Easy to Make Two Running Waterfalls Terrarium

I've made several waterfall terrariums over the years, but none have been “easy to make.” I set out to make a more accessible version of this style of build using fewer materials and simple techniques. I still wouldn't consider this to be a beginner build, but I think it could be easily replicated with a little practice and finesse. I'm really pleased with how it turned out, though, and I hope you all enjoy the video/project.

As you know, I thoroughly enjoy making terrariums and waterfalls. I've made a few of these over the years, but I'd say that most were fairly complex. I dialed things back for this one in hopes of simplifying the process. I hope you all enjoy the video and have a great weekend!

I still can't believe how strong you're going. I feel like some creators kind of loose their original spirit when they switch to a bigger setup but not you. You're just making incredible stuff and it is still accessible for us. It's very nice to have you back after you moved. I would also like to show you the terrarium I did in a beer keg one day.

This was exactly what I was looking for! I've been marveling at your water features for years but living in a small appartment I don't have access to a lot of the bigger tools so I've been hesitant to try them myself. I do however have a vase of similar dimensions, a spare mini pump, a box of lava rocks and a hot glue gun. That's my Sunday sorted tomorrow! Thanks Tanner!

I think this is great! Some of your builds are so incredible it seems inaccessible for beginners. This is a great step into the hobby. I love it. I would love some smaller video's dedicated to specific techniques. Like one on just cutting and working with glass, one on collecting and propagating moss and plants, working with silicone and how to clean up after, Things like that would be awesome to reference quickly without trying to remember which video we saw them in.

I appreciate these simpler builds from time to time specifically because I feel like this is more accessible for people who want to try something like this themselves! I have a little mini water pump laying around and if i ever find a jar like this i may give this one a shot. I'd love to see a video or even a short just explaining how to maintenance something like this, like how often to top it off with more water or where to keep it so it gets enough natural light, or ehen things might need a trim. Really neat build though!

I've watched a bunch of your videos over the past few days, first as some relaxing background while I settled down for the night, and then with increasing levels of interest. I've never really thought about terrariums before. I didn't keep any bugs, fish, or reptiles growing up, so they were never really on my mind, and I wasn't even aware that terrariums like this were a thing until very very recently (and I'm in my mid-30s!) I have cats which can make keeping certain plants concerning, and I struggle with indoor plants, but the idea of a closed terrarium like I've seen in some of your videos intrigues me very much, and could potentially help with both of those problems. I might give one a go sometime soon. I even have a great, wide vase that some flowers were delivered in last month for Valentines to put it in. I just need to fabricate some kind of secure lid. :) I just wanted to say thank you for what you do, and that you've inspired someone who just a few days ago didn't know anything about this hobby. Your work is so beautiful, and I'm excited to give this a try!

I use those USB pumps in quite a few of my builds, most of the time it being noisy is due to an air bubble in there, you kind of have to prime them to make sure there's nothing but water in the propeller area. However it really varies from pump to pump since they are so inexpensive and the durability does too, still one of my go to pumps for nano tanks though

Another great way to make super strong glue and debris structures is mixing saw dust, sand, and white glue together. It's probably not great for water tank usage of course but i can see it in a dry spider enclosure or something like that. I discovered it by accident while making a wooden box sanding the rough edges, but i hated the seems in the box so i mixed the debris from the sanding which also had a bit of sand from the sandpaper in it and made a paste with regular Elmers glue and wedged it between the seams. I had excess and left it on the side as my box dried and was surprised to feel how concrete like it felt after drying, it was like playing with a chipped off edge of a piece of cinder block, i didn't know wood shavings, sand, and Elmers glue had that kind of power. Although Elmers glue was enough, i'm sure switching it out for a stronger glue would be better.
