ECG Holidays 2017 with Brian Setzer (and a Happy New Year!!!)

Комедия

December 26th, 2017 - Toward the end of a great holiday season, we took a look at an incredible and well-loved single-owner 1956 Stratocaster, followed up by a little surprise visit from the legendary Brian Setzer before his performance at The Paramount Theater that evening!
It was great to hang out, goof off, and hear some great instruments in your hands - we love you Brian!
Happy New Year everyone!!!

When I was 13 years old I went to a guitar convention that Brian played at. I was shopping for my first amplifier and fell in love with a 1964 Fender Bandmaster. It was one of the first ones I looked at so I decided to look around a bit more before buying it. After checking all the amps out, I decided I wanted it. I made my way back and Brian was jamming on it! I told him i was going to buy it and he said, "that's funny, I already did"! But immediately offered to sell it to me for the same price he had just bought it for. So I can technically say my Bandmaster was owned by Brian Setzer, if only for 5 minutes. Great guy.

Brian Setzer is the kind of player that you can place him in any band in any decade and he will fit right in; 50's rockabilly band? gotcha covered, 30's jazz ensemble.. no trouble at all, 40's big band yes... anybody say western swing band? YES, rock n roll band in 70's of course, adult contemporary pop... with ease... 90's garage band grunge... are you kidding me? 60's lounge act? Yes nobody would ever leave the lounge, skyrocketing alcohol sales! And more!

Holy Cow!…..I’ve never seen such a demonstration of TONE! Minutes 4:33 to 4:41. A Simple raise of the bridge and Brian transforms that archtop with the DeArmond pickup from ‘dud to stud.’ I kid ….a great guitar. A Seriously wicked great player with tone in his back pocket to burn and that simple adj. reveals to the amp the horsepower just waiting to purr! Blew my mind. I always do a ‘song of the day’ for my wife and StrayCats struck 10’ tonight. Then I go digging deeper….really the best thing about the meeting of guitar shop, a genius player/singer, an axe and KZread!

The Brian Setzer Orchestra and their trio were, to me, tied with Reverend Horton Heat for the best live performances I've seen, the former once, the latter numerous times.
