Музыка
Brian Setzer’s guitar tech Tyler Sweet showed off the rockabilly legend’s eccentric touring rig of Gretsch guitars in an exclusive behind-the-scenes video during the Stray Cat’s 40th anniversary tour. At the time, Setzer’s rack was loaded with several of his custom 6120 models, like the flashy “Spotty,” the crowd-favorite Smoke guitar and a can’t-miss sparkle finish.

The 63 bassman with that circuit is awesome !! Ive played through them, as well as many other sought after vintage amps. The real problem with the 63 bassman, is its SO DAMN LOUD! To get this amp sounding great, like Brian does, its got to be turned way up. And when you turn this amp up, it’ll blast you out of wherever you’re at !! (Unless its a really big room/area).... I mean, even an ORIGINAL Fender “Twin” (which many have prob used) is loud when you have it cranked, and this blows a twin away. Otherwise, a beauty. And despite this problem, Ill admit that if Fender did make an actual, authentic re-issue to the same specs, Id buy one also.(amd probably just keep it rolled in the corner 90% of the time cuz its so damn loud! Lol).

the problem is they cant match that tone because brian found some amazing sounding tube many years ago and when the company went out of business he bought their entire stock, without those tubes, or remakes of them, no fender amp will sound right.

Try Nocturne. They do Setzer inspired pedals as well !
The Black pinstriped & the Lime Green are my fav's.
Closing comment is "SPOT ON"!! Get the right equipment together used by any player you like. If you're committed to the style you can probably get darn close but in the end for all but a very moments and notes you're not going to get there. It's not as much talent thing as it is a journey to becoming the player you are. It's in your hands, heart and hours spent honing a skill set. Brian's journey made him, "Brian Setzer". Your journey, regardless of the skill level you get to will make you......"YOU!"
Too cool, thanks. What a neat Xmas present.👍

LOL was just about to say exactly the same!
Great insight what I'd give for a go on any of those guitars
I just purchased a brand new Gretsch that had sat in a corner for a few years never being played for 200 bucks. It's in mint condition. This thing plays like a dream, I'm so in love. I can't believe I own a quality product this precise and beautiful. The tones are just so unique. And then I found out Chris Cornell from Soundgarden, my favorite band used a Gretsch so I'm just so in love with this guitar. It's a dream come true.
A great sound, I love the V Bigsby like that, it looks great and I have it on all my Gretsches. I only play them or Stratocasters pretty much.
So good!
When I saw Brian on his last tour a couple years back, he played a sparkle green Hot Rod with an ebony board pretty much all night. At one point he said "Any guitar players here?" and a bunch of us raised our hands. He said "I can't say for sure if this green guitar sounds any better than my old orange one, but it sure does play great. And the chicks dig it. You guys should get one!". I turned to my girlfriend and said "See?? I HAVE to get one now! He just said so!". I bought one as soon as soon as I got home, and it's been my main gigging, recording and touring guitar every since. And the chicks do indeed dig it. ;-)
BEAUTIFUL 🤩😍🤩😍
Brian Setzer is a master guitarist, makes everything he plays look easy, and his talent is very often under appreciated. Mainly because of the genre of music he plays, but also because he plays to entertain people with his music, his songs and his singing also, instead of trying to show off that he’s a guitar aficionado by hogging the stage and limelight, with long solos, or simple endless “shredding” which many newbies equate with being “a good guitarist”..... Not.... He’s a true guitarist who uses no floorboard loaded with pedals & no gimmicks. Just a guitar plugged into an amp. And on occasion, he uses RE301 delay a little bit..... As Tyler says, “If you want to recreate Brians sound, (he implies its simple) all you need do is just get a bassman and an RE301 chorus/delay, and Good Luck. !!! haha. Of course newbies, and many self professed “great guitarists” don’t catch Tylers dry HUMOR in that phrase... “Good luck” because he knows you’ll never sound like Setzer. True tone and sound, comes from the fingers, NOT from the equipment, or a bunch of effects and gimmicks. When someone else plays through Setzers rig, guess what, they sound the same way they always sound, and do NOT, sound like Setzer !! Spending loads of cash on equipment, will NEVER buy you talent, and tone, so SAVE your money !! It ONLY comes with hard work and practice. IF, it ever comes at all !!! So, WORK HARD and KEEP PRACTICING, and SAVE your money for now !! AFTER you develop some chops, go buy that nice guitar and equipment, because THEN, YOU’ll be able to get the good tone out of it, that it deserves...

O M GOSH!! MAGENTA IS MINE!
this guy is an absolute master, he is so nice i got to meet him a couple of years ago, i was waiting all day to see the show, i was lucky enough to be there during the load-in and sound check. i will never forget that he gave me a set of used strings from the japan tour, i think they used it on osaka, any way he said brian setzer likes old strings better, im so thankful for Tyler!!
Oh, THAT'S brian favorite guitar......
I hope he heals so he can play shows again.

love the closing statement. :) there's always the Mysterybrain BS301 pedal if you cant find a real RE301 spaceecho :) ..ahem
Clearly knows his stuff and is diligent too, or Brian Setzer wouldn't have used him for so long. But he never gives much away.... only mod I picked up on was the double sided sticky tape! :) but as he rightly says even if he told you every single setting and you had the identical gear... what you really need is Good Luck!! Setzer is a true one of a kind genius.
guitar setup and the strings
Thanks Tyler! How do you keep the double-sided tape from muting the resonance? Bet it really helps with the intonation though! Great video!
Some beauties there! I love the 'Don't change strings until you have to' call. That's what I'll do too! Ha! ANd what strings does he use?
on the brian setzer hot rod guitars what kind of paint is used Nitro or poly ?
That's ok but he doesn't talk about the mics he uses to sound like Brian sounds. This is a very important thing in the tone rig.I can remember that I saw a combo with a Shure Sm7b and a Royer R121 in a gig but I think he they changed later.
its for sale on on reverb now !
There's a new kit out there you can insert in those Bigsby's guaranteed will keep that Gretsch in tune no matter how you play it... i went to Brooklyn Gretsch store those guitars cost atleast $10,000 😎
Not my kind of music, but Brian is criminally under-rated.
Why do they use floating bridges ? Anybody know
Oh man,, just to have one of those. Although,, I'm tellen ya. The Streamliners & the 5000 series are far too often overlooked .

the pink guitar looks like the bridge should be pushed over a bit towards the bass side

I owned that guitar in the 70's and sold it around 1980-81, bought it in Springfield ,Oregon ( home of Homer & Marge Simpson) and sold it to Howie at House of Guitars in Rochester NY, who was a friend of Brian. It was a 1956 White Falcon that some cowboy had glued rhinestones around the headstock, when I got it one of the rhinestones was missing, so I located an exact replacement and put it in, I still have good pictures from the 70's of the guitar if Brian needs one.
