    I work on cars for a living, specifically auto body. For me seeing how things come apart, and how they go together amaze me. What I'm trying to say, is every thing that be built can be taken apart and fixed. It's all dependent on knowledge and ability. Watching some thing like this I can appreciate the effort and ability of fixing any thing. Weather it be a computer, or a bunch of sheet metal

    You just need to check each side. One side should have 0 resistance to ground...the other side should not. BUT as shown in the video even if both sides short to ground that doesn't necessarily meant that it's a faulty capacitor.

    Great job, however for anyone looking to do this for profit, I really feel like $36 in profit makes it totally not worthwhile.. you really do need some skill, patience, and luck for this to work. To me, that seems like it should be worth more than $36. I guess my question is, why are people prepared to pay $120 for something that's broken, and only $60 more for the same thing that isn't broken?

  • @Tronicsfix

    @Tronicsfix

    5 жыл бұрын

    People pay crazy money for broken stuff! For this challenge we were only allowed to sell on eBay...that means we have to pay eBay fees. That alone eats up 13% just in fees. There would have been a larger profit if I could have sold locally. Also, keep in mind that when you're bying broken you never know for sure what you're going to get so making $36 isn't ideal but at the same time sometimes you get something really easy and make $100 for 15 min or work. You have to look at the whole picture not just one item. If you haven't yet, have a look at my final video in this series. It shows profit for the entire contest.

    @@Tronicsfix you always want to reapply new paste, when you remove the mating components that have the paste in between them and put it back on with old paste you can create air bubbles and/or a poor thermal connection resulting in future overheating. ~ sincerely a PC repair guy.

    Glad to see you're doing well with your profits. Though it's rather disappointing to see that you're not willing to step out of your comfort zone and broaden your horizons as to what you can fix (not just electronics consoles in particular), that was part of the point of this. Otherwise what hope does Vince have if all you're going to do is constantly make an easy profit on consoles.

    This is a contest. Part of the point is to show how you can still make good money fixing stuff. It's not that I'm not willing (I'm more than happy to) to step out of my comfort zone...it's a contest/challenge. I'm playing within the rules (we can buy anything we want) to win. That being said in any further challenges we do I'll probably not to any newer consoles.

  • @Raine-Cat

    @Raine-Cat

    Yes, it is a contest, but it just seems like you're playing a little too safe by going with what you know, now there is nothing wrong with that it obviously works. It's just that the safe bet is often... boring or predictable. Though I do enjoy your content, it's nice to see these videos as you clearly know what you're doing, they are well thought out and you explain what you're doing. Though it would be nice to see even some variation, not just consoles. But again it's your content your money you can do as you will. I don't have have a problem with how your doing it it's just a small gripe is all.

  • @Tronicsfix

    @Tronicsfix

    Yep...I totally get that and have no problem with it. This second video actually was a risk for me. I've got 3 Nintendo Switches on my desk right now that I've not been able to fix. This one could have easily been not fixable. I'm sure that didn't com across very well on the video and I get your point, I'm just saying it's not as straight forward as one might think. The next challenge series we do will be different and that's probably one of the things that we'll change. Thanks for the input and I'm glad you're enjoying the videos!
