Guy who made the task manager for windows uses a Mac 😂. Love the videos ❤️🔥
This was great thank you… I learned more from watching your mistakes than from watching someone doing it right.
Nice clean job, there's nothing I can appreciate more than a project such as this done the right way. Thanks for sharing!
Just in case you didn't figure out the phase wiring yet: AFAIK you need to reverse blue & yellow phase wires, and green & yellow hall sensor wires. I'm on the same boat, but I have the 60V 2000W BLDC version.
One thing I didn't mention in the video is that the reason for moving the motor forward was that once I had it apart and counted the teeth and the transmission to compute the final ratio, the driven sprocket on the axle needed to be so large (70+ teeth) that it interfered with the "stock" mounting location, hence the need to move it in front of the spring.

Thanks for this update! Did you find that the motor had enough torque when under load? I'm thinking of using it to convert a mobility scooter.

I freaking love Daves commentary! We didn't expect perfect welds from a genius programmer! ;)
Great detailed video looking forward for part 2
Cant wait to see these test run!!
Love it! "I don't know exactly what I'm doing but I'm smart enough to learn and I'll record it for you to watch!". This is pretty much what I hope my channel to be when I graduate and have time to launch it.
Good job welding Dave

Thanks! It's slowly starting to get them!
Just switch 2 phase wires and pull the hall sensors. Also, for as much fabrication as you've done, add a chain tensioner.
I enjoyed the narration. 🎉
You’re hilarious and pretty darn good at fabricating on the fly! I have an old Razor dirt quad that my son outgrew. I may add this upgrade as a Michigan winter project:-) Thank you, I enjoyed the video:-)
This is a great video! I'm surprised to see only 260 subscribers. Dave's clearly very knowledgeable, and I look forward to checking out his other videos.

Nice Garage.
Great video. You have a great sense of humor, and had me laughing during several parts of the video..
Awesome video. I'm planning on upgrading my kids quad as well and these videos are going to be very helpful! In your part two video, would you be willing to share with us the parts you purchased (motor, controller, battery) upgrade and used? Thank you again for making this vid. Can't wait for part 2.
His kids doesn’t know that his dad is a hero, he made the manhattan project equivalent in windows - task manager. Not to mention a souped up quad bike. Lucky !

Cool vid, good luck with the rest of it. I also love you stereo system
Cool video. Enjoyed watching the trial and error part which youtubers sometimes try to hide. Would be really cool to see a before and after test of the quad riding up to the mailbox once and back compared to the new set up.

Thanks! I was wondering if showing mistakes was a good idea, but I learn from them, so others might too! In the final installation I plan to "drag race" it agains an original, unmodified example. Since we have two and have only modified one I'll be able to do a number of comparisons!

Is there a part 2 video for the completion of the upgrade? Thank you for part 1. My son and I are starting the same upgrade.

No because this guy really doesn't know what he's doing. Don't follow the advice on this video lol
Because if it breaks and it gets complicated and you want to get parts you can always get parts from factory setting versus here you have to customize everything
Why didn't you just make the motor mounting holes elongated so that you could adjust the chain tension ? Simple easy. You could have used a lock nut on the motor instead of nut zerts. Too much overthinking the process.
It’s a brushless motor so change the three main wires, it’s basically a 3 phase motor
👍🏾 all I need is a big garage like that 😂
Great video. Would like to see finished product being ridden. Also parts list and where you got it would help us to build similar. How much did the parts cost for this upgrade?
Great upgrade... Trying win brats back... without breaking the wallet!
I love how you show it wasn’t a perfect build. All the oopsies.
U need to add a tensioner to the chain to allow for stretching
Could’ve done the suspension mount welded to the previous suspension mouth since the previous suspension Mount was better or a factory welded
What lithium battery you had on it at first?
Still great though my first go cart was simply to dolly linked into one another... Then it was a wooden one
No part 2? We are all on our feet lol
Hello Dave, do you have a video showing the battery replacement?
I would’ve kept the original set up and Compensate for space elsewhere but I would’ve kept the original set of factory settings
I was trying to replace my Electric ATV's 1500w 48v (4x12v20Ah lead acid) battery and I was wondering what LiFeP04 battery you could recommend to replace my old acid battery. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
How did you fix the grinding noise on the quad 500?
Is there a part 2 to this video yet?
You can just flip one of the motor wires and it will rotate right
Was it just the lithium batteries that fried the old setup?
rear suspension under pressure will smash the motor
Is there a part 2 to this
Where did you get the 48v battery from?
I think we have the 24 volt version. I’ve seen a video where they increased to 36 volts by using Ryobi power tool batteries and another where they added a 3rd 12v battery like the stock batteries. Any suggestions on the most straightforward way to modify the smaller 24v Razor? Thanks
Just add a spring loadedchain tensioner.
Hey Dave quick question my electric qoad stopped working the forward dont work only the reverse what can I do to fix this issue
Did you finish this?
Can you let me know where you bought the controller that had reverse built in?

@@JRJRCrawlers, Yeah I would like to see part 2 as well. To change the motor rotation reverse the terminals inside of the connector (easy fix) I have since bought my own Dirt Quad 500 and upgraded the 3 batteries to 10Ah, added a key switch and reverse through an additional relay. The 10 mph stock speed is OK for my back yard. The 48 volt mod in this post seems unnecessary any more speed or power would just make the front spindles break quicker! IMO

Dave, you dont need a new controller. You wired it wrong. Brushless motors can run either direction, you just need to get the phase wires and halls in the correct order. With a job like this, call a pro...like us, Wild Scooter Parts. We have built many brushless setups up to 30,000 watt.
