Rubber Ducky Isopods Kept Multiplying, so I Made This
Five months ago I made a dripping cave vivarium for my Rubber Ducky Isopods in an effort to move them out of bins. I thoroughly enjoyed that setup, but I regretted not going larger. I recently mentioned that I wanted to redo it and many of you wanted to see it as well. Here it is, enjoy!

I'm so excited to share this one! It's been in the works for a few weeks now and was a lot of work, but I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. How do you think it compares to the original?

Your Duckies are fortunate to be in the bigger happy place, that perfectly capture the beauty of nature. You posted this just in time as I started building my Ducky habitat based on your original idea last night. I like how you used cycled old substrates. If the wet rocks and under rocks are the hot spots, (just like what we observe in common Lolly Pollies in backyards), then I’d try increase such spots in my plan. Thank you again for this video at this timing!!!

It looks amazing; I want to move there! You know, a small-leaved Fittonia would really pop in that landscape. Your idea was good, just the wrong scale.
*Tanner* : I should gently place the leaf litter to make it believable *Also Tanner* : **Agressive Leaf throws** 😂

That actually makes it believable. Humans subcontiously de-randomize things. That's something nature isn't capable of. Throwing is pretty much what wind would do in nature. The leaves stay where they stay and drop where they drop. Perfect randomizer.
How cool that you are building more scapes for your rubber ducky isopods, I love these so much. Your scapes are always insane but this one looks especially natural.

Yes, these are the correct words 👍
It really shows how much you care for your animals knowing you were able to breed rubber ducky isopods. Youre such an amazingly kind and considerate human being for, despite learning this, you still wanted to make their tank bigger

It’s great to see someone who actually cares about the animals and doesn’t just use them for props and views, like so many animal KZreadrs. Paul Cuffaro is maybe the worst offender. I’d love to get Tanner’s thoughts.
I love that spoiling animals that are quite fine with simple enclosures has become a recurring theme. We have to hear about it the first time a guest sees this amazing scape and asks, "What's in here?"
If I was extremely wealthy, I would pay SerpaDesign top dollar to make custom tank builds like these for me. They are absolutely stunning, and I would look at these tanks for hours in person if I had even just one of these. You're truly a genius, and every setup is a masterpiece.

if i was extremely wealthy i would be able to afford the stuff to get into building my own lmfao😂
these last few builds have been truly on a new level! I'm loving the shift from tropical jungle looks for larger builds to something that much more closely resembles something you could head out and see locally. I'm studying herpetology and art, and one of my major crossroads interests is enclosure design. I feel like enclosures that house native species and mimic local environments could be an excellent way to get folks interested in conservation. The biggest step is letting people know what's out there!
I found a grey isopods randomly in my apartment and was inspired by you to try and create a little home for him. now I have a total of 4 little beans in a little vivarium ♥

Literally my childhood dream
My coworker is giving me her old aquarium and I plan on turning it into a slice of local nature. There's an abundance of moss and ground creeping plants, twigs and branches, leaf litter, etc. Perfect to home isopods and centipedes
The algorithm is being unfair to you. Your recent videos have really been excellent and the new studio and capacity adds so much to your videos. I imagine a reptile/frog vid will help pull a few more views or another less-natural habitat like the crystal caves or play button one. Just hoping you keep getting enough support to make these vids. Maybe even patreon?
Even with the recent boom of similar tank channels, this is the one I never get tired of. Tanner has so much vibe that he makes frickin' isopods fascinating to observe, and his skills in DIY & tankscaping are unparalleled.
My saturday shall now be complete, no matter what the rest of the day holds. Thanks, Tanner!
I'm glad you're liking Tony so much and putting him in all these videos.
I was waiting for this! My friend just gave me Duckis as a surprise and I was hurrying up to make a quick version of your original ducky enclosure with some twist last night. So happy to see your updated version of it. Thank you always for your inspiring videos. They are soothing, too.
Such a beautiful vivarium! I'm not a big fan of bugs, but these ones really are so cute, especially with that name. You've created a wonderful home for them to get settled and multiply happily!

Fun fact: these are crustaceans, not insects. They're related to crabs and shrimp.
I LOVE BUGS!!!!!!!!💥💥💥💥💥💥 Those rubber duckies much be living the happiest life, completely free of predators, and plenty of food to go around!!! Good job!!!!
Your videos and hobby are a niche art form I didn’t expect myself to enjoy so thoroughly. Thanks for the great videos, even your simple vivariums are inspiringly full of love, detail, and depth.
This is amazing! I've just created my first terrarium for a group of Dairy Cow isopods. I may have to track down some Rubber Duckies for a future project.
It be fun to see a video on where and how you source all your natural materials from, as well as to see your current collection of all your natural materials, plants, etc.
I love how much care and attention you pay to every single living thing
So glad you shared this new setup with us! I just love the Rubber Ducky isopods! Beautiful work as always.
Ayy one of my favorite Serpa Squad videos got the redux (and I'm in it!!) More importantly, thank you Tanner for the revisit to the ducky isopod vivarium! Loved watching the process and your explanations behind every detail as always; looks awesome!!

Let's go! Appreciate your continued support.
the highlight of my day has arrived
this is the first time ive ever heard of rubber ducky isopods and immediately i love them
Using the PVC pipe to house the pump is so smart, what a great idea! I'm sure the duckies enjoy their new home.
I find it relaxing and sometimes cute to watch these rubber ducky isopods. Probably from good memories of roly poly's from childhood. Thank you for this video.
I’ve been enjoying your vids for about a year now & you’ve always made incredible things but I really feel like you’ve found your style & have taken nature design to a whole new level recently! Absolutely love what you’re creating & the love you put into it! Thanks for sharing it with all of us!
I have NEVER heard of rubber ducky or panda king rolly pollies! They’re so cute!! You’ve opened my eyes to a whole new world. I’ve always only seen the regular little gray blue fellas. I didn’t realize how complicated their environments need to be for successful reproduction. You sir, are truly a good person. Thanks so much for caring for these overlooked creatures 😁
It's genuinely kinda impressive how well you manage to make great convincing replications of natural habitats within your enclosures it's honestly just beautiful to see and kinda makes me want to take a stab at making something similar myself
You're very talented, Tanner. Your skills are getting even better. It's so amazing to witness.
I absolutely love your designs, and your passion for your animals is obvious. Can't wait to see what you work on next!
- Super cool build && those rubber ducks look so adorable my friend !
I love seeing your skill with building that starts all the way from making the terrarium itself to how natural you achieve the end result to be. Loved seeing all of the building process, as well as the adorable ducky isopods!
This turned out amazing! It would be cool if you inserted a mini camera into their cave so that you can see what they are up too
im so excited! I loved the original build and this one is EVEN COOLER wow I love tiny bugs living their best lives
I love seeing someone else put so moch work into the critters that are usually forgotten about . I did this same thing for the dubia roach colony I have . They are for my tarantula but because she only needs to eat every like 2 weeks . They needed something more . Plus the better you care for the food . The better it is for what eats it . And ever since I made their new home . They started breeding again and I love seeing them all come out when I feed them lol. I got attached to the biggest female. So she’s like the matriarch of the colony now and will never be eaten by nova lol
Love the final look! So natural.. thanks for sharing
Beautiful setup but I couldn't help myself but to add a front view of a small water pooling area with a couple coolie loaches and/or maybe some nano-fish. I'd also need one area that had a small visible waterfall and I know the rubber ducky fans will hate me for this but I'd love to fill that tank with various poison dart frogs. Ohhh the possibilities. I have to hand it to you, such dedication for Rollie-Pollies.
SEEING THE LEAVES BEING THROWN WAS AMUSING AND I LAUGHED :)) AND I THOUGHT BRAVO ( CLAPPING HANDS :) ! THANK YOU FOR SHARING AND SHOWING THE GREAT ART :) THANK YOU FROM ISRAEL :)
This was a particularily meditative and relaxing video.... I am just gearing up to redo my zebra isopod enclosure - this is very inspiring
Rubber Duckies are my favourite!! this was SO COOL
Absolutely stunning enclosure for the duckies!
This is so beautiful! Really outdid yourself.
This is awesome (as always) Tanner, I love your videos and it just brings me so much joy, the energy and effort you put into the quality of life for all your critters.
I love that you called them roly poly
This is absolutely gorgeous!

Outstanding, one of my favourite setups ❤
Builds like this are what I aspire to do. I cant wait to see more wonderful builds Tanner. Been watching since you were around 50k and its been a blast to witness your growth.
They are so adorable, I have to make a plush of one!
What a lovely setup and a scape!
Its gorgeous to watch tanner use basic materials to make such works of living art
This setup really nailed it! It looks SO natural that is hard to believe someone built it ✌️😃🌱
Hey man, I've been watching your videos for a pretty long time now and I have to say, I absolutely love them. From design, to commentary, photography and editing, it's all great. Quite recently, I re-watched your Crocs video, and remembered one of my close friends is a client of Crocs! (The company is called Digitas) I had to show them it, and they sent it to the Crocs Marketing Team itself! I'm not super sure if they'll see it, but if they reach out, great for you!

This build was worth the wait! Well done, Tanner
Wooooo I've been waiting for this! I saw my comment in the video😊 I started my colony in January and it's amazing how much they've burrowed in the substrate. They have a whole tunnel system down there
Awesome job on this my friend I love the BDFB enclosure as well
You do such lovely work.
Inspirational! Love your designs!! We have just finished our first bioactive paludarium for our African Bullfrog "Tugboat" and we used many of your concepts/lessons so firstly, thank you so much. Also if you haven't already looked into them we have recently acquired a small colony of "Shiro Utsuri" isopods and they are fantastic. They are way more active (visually) than any other colony we have, Including our "dairy cows". Anyways love your work and THANKS again!!
Love these cute 🐤 ❤ I want to make something like this! Might need to redo my paludarium. I really like the pipe and water flow feature. So cool. Thanks so much for this fun build. I actually love watching the whole process. Have a blessed day!
They're so cute!! They really fit their name :)
Amazing setup!
This Setup ist so beautiful. Fantastic! Very good Job 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
This setup and video is a Masterpiece.
Sure you hear this a lot but thank you for what you do for the overlooked species ❤ it’s honestly the best thing to see for me.
SHEèeeesh 😮💨👌 the rubber ducky flex 💪 I enjoy this so much! Amazing content, best wishes to you and your future projects! 🌻
The Salamanders are happy the Ducky's got their upgrade.

Your vocal fry is crazy 💅 💅 💅
Wonderfull job for a very small insect
Beautiful ❤
You always do a nice job
this is so cool!!!
Watching this man live out my dream fr
Everybody’s gangster until the oak leaf creeping fig shows up 😍
You HAVE TO make a rainfall terrarium with a frog species, like glass frogs or even a salamander, it’s the coolest tank concept and a huge turn on the typical water fall or water flow
this is lovely
thank you!
Beautiful! Please do a follow up with longer segments of the tank views. Very peaceful 🙂
Cool I really like this tank
i love these little fellas
