Hi Bill. I know you are seriously ill and I'm not sure if you are still checking your channel, but I just wanted to say what a great vid about loop tyers this is. I first saw it over a year ago. I rushed out & got a loop tyer, but instead of watching your vid again, I lazily used the instructions enclosed. All went ok, but as I have middle aged eyes and fingers, I always had to used a toothpick to guide the loop as it slid around the tyer. I've just watched your vid again, and yours is a much better way by far. No eye strain and toothpick in the bin. Thanks Bill 👍.

The palomar knot is much simpler to tie for beginners and is just as strong. Excellent advice for the loop though, especially with the tool.

These loop tyers are great i found it fiddly at first folding the line like you do to make two loops is a good way it looks like a swans head lol twice round the neck loop in the mouth thanks for the tip have a good year

The idea of a loop maker is great, BUT - they're made of very soft plastic which grooves very easily. The Matchman (which is very cheap) is VERY soft. Eventually someone will mould one in aluminium, which will last for years. It would certainly be worth paying more for a better tool. Note: With heavier lines two twists (rather than three) are sufficient, and make tightening-up much easier. This is the best 'how-to' video.

I took out a big 140cm catfish last week by using the palomar and uni knots. Since some months, are the one to go for me.

Thanks bill, I used to tie loops by hand but just recently bought s loop tyer. Your video made more sense than any other. Also do you think the uni knot is better than a tooled blood knot? I reckon it will be lots stronger and less slippy with braid but mono I have no idea. Although I usually use a Palomar knot for braid to eyes

gret video on knots, do you not think a clinch/improved clinch is easier for beginners? and although my bad loops have never let me down yet i am going to try your method, thanks. also if you are creative a disgorger can be pressed into service as a loop tyer

BUSHCRAPPING . Hi I believe that knot is known by some as a “clinch” knot. Regardless of its name the reason it is such a good knot is that it doesn’t ‘strangle’ the line thus weakening the line like the popular ‘half blood’. Also this is a great knot for braided lines for the same reason.

For loops i use the knot for the Perfection Loop i find it easier to tie than the figure of eight and its probably just as strong. But also its called the perfection loop because it sits really nice and straight on the line and doesnt hang off to the side. I use uni knots for my eyed hooks unless its a big hook like a size 14 upwards then i'd use a Palomar knot which i find is the strongest as it involves doubling over the line through the eye so you have two strands spreading the load. Reason why i'd only use it for bigger hooks is purely just because i cant fit two strands of line through the eye of smaller hooks, and i always use Palomar knots for tying swivels (all have big eyes). Not really a fan of half blood knots i find they're probably the weakest and like you mentioned in this vid, i pretty much agree in that they tend to damage the line or are more likely to.

cns180784 .hi you can pass the line twice thru’ the eye with the uni knot if you want I just use this knot as it’s never let me down but I still see people using the half blood which will slip under pressure. As long as you are happy with the knot you use that’s good. For thinner lines I would recommend you try the loop tier it is really good with three turns. Thanks for subscribing I will be getting out on the bank soon health permitting! Tight Lines

Hi there. True i could pass the line through twice with the uni knot also for the bigger hooks then again i find tying the Palomar knot quicker and easier than the uni knot so just my personal preference. I'm not the quickest or best at tying knots so the quicker and easier they are whilst still being strong, the better. I hope too that you can get out on the bank soon, when did you last fish? i've only just got back into fishing. Must say i'm looking forward to the summer.

Hi make sure you wet the line and hold both the short end( the tag) and the mainline when you pull it tight. Once you have done it you will find it so easy. If it’s any consolation I struggled at first cos’ there were no instructions. Tight Lines

wizardwithguns1 Hi thank you. This is exactly the sort of knowledge I’m trying to pass on, but regrettably a lot of people don’t want to learn! The answer you hear is I’ve always done it the way my dad/uncle etc taught me. Several years ago while catching good fish a guy watching didn’t agree with my method and said “I’ve been fishing for 40 years” my reply was “well you haven’t learnt much then!” Which was true even if a little harsh! I do wish that he would keep an eye on what he is recording. So much is missed by his hands going out of the frame & by the time they come back into the picture you have missed something that you don't know if it was important or not.
