Forest Terrarium After 5 Years of Life in a Jar

The "Silent Terrarium" is one that I haven't talked about on the channel much. That's in part because it was originally done in an ASMR format. I never explained what or why I did what I did, but do today and I share how it survived over the past 5 years (1,830 days). Enjoy!

You're one of the best creators. In terms of scope, design and video presentation. This might sound weird to alot of people but I think you acknowledge this which is videos that have an ASMR quality. Discussing plant and animal life is inherently soothing to us as humans I think and presenting the videos in such a way makes them both an educational and relaxing experience

Wow Tanner, your Terrarium builds are truly impressive! I'm a big fan of moss too, and I think incorporating different varieties of mushrooms into your designs could add a unique touch. Have you ever considered creating a jar for ants or beetles? Darkling beetles would be a perfect match for the mushrooms you mentioned. And a neon terrarium with Green Pepe, Bitter Oyster, and coconut flower mushrooms sounds fascinating! Just a suggestion, but I hope you find it inspiring!

Fascinating!!!! There is supposed to be this guy who has a large terrarium he built back in the 1970s that is still going strong. I think he claims he hasn't had to water it since then either because it creates it's own atmosphere...but I find that hard to believe and my memory may be a little Off... Hey Tanner I was wondering, is it possible to use coconut fiber matting like about half an inch thick instead of the window screen that way it's all natural and it won't biodegrade it does biodegrade but it takes like hundreds and hundreds of years to degrade. just look at the coconut fiber that was found under the island in Maine where supposedly the big treasure was buried oak Island. and they've found coconut fiber from about 400 years ago and it still perfect it's like it was put down yesterday. so I was wondering is it possible to use like coconut fiber mat that you just cut to size for the container and put that underneath the charcoal layer and above the drainage layer? that way you don't have to use any product that's man made in your terrariums? What do you think?

Do you ever sell your terrariums to local buyers? You may have answered this before, but I'm curious! I know you sometimes take your projects apart since you can only keep so many, but your skill is so impressive! I have most of the supplies to get started, but I'm having a hard time coming up with a design. I went to a consignment store a few years back and they had closed terrariums for sale! I was a college student at the time, but i was so tempted to splurge.

Would snails do very well in an environment like this? Could potentially help to deal with the algae buildup. Also, I'd probably give up on ferns if they're the thing requiring you to do regular watering that you've repeatedly shown you're not interested in improving on. No judgement or anything; you are the way you are. It's useful to design your projects with your own character in mind.

I think we need a full lenght video going into detail about how to remember watering. Do we need a girlfriend? a wife? a mom? do we need to resort to technology? can we somehow enhance the memory capabilities of the human brain?. In any case, this is something that we need to solved. No sense in building these beautiful Terrariums if we let them dry out.
