This is what is classified as a “no nonsense, zero bullshit, straight to the point review”. I like it. Keep up the good work.

Glad you did this review. I am looking at this one and the 490. I appreciate a review from a regular guy instead of the polished fake people and their reviews.

The CS400 is designed to run at high rmp so full throttle when cutting. These saws are bullet proof if taken care of correctly. Again never had any issues keeping any brand of chain tight on my CS400 ever. Make sure that when tightening the chain you are pulling up on the nose of the bar or rest the nose down on something before tightening. This keeps the bar at the proper pitch and ensures your chain will stay tight for quite sometime. I only have to tighten my chain a couple times a week if that depending on what Im cutting or falling.

Damn rite, I have the same cs400 with aluminum handle for over 10 years and I never had an issue. Light with a good amount of power. Thanks for the video.

Just picked it up for 250$, canadian dollars. It was on clealerance since they dont make them any more. I know VERY little about chainsaws, but after a little googling. It seemed like its a nice machine. Will keep my eye out for a metal handle, if i can find one on ebay for cheap enough. Thank you :)

Have 3, all are harder to keep chain tight compared to other brands Iv owned. Keep in mind I’m border line using them as commercial equipment. Best chain I found for this model is YC-62 from power care. FYI. Thanks for watching. Subscribe, I have other saw reviews

Homelites have the same problem with chains loosening (at least the last time I used one), and it looks like the Echo has the same bolt set-up as they use. The Homelite I owned was the best one I ever owned except for having to tighten the chain all the time. I finally wore it to a numb. Then I changed brands.

3/8s low profile .050 gauge 62 drivers I run archer brand chain. Mine has a 18” full chisel. After removing the limiting sleeves on the carb jets and opening the muffler up It’s a totally different animal

Echo makes a tool-free chain tightener for the CS400 which would solve your problem with the adjustment nut stripping. It's an extra $55 but sounds like it's worth it.

Great review, just find the pitch, gauge and drive link count to find the correct chain, no need for part numbers.

I have been considering this exact model with the 18 inch bar and chain. Do you feel these are better than the Stihl and Husqvarna equivalents? This would be for cutting about five cord or firewood each year.

Echo CS 400 best chain saw per dollar. Run YC-62 chain. Stihl might be a better saw, but cost more. Not a fan of Husqvarna. Subscribe, I have a review on the husqvarna equivalent

I have never had the problem with the chain . Just make it a little tight when you put a brand new chain on it. I have never heard anyone talk as fast as you. At least not about work. Hope you are doing well!
