I don't ever measure anything. I have my Mamaw's old bread tray, that I make my biscuits in. I use White Lily flour, ONLY. I sift my flour, use only whole buttermilk, mix, and knead, until the right consistency. Roll em out, pat the top of my biscuits with buttermilk, stick in preheated oven, set on 425-450, and I cook em till they're pretty, and brown. # I grease my iron skillet with lard🍳🍳 We had a hog processed recently, and the sausage is so good. We love fresh pork. I was raised out in the deep country. Those days are gone, aren't they😥😥 Y'all are precious!!! Merry Christmas! Love to you both.🙏🏼❤🙏🏼❤🙏🏼

Nothing like a home made biscuit. Take the left over heated biscuit, stick your thumb in the biscuit, add a pat of butter and some Dark Karo or Cane Syrup. It is so good. Dessert or breakfast you can't beat a biscuit and syrup. These look so good. Have a Blessed Thanksgiving! Thanks for all your recipes and letting us be part of your family dinners.

This was such a treat not just because of the delicious food, but the stories about your family. Brenda, I don't know how your mother survived being a wife and mother at such an early age, because at 14, I couldn't figure out hardly anything! Women like your mom remind me of Dolly Parton's lyrics from Eagle When She Flies -- "She's been there, God knows, she's been there / She has seen and done it all/ She's a woman, she know how to/ Dish it out or take it all/ Her heart's as soft as feathers/ Still she weathers stormy skies/And she's a sparrow when she's broken/ But she's an eagle when she flies."

And maybe ahead of time you will share some ideas of what you dream it to be like? ~~~~ Actually, I feel rather sad to think you will change your kitchen. I enjoy it's cozy homey feeling. God bless! When you boil potatoes for mashed potatoes for a fried chicken dinner or other, you use that potato water for your gravy. Flour in the grease then some milk and then you can alternate milk and potato water. It's got starch and won't thin it and it has all the nutrients boiled out of the potatoes. Makes awfully good gravy. My mom made gravy that way and I think her mom did, too. That was a depression trick but may be older than the depression.

When I am depressed or not feeling good, all I have to do is watch a video with Brenda and David. I always feel much better afterwards. Brenda you have the patience of Job. No offense but David you would drive me batty telling me how to cook when it is obvious that you may not even know how to cook a packet of ramen noodles. I say this in love as I use to tell my wife how to cook when she was alive. I have figured out how to properly cook ramen. HA! HA! The biscuits and gravy makes me want to go to the local Waffle House and order a serving. Keep up the videos they make my day. With love from Ozark, Alabama Darrell S.

Quick way: Make biscuits, set aside while frying sausage patties. After the patties are just barely done, set them aside and put the biscuits in to bake while you make the gravy in the pan with leftover grease by addng a few tablespoons of flour to cook a bit then add slowly the milk mixing well 'til thick or thin enough. Biscuits should be done by now. If you want, put the sausage back into the gravy to reheat. This is how my Grandmother made it for my Grandpa When the noon whistle blew, Granny had it ready. She always let Grandpa get his own breakfast as she had no intention to get up at dark thirty! My Granny rocked!

It is something to think about. We lived hard when I was growing up. I don't remember the depression. my dad lives very hard. He might remember some of it. I know that he didn't have shoes to wear to school or anywhere else. There was a lot of them. They was so poor. I have heard him talk about living on hard times when you didn't have much to eat. they might get some pintos and a biscuit or some gravy and a biscuits. Those items is some of the items that was always kept in the homes in those days. I am going to call him tomorrow. and talk to him about that. They always tried to keep lard and flour and sugar if possible. and milk and can milk. we use to get a lot of fresh cow milk. I love it. I still love milk. I can dink it day and night. they tries to keep salt ad pepper and beans. Now us. mommy and daddy had 7 of us. I was mommies helper. I had one brother older than me. then me. the next sister next to me was 4 years younger. I had a time growing up, being mommies helper, and school, homework. I didn't do good in school and then got in trouble because I didn't make the best grades. You take care of your self and stay same. I hope that you are having a great 4th

Anyone else wondering how turning that know to the right is turning it down. 🤔 Good recipe and video. I like the part of yall remembering how people did it when they didn't have milk.

Give them a try. Its not hard, If you get them to dry add milk. if it is to runny, need them more or add flour. The gravy is so easy. Just let the flour and grease brown some, add the cream and water and let it ck until it thickens some. I hope that you will try it.

David is right. I remember my mom making gravy with water too. The flour is the thickener. You just have to know how to season it. Iead once if you want flaky biscuits. Once you flatten out the dough fold it in half and cut out your bisquit. Flaky and double the rise.

Oh David and Brenda, I miss you guys so much. I keep watching your videos just to have your voices in my kitchen while I'm working. I need the comedy in my kitchen it makes me cook better. I just watched a video with Becky from the Hillbilly Kitchen called Impossible Pie. You need to see that one. I never heard of that pie before but I'm sure going to try it. I'm going to sit back and watch this Sausage Gravy and Biscuit video for the 10th time, I basically want you 2 arguing over bugs, boggas, dirt, or anything else. You are a RIOT. Love you both ♥️. Bye, 🙋 Hurry Back
