I've fixed a lot o laptops, there's one thing that's coming to my mind which could help with the power. The power coils itself could be broken, i don't know why it happens exactly, but the way to check this is to heat them up with hot air and then try to power it up, if it starts, the power coils needs to be replaced. Let me know if that helped you.

Guys I just fixed my first Xbox today and I’m super proud of myself. I’m thirteen and thought I’d give some motivation to anyone who is discouraged about not being able to fix something, so just keep trying and eventually you’ll do it. Edit: if I can do it, so can you ;)

I think it was overheating due to the dirty fan. It is then more like turn off, open, clean the fan, turn on. Also Idk about xboxes but with laptops the fan gets clogged with dust. They might have tried to clean the dust with vacuum cleaner or compressed air and when that didn't help they just called it.

Imagine throwing your xbox or selling it as scrap because a little piece of foam was stuck inside the fan :-/

Well, since the xbox was thoroughly fried, I don't think the original owner could get it out... Even if he needed it, given he didn't own a console anymore XD

I generally do this with computers. I’m fine when it comes to hardware repair and getting pretty much any peripheral to work with any setup, and I’ve begun dabbling around with video game consoles because they’re so similar these days to micro ATX form factor computers. Excited to work on my friends Xbox One S but also a little nervous. Great video.

As a person who knows absolutely nothing about any of this, I appreciate you putting that sarcasm but on the screen... thank you.

If Apple made these, there would be special nine sided screws installed so that you couldn't fix them.

I watched you plug in the first one and when it sparked I thought "why didn't he plug it in first, then turn the switch on, instead of just plugging it in with the switch on?" Then I remembered that the US doesn't have power outlets with switches. A year or more after my wife moved from the US to Australia, she asked what the switches were for. Kinda blew her mind. And it kinda blew my mind that the US doesn't have switched outlets.

I know nothing about the parts of electronics, I don't even know about building PCs or what half the fancy stuff listen inside a console means. But your videos are always so satisfying to watch and oddly therapeutic

Don’t ever let the smoke out, it’s so hard to get it back in.

Something I found on an old 360 that caused the system to not power was a usb port. A pin was bent up touching the top and once moved down the system worked perfectly. Just happened to check inside the ports as a last resort.

@@benmann16 Just depends on the quality and the factory. Some Playstations burn up right away due to a short caused by a sloppy soldering joint getting coupled. Same with Xbox's. Welcome to automation not console wars

yeah I actually got a ps3 from the tip that was taken in due to no sound and weird colours or so the guy there said, all I did was reformat it and it worked perfectly. it has a bit of dust in it and once I clean that up I think I can double or triple my money.

@@alek8835I personally am a pc gamer and wouldn't buy consoles for myself but loads of people like them. the ps3 is an oldish platform and as a result, has lost a lot of value but that doesn't mean it's lost it all. remember ps4 has no backwards compatibility so people do still buy them when their old ones break so they can still play their old games. it is also a 250gb slim which gives it more value then some of the older models, even the charcoal black colour can help it sell better. just cause it is old does not mean it's worthless or got no value, if you buy them cheap enough which I did then you can still make some profit off it.

With that first one, I've seen amplifier repair videos from Barevids who has said before when the board burns, the carbon it leaves behind can become conductive and cause shorts. Happens alot with amplifiers as when them Mosfets burn up they usually burn up pretty well 😂

I think that essence of "challenge" in this video makes me love your "how many can i fix" videos.

The hardest part of this whole procedure is knowing how to solder and use the voltmeter. And just do some research on what fails on these, using google.

Great video. I can use the circuit board fix for my Zotac GF9300 itx motherboard. It has a short in one of the holes where the cpu cooling bracket goes through the motherboard. Was screwed down too tight and shorted the copper layers. Thanks for showing a way to possibly fix it. Now to get some 'solder mask' and those pick tools for cleaning it.

I did learn something though.... these things are not very serviceable, which means easy money if you own the equipment... I happen to own the equipment :)

Me neither, still I don't understand how you can just scrape away pieces of the circuit board and still have it working? I did study some electronics almost 20 years ago, but it didn't interest me so I learnt next to nothing, even fell asleep during lectures.
