The East Lancashire Railway held their annual Summer Diesel Gala event from Thursday 27th June - Saturday 29th June 2024. The event saw a variety of diesel locomotives in service hauling passenger trains and brake van ride trains with the goods train. In service during the event saw the home fleet in action alongside guest locomotives with Class 37 37425 and Class 20 20066 visiting from Harry Needle Railroad Company, 20066 had recently been completed following overhaul and this event was its first runs since completion of restoration. Class 26 26007 made a return visit to the line from KOZZY-RAIL and Freightliner supplied locomotives 70014 and 47830 'Beeching's Legacy', this was the first time a Class 70 had run on the line.
The day was spent at Ramsbottom, this was a new filming location for us, we had planned to do one or a few other spots but in the end we stayed at Ramsbottom for the duration of our visit. The weather wasn't too bad either with some rain in the morning and it was brighter later in the day.
