially before he became so successful, but perhaps now, too), all kinds of internal and external disagreements, dissatisfaction with this or that, self-doubt, crowds of untrustworthy ass kissers, etc. This is what I can imagine at least. Everybody has problems, and the more you try to do, the more problems you get. I'm not saying Ed is miserable. Far from it! It's just that I'm sure he doesn't live in any sort of eternal happiness paradise.
If Ed is able to just stare at Zwift on the bike for FIVE hours...he’s got a very special tolerance for not just physical pain but mental too. Dude put on a Netflix show or something.

Haha, I actually do watch Netflix during these longer workouts, but it's just not shown in the above video. I can sometimes make it through an entire series during one training session. :)

Longest trainer ride I've ever done was 60 and that was once, so painful ;). Good for you and good luck! Hopefully I'll make it there one day. Another side note, I never use headphones outside, only on the trainer/treadmill, have to train how you race, right?
5 and a half hours on a trainer!!!! ARE YOU SERIOUS? 30 mins on a trainer feels like an eternity!

One should know that Ed was an extremely good runner at and after college. 2:21 for a marathon and 1:05 for a half-marathon are not shabby at all. Once you were on that level of a pro athlete, you can get back to it much quicker than someone who never did sports. What is amazing is how quickly you must have mastered the swimming part. Because the technique usually takes much longer if you have no prior knowledge.

Yeah the video makes you feel like just out of the blue in 4 months (brother) he won. He definitely had a relevant history which the video hides. The leg sinking statement was cheezy and dramatic, Still admire his dedication.
What an absolute legend of a man.. successful in his career, family man and takes care of his body and fitness.. bravo sir. Sending you the best of luck from the UK
The fact that you are simulating the humidity as a non-pro is ridiculously admirable. Good luck this weekend!

Very likable personality. I love this video. Will follow his triathlon journey. Great results.
Very, very impressive man. You're doing the work and you're getting the results. I really appreciate the way you choose to show what you're doing; I think too many people try to show 'hacks' that reduce the work. Ultimately, it's all about the work. Good stuff.
Amazing and very inspiring !!
Spectacular video Ed! Thank you so much for documenting your journey! Please keep the videos coming! Inspirational for all of us to see! Really cool to have a glimpse on your family life and how you balance. Beautiful family! Cheering for you from Panama!
