My mom made this dish and we called it Smothered Hamburgers. But she fried the patties part way and mixed the onion soup mix and we used cream of celery soup and I think water or maybe milk and mixed it all up in a jar and poured it over the patties and finished cooking the patties. We used a cast iron skillet w a lid. Yum! Thank you for the memory 😉

Remove from heat..don't remove lid..time ten more minutes without touching. After ten minutes remove lid and fluff with a fork. Perfect every time without sticking together..and without being overcooked. I love using Jasmine rice! Your recipe looks good.

@@chewie2055 Hi. If you rinse off your rice, the vitamins and other 'good stuff' will go down that drain along with the starch. I prefer to add some butter or even a little oil to the rice to keep it from sticking. Since most of the rice we use in our meals will end up being buttered anyway, I figure I'm already ahead of the game. Lol.

Brenda I have a recipe for you. My mom called it cabbage casserole. I cut all my veggies first which is cabbage, potatoes in round pieces, 2 onions and baby carrots. (Optional) In large pan that goes in oven rotate your veggies starting with cabbage. When finished put approx. 2 lb hamburger ovet top of veggies. Pour 1 regular can tomato sauce over top. No water. Cover with lid or tin foil and cook til cabbage is tender. I don't time anything but about 2 hrs. Its a one dish meal and i usually serve it with corn bread.

I've had Gordon's cooking....it is amazing! Have you ever dined on his food? This woman's cross contaminated cooking (from handling raw meat , and touching things all over her kitchen) is a heart attack, and high blood pressure on a plate

Have you ever tried Golden Mushroom Soup? I use it a lot. It makes the best gravy and if you cook a chuck roast in it you will be in Heaven.

Brenda & David loves your shows. My mom & nana didn't enjoy cooking at all. Mom was an only child & nana' s mom died when she was a teen. I learned on my own to season my green beans with some bacon & a whole small onion I stab in several places. My grandpa's family was from down in the mountains of KY. My great great grandma lived to be 101, 1 month & 1 day. Her single daughter who was a nurse lived with her. God bless, love you both.

Brenda, my son in law is Korean. He showed me the best way to do the rice. I use basmati or jasmine, whatever amount I’m using in rinse it thoroughly with cold water until the water runs clear. Then set the rice in water to soak for at least 30 minutes prior to cooking. Then drain your rice. Then I always make sure my water is on full boil THEN I put the rice in after the water is full boil. Let the water come back to full boil then turn it down in lowest setting for 10 minutes. It cooks much faster this way and it always comes out perfect. Fluffy and light. I also add a a half teaspoon of salt in the boiling water before adding my rice. Love your channel.

thank you ann. I am just my self. you are right I don't pretend to be someone that I am not. Sometimes my daughter is afraid that I might say something in front of one of her friend that might not agree with her. but everytime they tell her that they love her mom. I am a nut not a nut that you eat, but funny at times. I just love people from other places, I wish that I could hear your accent. I bet it is beautiful. we are thankful that you are on our channel. thanks so much for joining us Ann

Anita Kern, my grandkids call me Memaw. I live in Southern California. I have no idea how my oldest granddaughter came up with it. She was only a year old when she started saying it. My daughter had no idea what she meant so she started showing her things. Finally she saw a picture of me, pointed & said “Memaw.”

Please don't handle the meat, the way Brenda does. She contaminates everything in her kitchen by handling the meat and not washing her hands with hot soapy water. She does the same thing when handling poultry. I'm surprised that her family doesn't get sick. So learn recipes from her, just don't copy the way she handles meat.
