EBBS AND FLOWS OF LIFE | Life in the Azores
There are natural ebbs and flows in life, cycles and seasons which we go through, lessons which we learn twice or three times. I am currently finding myself in an ebb of life and in my attempt to navigate myself through it, I tend to turn to nature for guidance and so when I spent some calming moments watching the ocean in this pristine Half Moon Bay last week, I learned a thing or two about ebbs and flows in life.
I hope you enjoy. Thank you for being here!

How life is so simple/ beautiful and just listen....
Hi Rahel, what a perfect example of time! The rugged sharp-edged cliff stone, slowly broken down by nature, countless storms shift the huge rocks and the ebb and flow over thousands of years turns them into boulders, boulders into stones, stones into sand Eventually Nothing is left but dust.

Hey Nick. Thank you for contributing this beautiful visual description of life's impermanence and nature's permanent transformation. I loved reading that!

Thanks for your amazing content! My hubby just moved to his ancestral home island of Terceira in the Azores, almost 2 weeks ago. He’s feeling so refreshed and his mindset has shifted so much. It’s exactly what he needed and he is loving the culture and scenery. Once he gets a job, our son and I will be joining him. We can’t wait to raise our little family in this environment ❤ your videos are amazing.

Life is great even though we feel sad once in a while. It makes us appreciate the good ones when they come. Life in the mountains is just what I needed. I am in end stage COPD. It is pretty harsh but I press on. I don't want to miss one moment in life while I still have it.

You are most welcome, Douglas. Thank you for your kind words, I appreciate it.
Hello Rahel: I am sorry that you have had these uncomfortable and overwhelming experiences. I hope that by now, they have been resolved. I always found that when the world seems out of control, nature grounds me. There is quiet strength in nature …… just being …… no matter what. I used to love climbing rocks. Always up high. I too look at life and try to translate it into life lessons, to read what the messages are. However, I find it hard to surrender. I always feel like I have a choice. So, instead of accepting what is, I fight it and try to change it. I am not good at feeling pain and suffering. I always seem to fight against the current of life. I guess that’s the lesson I still need to learn. I absolutely love that smile you had at the end. There is so much innocence and trust in it. May it always be there.

Thanks Rahel. The scene is a wonderful metaphor for Life as you so rightly pointed out: how the island/bay/rocks deal with the crashing waves and remain resolute in their determination to continue and deal with what blows come their way; also having to deal with being supported one second and none the next. And, of course water == emotions which can, and does, get everywhere - one minute forceful and the next receding, one minute strong and the next minute sensing the energy drifting away.... Yes, an excellent topic, spoken and delivered exceptionally well.

Thank you for these beautiful words which complement my video so perfectly and thoughtfully. I very much appreciate to learn how you perceive what I have shared each time. Best wishes to you!
You might wonder why, at times, your emotions become more disturbed than seems proportional to the moment. I think I know why that happens. For those people who are sensitive to the energy of life pick up currents of the ebb and flow of humanity. All around our planet there is so much turmoil and concern. Even the planet and nature itself emit energies of distress. Humans misuse of others and the earth create negative energies that, like tides, can rise and fall. I think some of us are in tune to this and can, at times, make us more vulnerable to our personal emotions.

Thank you for sharing your insights, Robert. I haven't yet considered that, so I appreciate your thoughtful input. I do believe that people who are quite sensitive can at times pick up on emotions which don't necessarily belong to them. I'm not sure how to handle such emotions though learning how not to identify with emotions in general might be a good start. Wishing you the most peaceful day!

Thank you Rahel, I don’t believe there is a way to identify an outside influence specifically. For me I just recognize that there are always external energies messing with us. So when I have a down time or feel unbalanced I try to remember a couple things, one is that the moment will pass and the other is simply the knowledge that the booger man has his toe in my water again😁

Thanks Rahel for your videos !! I enjoy them enormously. Nature, simpicity, sea and profound humanity. I have been sailing on merchant ships for 17 years around North Atlantic, North Sea, Baltic and Mediterranean Sea , from cadet to captain. Once we were at São Miguel and it was magnificent, but I never called the Central Açores. It's my dream. It seems a Lost Paradise. May be when I go I do not come back. ❤❤❤.

I live on Pico Island. I can not give you any information on the cost of living because I don't know how much other people here are generally spending and my expenses are not average. I guess it depends on your lifestyle if you are renting or buying or if you are growing your own food or not.

Greetings, Rahel. The only reason I have been unable to get the residency fast enough is that I am a US citizen, and the law and the regulation need to be more friendly to get the residency fast enough, even though I make an investment in real estate. Otherwise, I would make my decision to move to the Azores. I may need to visit first before making any decision.

I think visiting before making any kind of decision is a good idea. And once you have a feeling for this place, it might make the official process easier on your mind.
