Hey guys, as many of you have pointed out I got low and 1st gear together out of order on the main shaft, I found out when I stuck it in the case, sorry I am human. I guess I can start editing out my mistakes like every other KZread channel or continue showing my mistakes and trying to correct them and be truthful.

Was hoping to point it out before you got that far..lol If you haven't had something backwards or put something in out of order, or even busted something, then you've never worked on anything,..... been there a time or two! No shame in it, just that long list of swear words when you have to tear it all back apart once you realize what happened. Lots to learn for us out here watching and paying attention, and you obviously are doing a great job Warren, or else nobody would have commented on those gears and they would have sat back being "entertained". Thanks for teaching everyone a thing or four.

Worked as a heavy mechanic when I was in my 20's and now I'm a desk jockey working less and making more. I miss those days though, especially the feeling you get when something pulls in completely destroyed and you get to start tearing things down, knowing how your life will be for a week or so. What I don't miss: waiting for a single part that holds up the whole repair.

Main shaft is one of the only real difficult part of these trans imo. Luckily the newer series have non selective washers so they will all be the same . The older models had a selective washer design to set the gap between the gears. And for added fun they had a partial non selective shaft with a little bit of both

I have a press similiar to that one. I took 2 5ft long 3/16" thick pieces of angle iron and welded them on each side on inside . 4 total. I drilled 1 1/8 " holes so the stop bars could go through all the holes. I also tacked a small handle on the jack release valve so i can release/tighten by hand.

Thanks Warren, The part I get intimidated by with all those gears and washers is getting them out of order between removing them and cleaning them. I used to keep a simple carbide tipped scribe so I could put numbers or letters on the up/removal side I would see first. Match marks and dots got confusing on more complex assemblies. Especially if I got side tracked. When I worked as a steel-rule die-maker we just bought those carbide scribes by the dozen, because they were like pencils in our daily work. Every place/table had 2 or 3 scribe pens on them. Would a 3/16" or 1/4" cable tie with the grip end cut off be used for that keyway pin during assembly? Just thinking about some common items laying around. I understand what it means to live out of town. When I was horse farming between 11am and 2pm was my errand times and by the time I got back I could have 150 miles on my ride, plus wheeling lunch. Ya know sometimes it sucks to work on machines and be a human being, the mind is always constantly going and the machine just sets there waiting to catch ya off guard...I think it might be an engineered conspiracy😣👻🤖👌

Having a good press makes a big difference, I broke numerous bottle jack style presses before I finally got a real press. I ended up getting a 80 ton press with air over hydraulic and a manual pump. One thing I learned about presses is do not buy one that bolts together, all of the better presses have fully welded frames and on the better presses the pins that hold the press bed in place go through the press bed and the upright columns so you cant spread the columns. Bolt together presses have too much side to side sway and always shift sideways when initially loading the press. Too bad you weren't closer to Southern California, I know where there is a press for sale identical to mine for $500.

To add pressure to dead oil products aerosol cans use valve stem for tubeless tires. Big part of stem seals on rolled edges pretty good. About 50 psi works well. Yes take the spray nozzle off. Paint cans use butane because paint paint starts to harden when exposed to oxygen.
